10? Really????
kbaxws12 October 2021
Many of the reviews here are 10? Huh? What movie did they watch? Lol

But to give it a little credit, I did like the story idea, somewhat original. The lead actors weren't bad either. But the plot was all over the place and the flow and direction weren't great. The movie was definitely low budget but the team made the most of it.

However this is definitely a B movie, no way a 10.

And as mentioned it has some original ideas and keeps you hooked to see the end. The end had a bit of a good twist too, so wait for that.

who writes the fake reviews and why bother

Warning: Spoilers
It's like a bookie tampering with odds at a horse race, like in "The Grifters". When you get this disproportionate splatter of 10/10 reviews that are almost identical, one or two lines and no analysis of why, this would seem symptomatic of synthetic voting to raise an average. Maybe an actors cousins and nieces and pals all chip in, whatever.

I like Paul Sorvino and was trying to see something different he was in and stumbled into this. It is sure not the worst movie I've seen, and maybe if they gave him more to do it would have gained a little more interest.

One tends to think a reader of something like this has already seen the flick, and wants to see if their opinion is corroborated, or is trying to make a decision. In either case, Iy has its redeeming qualities, but not too many, but stilll, interesting enough to keep me watching it .

The premise that goes sci-fi semi-horror, cores around latent and blatant middle class home security fears of robbery, invasion etc. Sorvino plays a salesman, (he's revealed to be more then that), who shows up unannounced at a prospect's home to sell them on the ultimate sci-fi like device. This device is marketed as the ultimate protection, but of course it has a malign special hidden corporate agenda.

In a way it is very similar in structure to "The Box" with Cameron Diaz, but far less surreal and disorganized as that periodically interesting mess.

Sorvino's good enough here, and always brings presence to his parts, but they should have given him more to do, and the other players fill out their mannequin roles predictably as it degenerates into a suspense non-thriller, a race to see if the increasingly twisted "bad daddy", and his crazed behavior, can be stopped.

It wraps with a mild twist ending that is self-conscious and predictable and my final impression was, when the new salesman knocks on a door, is "what a ludicrous looking hat he's wearing."

I suppose I think most any movie is worth a review, mainly good or mainly bad, because of the "mainly". There are things of interest scattered in here, and I wouldn't avoid it. But I can think of several movies where the main star's talents have been putto better use.

Terrible!

Bad acting. Bad writing. Bad movie. Bad bad bad. How it got a 4.2, only by fake reviews. I wish I could get my life back watching this. Now I have a bad headache.

Barely entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
Notice only my review and maybe two others are telling the truth, and neither are high rating. All the others are 10s and full of bull loney.

This was not good. Characters were introduced and then never mentioned again. The mood swings were off the charts unbelievable, and I have bipolar! The family made sense in the beginning, but then didn't by the second act. No one got in trouble for any of the murders or assualts. It was just pure trash. You didn't care what happened to anyone because they were unrelatable and unlikable. What a waste of talent for our main antagonist. He does much better work than this.

My but this is a depressing little number. The downward spiral is difficult to watch. The acting is good, but the hell is relentless. Maybe watch this over the course of two or three evenings.

Didn't expect much from this movie but I was surprised that it was quite entertaining. It's quick pacing kept me watching. And all the actors were very good...

Great movie, very entertaining with a cool and interesting concept. Grant Bowler was great as the lead and the rest of the cast supported the movie very well. You won't be disappointed!

Home Security Thriller
byronpriebe27 January 2021
I found this movie to be quite suspenseful and maintaining a current day theme: by fusing Modern Technology and Residential Security.

Much of the film's suspense was epecially evident when I watched Grant Bowler & his tormented-pondering, which was continuously displayed on his face! His performance was so "in the moment", that it was fresh with emotion!

Also, I loved Michelle Danner's Directorial Focus on the eyes of the Actors! I have rarely scene a Director implement that into a film- to the degree, which she has & I loved it!

Michelle Danner is an artist!

Interesting take on the fears we all have of automation and what can go wrong. Worthy of your time to watch and enjoy. Michelle delivers another movie which places art before shallow-hype.

Bad Impulse is an excellent film with a great cast. I especially loved Grant Bowler, Sonya Walger, Nicholas Danner and Paul Sorvino. The plot of the film is unpredictable and therefore very exciting. I'm looking forward to the next Michelle Danner film.
