The West Side Curmudgeon calls for the return of Lincoln Plaza Cinemas. Built in 1981, the underground theatre which at its peak had six screens was a popular art house venue known for independent and foreign films. The venue closed in early 2018 after the death of one of its operators, 91-year old Dan Talbot, followed by the property owner refusing to extend the lease. Despite assurances that another theater would return to the venue after structural repairs, the theater remained closed some five years later. A spiritual successor founded by a group of cinephile Lincoln Plaza fans, dubbed the New Plaza Cinema, made its debut six months after the original cinema's closure. A 2018 documentary, Lincoln Plaza Cinema Memories (2018), looks back at the 38-year history of the Lincoln Plaza Cinema.
In the opening scene Grace is talking to Mrs. Timer who says she has lived in the apartment directly below Grace & Will for the last 19 years, however, later in the series she is shown to be in the apartment 9B which is next to Will & Grace.
As well in Season 1 episode 9 "The Big Vent" there is a different couple seen living below apartment 9C.
