An almost perfect episode
tedscoasterchannel3 June 2019
This ep is one of Dark's best. A lot of big questions, while the big riddle is moving forward to get solved. There are also some existencial questions about time travel.

Phenomenal episode
TheFirst0125 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This has probably been the best of the season so far, but I fear that the season has become too slow. I hope the next few episodes and the next season are faster paced. While the previous episodes demanded shocks and twists, this episode does for brooding, tense atmosphere. Can't wait to see all the answers about this show. I give this episode a 9.2/10.

Just as good as the previous

Warning: Spoilers
The second of two fantastic episodes fully exploring the potential of time travel. The conversation between Jonas and the Stranger is the most engrossing element of the whole series, almost mind-blowing, and there are least two new puzzles added to the mix.

We know more.. yet we still know so little!

This show just never dissapoints! Every episode leaves your eyes glued to the screen as you are trying to look for Claes or answers!.

This episode reminded us that it is all one big puzzle and we have only seen pieces of it, but not the full picture! I can only imagine how it must be to rewatch the series, understanding those small details and knowing the outcome!

I think the first and final scene might be the most signifikant in this episode, as well as Jonas meeting the stranger and the scenes with Helge!

Soundtrack is amazing as always as it gives of this feeling of mysterious intensity!

Evemts of this episode:

In 1986, Helge, who was working at the plant the night Mads disappeared, is questioned by Egon about his whereabouts. The Stranger explains to Jonas that Mikkel is indeed his father and warns him that taking Mikkel back home to 2019 will result in Jonas never being born. Katharina unsuccessfully attempts to convince Egon that Ulrich never raped her, and Helge and Noah prepare to move Yasin's dead body from a bunker behind Helge's cabin.

In 2019, the police are finally allowed to enter the power plant, and Charlotte finds a welded shut door in the caves. Meanwhile, Ulrich finds Egon's 1986 notes, making Helge a suspect, and visits him at the nursing home. Frightened, Helge claims to be able to change the past and future. Ulrich is suspended from work and Katharina confronts him about his affair. Charlotte discovers that the cave system goes beneath an old cabin owned by Helge. She receives a voice message from Ulrich, stating that Helge is the kidnapper, but that the question is not how he is doing it, but when. Late at night, Helge leaves the nursing home, followed by Ulrich, who brings a book from Helge's room: Eine Reise durch die Zeit by H. G. Tannhaus.

Review:

The whole detective story about the missing child was so interesting awho kidnapped thend we follow it along. We are in the waiting that they find who did it? Who kidnapped the children? Even in the past, they have some mysteries and it have some mysteries that we need to know more to understand. Nice episode.

It Keeps Snowballing

First of all, Pacing. I'm so tired of people criticizing a show because it is cerebral. With our tiny little attention spans we need to be treated to action every two minutes. When I was eight in the fifties, I used to watch the classic big monster movies. I thought, "Stop talking. Bring me the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. As I grew up, I began to enjoy the scientific discussion and the interaction of the characters. I know that most people would agree with me on this. This story is about everyday people who have been through the ringer. The way they treat each other is so important. Happy endings don't always happen. There is often collateral damage as there is all over the place. Jonas's decision here was gut wrenching but so necessary.

Another episode full of suspense
gedikreverdi24 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Jonas watching his parents (who's also Mikkel, too) in the hospital was so awkward. He didn't interfere so that he wouldn't erase his own existence and went back to the present time. The watchman at the AKW was the one who abducted the Ulrich's brother and Ulrich knows the demented old man is still up to something and so is the priest.

A slow episode that doesn't surprise
Revalopod12 October 2020
Yeah there's nothing really special about this one. It's slow, it doesn't have any plot revelations or twists, it doesn't advance the plot much, and it doesn't even have a music montage scene. But I'm just spoilt; compared to the average TV show this episode would stand out as a top notch episode of great writing, acting, directing and atmosphere. It just feels slightly underwhelming after the previous 2 episode were absolute wowers.

Crossroads is a great episode, even though it's one of Dark's worst episodes. That just goes to show how great Dark is.

You think a show based on this kinda plot would be a little fast paced but no.
ansharora-126384 September 2020
Wasted potential, cheesy and weird. Took bits and pieces from other shows and tv and people are saying what a great show this is just because they haven't seen any other series far better than it and almost based on the same plot. I have never waited out for any show this longer, thinking that atleast some of the 10/10 reviewers may be sane. Don't let me down.

Strong episode that continues to develop the intrigue
snoozejonc20 April 2024
Ulrich pushes hard to establish guilt for Mikkel's disappearance, as Jonas faces a paradox.

The plot slow burns, but gives just enough details for it to remain compelling. With each reveal you want to know more and this for me is effective storytelling.

From a character perspective, there are lots of interesting moments. Jonas situation is a classic paradox of time travel stories that makes you sympathise. It also makes you more curious about the mysterious peripheral characters who appear to be pulling strings.

The irony of Ulrich being fixated on the guilt of one individual works well with the scenes of Egon set in 1986. Although it has reached the point where the suspicious behaviour of Helge requires full explanation.

I love the visual storytelling as always, with the various clues provided being revealed well. Generally the cinematography and art design is excellent.

I've never been on the edge of my seat for so long before

Warning: Spoilers
It was depressing and dark the whole way through. At the time, I was extremely pissed off at Jonas for burning the evidence. Thought maybe he could pass the letter along to someone with a few more brain cells to try and figure out what's going on and maybe reverse it. But looking back, I guess it's a form of self preservation because if they managed to bring Mikkel back, he wouldn't exist.

Pacing...
songod-950036 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Much like "Sharp Objects" the pacing of this show is draining. Everything seems to move in slow motion. Granted life is not quick cut, but honestly, must I be made to feel like I am walking through the fields\woods??

These wasted moments between actual story movement drag the viewing experience down to a duty. As in "I started this I must finish it". Seeing there is another season with a third planned I fear this is going to be like "Lost", in that there will be no real ending or any sort of viewer satisfaction factor.

And how could there be when you're telling a tale about time? Time, as portrayed here and theorized by Einstein, is fluid. The past, the present, and the future all happening at once, rather than in a linear order. This series could drag on and on and never end as time itself never ends!
