Fans are ravenous for more Hazbin Hotel, as the exact release of the hit animated series' Season 2 remains a question.
Season 2 of the R-rated Amazon Prime Video comedy will bring back the same colorful cast of demons from Season 1, following the denizens of Hell as they aim to see if a sinner can ever truly be redeemed.
A sophomore effort for the series was confirmed alongside the announcement of Season 1, but creator Vivienne "Vivziepop" Medrano and Prime Video have yet to confirm when Hazbin will return.

Vivienne Medrano, creator of Hazbin Hotel, already revealed how Alastor died on Earth but also expanded on why he's always seen with a smile.
Alastor, voiced by Amir Talai, was a former radio host and cannibalistic serial killer on Earth before being sent to Hell and quickly ascending to the rank of Overlord.
The means of this abnormal rise to power is a constant question throughout the series, and some fans have even connected it to his permanent grin.

Hazbin Hotel’s Musical Storytelling
This….. Is musical storytelling at its finest. Spawning from a 2019 viral YouTube pilot, A24, Amazon Prime, and creator Vivienne Medrano’s Hazbin Hotel has quickly proven itself to be a massive success; boasting the largest global debut for an animated series on Prime Video….. Ever and scoring rave reviews from both critics and audiences, with Decider’s Raven Brunner praising the “queer, raunchy, and fun” animated series for its “exciting character arcs” and “thrilling story.”
Indeed, one doesn’t have to look too hard at Hazbin Hotel’s unique animation and art style, shockingly dense plot and lore, and unabashedly vulgar sense of humor to see why it’s amassed such a large audience so quickly.

Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano recently pulled the curtain back on some of Season 2's story.
After building a devoted fanbase on YouTube over the last couple of years, the hit animated comedy was finally brought to TV screens by A24 and Amazon Prime Video.
Following the denizens of a hotel for redemption-seeking demons in the fiery depths of Hell, this R-rated musical romp has been a surefire streaming hit, making the decision to greenlight both Seasons 1 and 2 at the same time look like a smart one by the studios responsible.

To say I was excited for Invincible Season 2 Part 2 would be an understatement. Since its debut in 2021, Robert Kirkman and Prime Video’s dark and brutal yet consistently earnest take on the superhero genre has been by far one of its best works; a major standout in a market filled to bursting with superhero media and without a doubt the best the genre has been on television to date.
And Season 2’s first half continued and expanded on the solid foundations set by Season 1 with great character work, clever explorations of the multiverse, and the show’s trademark epic and brutal action sequences. And the cliffhanger ending with the legendary Clancy Brown as General Kreeg taking Omni-Man prisoner? Who wouldn’t immediately want to know what happens next?
I am happy to report that Season 2’s second half delivers on these promises in spades. A truly exemplary work of superhero...

There was music in the air throughout Super Bowl Lviii. Usher wooed the masses with his singing at the halftime show, and even Ryan Gosling outed himself as a Swiftie in a brand-new trailer for "The Fall Guy." But you know the one place where there wasn't any onscreen singing? The game's first look trailer for "Wicked," "In the Heights" director Jon M. Chu's upcoming two-part film adaptation of one of the most pop-u-lar stage musicals in Broadway history.
Save for a few snippets of off-screen singing (including Cynthia Erivo belting out the show-stopping "Defying Gravity"), the "Wicked' trailer was devoted exclusively to spoken dialogue. This isn't anything new, either. "Wonka," "The Color Purple," and "Mean Girls" were almost single-handedly responsible for keeping theaters afloat in January, yet you might have not realized these films were full of singing and dancing if you went in having only watched their trailers.

A Detailed Solo Leveling Anime Guide —The New Hit Webtoon-Turned Anime (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Sung Jin Woo’s attempt to redeem his lost honor after being labeled mankind’s weakest hunter and going through one of the most life-changing, near-death experiences in its pursuit is what makes “Solo Leveling” so appealing to the masses. The idea that a normal, almost below-average human can ascend to Godhood is a distant concept for us, so seeing it on screen is obviously going to catch our attention.
“Solo Leveling,” originally a web novel, was adapted into a webtoon in 2018 and instantly started making rounds around the internet because of its gorgeous art and compelling storyline. It came to an end in 2021 and had a few side stories released under its name in 2023. But that’s not what revived the buzz around this mega-hit series. The actor behind Alastor from Amazon Studios' Hazbin Hotel animated series shared one of the things they hope to see for the show's Season 2, which has already been greenlit.
Before Hazbin Hotel ever hit Prime Video, it faced an uphill battle. Despite having a huge following with only a prototype pilot released in 2019, the show already had controversies—such as recasting and redesigning most of its original cast.
But the project has gotten over those and has been a hit, with many fans only hoping to see more episodes sooner rather than later.

The final episodes of Hazbin Hotel are out, and I found them to be quite exciting, to say the very least. The battle between Hell and Heaven in a musical format with quite a bit of swearing was pretty interesting to see, and even though I didn’t enjoy some parts, the philosophy of the show is something that could have worked in a feature film too. It’s the joy and fun plus the total abandon that animation brings that perhaps the live action may not have been able to match up to. In the previous episodes, Charlie’s plans had failed up to the point that Adam was more eager than ever to come down to Hell with his army and take part in the semi-annual extermination. Now only a few days remain, and we will see how the battle between Hell and Heaven goes down.

