The titular Artik (Jerry G. Angelo) is a comic book obsessed serial killer who spends his days sketching and his nights teaching his son Adam how to get away with murder, literally, until the boy befriends a mysterious man, Holton (Chase Williamson), who threatens to expose their horrifying family secret.
I’m not going to lie. There’s no way these days that I can give Any film starring Chase Williamson an unbiased review… The actor has been a solid performer for years, appearing in a myriad of genre films, including two of my favourite modern horrors: Sequence Break and John Dies at the End. As such I find myself enjoying films on his performance alone – and Artik is no different.

Lauren Ashley Carter with Jerry G Angelo in Artik
Three years ago my colleague Paul interviewed Lauren Ashley Carter about her striking performance in Mickey Keating’s Darling. Since then she’s appeared in the likes of Imitation Girl, Black Site and Darlin’, always making an impression, and now she can be seen as the loyal partner of a serial killer in Tom Botchii Skowronski’s Artik.
Though present in only a few scenes, the character of Flin is vital to the story, contextualising Artik’s actions and humanising a family on the brink. She also proves to be quite formidable in her own right. Two things persuaded Lauren to say yes to the role, she says.
“It was not a character that I’d ever played before and that’s something that I always look for, especially when I’m staying in the same genre, so that was the...

"I've always found myself gravitating towards chaos." Epic Pictures + Dread have unveiled the first official trailer for a new serial killer thriller titled Artik, which just premiered at the Popcorn Frights Film Fest in Florida. This indie film is a "shockingly violent and very engaging" serial killer horror about a comic book obsessed murderer who teaches his son how to get away with all the killings. That is, until he befriends a mysterious man who threatens to expose everything. Chase Williamson stars as Holton Shudcase, with Jerry G. Angelo as "Artik", plus a small cast including Lauren Ashley Carter, Matt Mercer, David Robbins, and Gavin White. This definitely looks like it's only for die-hard horror fans who can stomach this kind of violence. Featuring a very colorful poster by artist Christopher Shy - which you can see below. We recently shared details on Artik, a film following a serial killer who loves comics, sunflower farming, his family, and most likely killing. Now, we have a new featurette for the movie eyeing a theatrical and streaming release in the near future. We also have details on What Still Remains and Parlour Tricks.
Watch the New Artik Featurette: "Comic Book fandom meets Punk Rock with a bloody twist in new horror thriller, Artik.
The story centers around a family-run sunflower farm, where comic-book obsessed serial killer Artik (Jerry G. Angelo), his life partner Flin (Lauren Ashley Carter), and their family of foster kids are on the hunt for the ultimate comic-book hero. Until Holton (Chase Williamson), an Al-Anon attending straight edge, punk purist, comes between them.
Artik is writer/director Tom Botchii’s feature film debut and marks the first joint release from Tlg Motion Pictures and Have Not Films.
