The basic storyline is very good - 3 orphans making a living as rag pickers and who aspire for a decent life, unintentionally get entangled in a high stakes political plot. A significant portion of the movie is about how these orphans cleverly evade getting killed. These events coincide with the government announcing Demonetization on 8 Nov, 2016.
But the ending did not make any sense to me whatsoever. Once the Minister Rajamanickam (played by Cheenu Mohan) gets the microchip to be used to open the bank vault, why does he need these 3 guys? Why does he force these 3 guys to go into the bank vault and get the currency notes for him? Any of the ministers trusted henchmen could have done this. The minister should have killed these 3, logically speaking. I emphasize so much on the logic because the rest of the movie was very believable and logical.
There was needless propaganda also. The movie says that if you question "Demonetization", you will be jailed. Nothing of that sort happened actually. Even today, there are news articles debating how useful demonetization actually was. Nobody is jailed for writing those articles.
The movie also projects as if demonetization led to people's savings becoming useless. That wasn't the case actually. We could always deposit the old notes in a bank account. People who didn't have a bank account could open one and then deposit their old cash. That way, people join the mainstream banking system, which was the goal of the whole exercise of demonetization, anyway.
My point is - You can criticize demonetization, but don't resort to spreading falsehood.
In summary, the movie is worth a watch.
