Depressingly Sad and Badly Remade Film

It is given that one HAS to compare a remade film to it's original. But let's say we don't. Yet, the film had a badly written screenplay, horrible acting, bad editing except for the cinematography which was better than the rest of the departments. It's a shame that this is a remake of a grand film called "Ulidavaru Kandante". Pity.

Waste movie...

The director don't have any common sense, He don't have any idea what he is trying to tell to the public. He don't know what is the meaning of thurokam.

I really don't know what is the reviewing committee do, why they are allowing to release these type of useless films.

A great example when a person don't have any knowledge and common sense and produced a movie this is the one.

Total waste of time....

Capsule Review: Richie

Richie almost feels like a gimmick, made only to cash in on the lead actor's popularity in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere after his tantalizing performance in Alphonse Putharen's Premam (2015). For there's no other reason why someone would make such an aimless film about nothingness. Nivin Pauly stars as this rowdy hitman who works for a local ganglord and does petty jobs to stay alive after having spent nearly 8 years in a shady juvenile home. With a reporter tailing him in order to write a story, Richie finds himself at crossroads between his boss and an old friend who has something to do with his past. The film tries to showcase its lead character, Richie, as an "all-menacing guy with a heart" and uses repetitive background score to emphasize that, but that's one of the first things missing from Pauly's performance. For people who have watched and appreciated him play roles can easily attribute this failure to the amateur direction, which is also clearly visible on other actors, notably Shraddha Srinath. Director Gautham Ramachandran has styled his feature as a gangster film, but he has also tried to stuff stories about romance and friendship in between which makes him lose track of the genre. With absolute zero humor, Richie feels like a lost opportunity that could have been a better film had it been fundamentally rewritten and if a purpose could be etched out. As for its current state, this film is tasteless and unappealing. TN.

Not a good remake, but still watchable

Richie is definitely Nivin Pauly's ambitious project but acting in a remaked film was a bad choice. Rakshit shetty(director/actor/writer) of ulidavaru kandante(Kannada version) has done a marvelous work in terms of everything. We do go with high expectations because its original work was excellent and we do expect this tamil version to repeat the same. while ulidavaru kandante was a anthology neo-noir crime-drama film but this tamil version misses a lot of it.

Positives- 1.) Nivin Pauly swag look and acting (Not as good as rakshit shetty but still good try)

Occassion turns to consideration

I didn't watch the original version but still the script of the movie is brilliant. Making, bgm , plotting the story, portraying characters was terrific according to me. The movie's teaser and trailer gave much anticipitation about this movie for the mass masala fans.. when it completely turns to an unique one the mass masala fans couldn't receive the movie..

This movie will be a cute memory in my life..