At the end of 2022, I was given the Goliath task of explaining to our readers (and much of our staff) why the internet had gone completely feral over the animated design of the Devil Daddy himself, Lucifer Morningstar, on "Hazbin Hotel." Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano debuted the animated musical pilot for "Hazbin Hotel" on YouTube in 2019, funded entirely by Medrano's Patreon followers and brought to life completely by freelance animators. It quickly went viral and generated a diehard fanbase, one that exists on the fringes of fandom circles and well outside of four-quadrant entertainment.
It's adult animation, but too edgy for the constraints of something like "The Simpsons." It's as raunchy as "South Park," but caters to a queerer audience base. [This story contains mild spoilers for season one of Hazbin Hotel.]
“On paper, there’s a lot of people that might say no to something like this — a very raunchy animated musical comedy world written by a young woman,” Hazbin Hotel star Stephanie Beatriz tells The Hollywood Reporter. But for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Encanto actress, showrunner Vivienne Medrano’s “weird, cool, fantastical imagination” has produced a series that is not only “delightfully horny, unhinged and ridiculous,” but uniquely special beyond its “small minutiae of cock jokes.
“It somehow manages to have this throughline of true gay love and this very big idea about whether it’s possible to redeem a soul, to change after being damned for all time,” she says of A24’s first foray into animation and Prime Video’s latest push into the medium’s R-rated adult space. “I just love Vivienne’s world-building.”
Broadway star and lead voice actress Erika Henningsen offers similar praise.

One of the most exciting new animated series this year is Hazbin Hotel, a Prime Video series from Vivienne Medrano that tells the surreal tale of Charlie Morningstar (voiced by Erika Henningsen), the princess of Hell, who tires of an annual purge whereby angels descend from Heaven to smite demons, and, along with her girlfriend Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz), creates the Hazbin Hotel — a rehab clinic of sorts for those in Hell so that they can gain entry into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The new episodes of Hazbin Hotel are out, and it looks like Charlie has not yet given up on the idea that Hell-dwellers can be redeemed. The next extermination was coming soon, and Charlie needed to get a meeting with Heaven. She didn’t know whom to contact. Previously, she had contacted Heaven’s embassy and had been shunned by Adam. Now she wanted to meet with a higher authority, as she truly believed there had been some progress. She had nothing to show for it, but it was just her wishful thinking on display, and her delusion had to be supported by Vaggie, who hid a terrible secret about her life. The fifth episode introduced us to Lucifer, a depressed dad, trying to live out his meaningless existence who gets surprised when Charlie asks for help.

Hazbin Hotel, the first foray into animation for award-winning studio A24, is actually not new, despite having debuted on Prime Video just last Friday.
The R-rated musical comedy originated online as a 30-minute pilot in 2019 and quickly won over a fanbase that has largely stuck by it since its self-funded days. The series follows princess of Hell Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), who in an attempt to stop the angels from murderously purging her demonic subjects, opens a hotel to help rehabilitate them. The goal: Turn these sinners into saints unable to be wiped out by the (unsettlingly terrifying) angels.
She’s joined — in certain cases against their will — by friends, funders and her father (that’s Lucifer voiced by Jeremy Jordan). That includes Charlie’s grounded girlfriend Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz); exasperated bartender Husk (Keith David); sex worker and rehabilitation Guinea pig Anthony “Angel Dust” (Blake Roman); Alastor the “Radio Demon...

It’s check-in time at “Hazbin Hotel,” where there are always vacancies but where Charlie, princess of Hell, is making sure you leave your baggage behind. I didn’t think I needed to see an adult animated series made solely around the concept of Hell and Heaven, but Hazbin Hotel has changed my mind. In this trippy and weird animated musical about the politics of damnation and redemption, one can feel like the makers have taken inspiration from old cartoons and infused some dark themes that we generally reserve for gritty dramas. There is a witty story drawn from Adam and Eve describing how Hell was formed, and soon we are plunged into Hell, the origin of all monstrosity, but Heaven has its part to play in it as well. The cheeky and blasphemous nature of the series makes it a risky adventure, but there are some interesting characters in the show that are skillfully explored within this microcosm.

Hazbin Hotel is awash with controversy despite having only just released on Amazon Prime Video.
The R-rated animated comedy from renowned online creator Vivienne Medrano comes as Prime Video's first major tentpole title of 2024, taking fans behind the curtain on a cuss-filled blood-lusting musical journey to hopefully rehabilitate the inhabitants of Hell.
Ever since the series' animated pilot debuted back in 2019 (before getting picked up by Amazon and A24 for a full series order), Hazbin has been pushing the envelope, with many critical of its edgy humor and gratuitous violence.

Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.

The 2023-2024 primetime television season looked nothing like previous years, with reruns, unscripted shows, and international imports populating broadcast networks’ lineups. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, though undeniably justified, took quite a toll on all the networks. Fortunately, the strikes have been settled, production has begun on nearly every new and returning series, and the midseason January lineup hints that things are slowly returning to normal.
Here’s a look at the shows scheduled to launch their new season – or series – premieres in January 2024. NBC’s Chicago shows – Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. – will kick off new seasons on January 17th, with the Law & Order franchises returning on January 18th. New highly anticipated series debuting in January include Echo, Expats, Masters of the Air, The Brothers Sun, and Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale.

Midseason is the new fall.
As Hollywood and the broader industry continue to recover from the debilitating dual actors and writers strikes, the 2024 television landscape is coming into focus. All of the broadcast networks have set return dates for most of their shows, with the postponed Emmy Awards now set for January 15 and no usual Premiere Week to speak of.
But as series return to production with lower episode counts this truncated season, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.
The roster covers hundreds of broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting through 2024, with many listed as Tba as the year kicks off. It includes series and season debuts, shows returning from hiatus and some one-offs such as live sports and awards specials but not movies. The list includes shows that are in limbo for now but are likely to get premiere dates in the coming months.
