Missing Alice
Prismark1028 October 2021
A surprisingly breezy and cheerful episode.

Alice talks about her life and her husband Michael.

Set in 1957, Alice talks to the camera from a gay pub at a time when homosexuality is illegal.

The Wolfenden report might change all that.

Alice became a single mother at 16 years of age. Her family treated her as an outcast at church.

However Michael's family think Alice would make a suitable wife him.

Alice realises that on her wedding night that he expresses little physical interest. He spends a lot of evenings out where he comes home with expensive gifts.

Alice finds out that her husband is gay but they do have a daughter together. Eventually she allows him to bring his male lovers home. At least she can spend more time with him this way.

Rebecca Front really sells it with Alice's positivity. The ending is very endearing.
