You need to be well versed in Polari for this monologue by Ian Gelder.

Maybe the language is a tribute to camp duo Julian and Sandy from Round the Horne.

Gelder plays elderly tailor Jackie. It is 1967 and homosexuality has been decriminalised.

It is a world where Jackie fears that might not have a place for him anymore. The young men will now fall in love and have long lasting relationships just like their parents.

This is something that does not interest Jackie. He is still up for furtive meets in gay bars and looking for temporary lovers even if it has to be paid for.

He recounts his own past experiences. Such as when he was in the army and made some extra money on the side as a rent boy. Or the American soldier he had for one perfect night.

A monologue with zest and a yearning for the past effectively delivered by Gelder.
