Nearly 70 years ago, monster movies changed forever with the introduction of Godzilla. The Japanese prehistoric monster awoke from its slumber in 1954 to terrorize villagers from Odo Island, announcing its presence with loud, lumbering footsteps and a bone-chilling roar. Since the original "Godzilla," kaiju movies have become a subgenre all their own, populated by epic monsters like Mothra and Ghidorah, with regular installments that range from corny to incredible.
In recent years, Hollywood has gotten in on the Godzilla game with Legendary Pictures' own spin on the world of giant monsters. But as exciting as it is to watch Kyle Chandler, Brian Tyree Henry, and Millie Bobby Brown face off against Godzilla, Japanese studio Toho (home to the vast majority of Godzilla flicks ever made) has something even more thrilling up its sleeve: a movie that looks poised to recapture the post-war terror of the beloved original. This Chainsaw Man review contains spoilers.
Chainsaw Man Episode 1
Every year it seems like anime gets weirder, wilder, and more creative. There’s a natural tendency to keep moving forward that continues to push the medium to extreme places. This excess can function at the series’ surface level, but it’s also led to a trend where stylized expressions of magic, energy, or even violence can become powerful metaphors for the internal problems that consume us all. A lot of anime have pushed this idea to the extreme, but few are more ridiculous than Chainsaw Man, an anime where a mild-mannered teen named Denji transforms into a chainsaw-limbed God of destruction. In Chainsaw Man, this weapon’s engine revs loudly and body parts and viscera fly with reckless abandon, but the noise of this spectacle doesn’t drown out the heart and soul of the characters underneath.

In the western world, gambling themes have appeared in many movies and tv series, from Vegas Vacation to Let it Ride, The Cooler and Ocean’s Eleven. These themes usually appear in drama or comedy genres and have proven to be very popular.
However, in other cultures where gambling is more of a taboo topic, the idea of gambling appearing in a tv series or movie is rare. That is until the recent Japanese manga series, Kakegurui appeared on Netflix. With gambling themes being particularly rare for this genre, the series has sparked a lot of interest in Japanese anime, while driving an interest in poker.
Anime and Japanese Manga are themes used in the gambling industry, with various slot games being based upon the anime genre. JackpotCity online casino offers a wide range of themed slot games for players to choose from, all which are easily accessible on mobile devices.

Kakegurui is a Japanese manga that has been successful enough for it to receive an animated adaptation. For those who are unfamiliar, the name can be translated to mean “gamble crazy.” Something that should give interested individuals a good idea of what to expect. In further detail, Kakegurui is set in a school meant for the children of the Japanese elite, who are expected to become members of the Japanese elite themselves in the future. Curiously, the students don’t determine their internal hierarchy based on either athletic ability, academic performance, or social status. Instead, they rank themselves by gambling against

Arguably one of the best shows on television right now, Killing Eve‘s third season deserves a lot more praise than it got.
“Superb, stylish, and tragically beautiful are just a few words to describe Killing Eve as a whole, though the third season of this BBC hit, in particular, was especially brilliant, despite what the many negative reviews written by cis male critics say. Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, and the rest of the cast delivered stellar performances, as usual, but it wasn’t simply the performances that tied the season together—it was also the character development throughout.”

Creed Bratton weighs in on whether or not his character of the same name on The Office could be the Scranton Strangler.
“No character from The Office is more mysterious than Creed Bratton. Much of what he says is either unsettling or downright disturbing,...

The UK’s largest festival of Japanese cinema is back for its 17th edition under the concept of ‘happiness’.
Happiness, though universal in its importance, is felt so subjectively by humankind that the definition of the concept is still very elusive. And yet, the search for happiness has long provided Japanese cinema with a staple theme, and it is within its framework that the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2020 has been curated.
Embracing the rich and complex spectrum of emotions that go hand in hand with this concept, the programme seeks to present the highs and lows experienced in pursuit of happiness in Japan, showcasing diverse cinematic voices as they shine a light on stories of love, social inclusion, the resilience of humankind through times of hardship, and non-conventional paths to achieving and maintaining joy. Since 2004, the Japan Foundation has showcased, in close partnership with distinguished film venues across the nation,...

Netflix is going all in on anime as they add the eagerly anticipated Godzilla movie and 12 other projects to their slate of upcoming programming. Deadline says in addition to the series the network is also overseeing the development of Cannon Busters, Devilman Crybaby, B: The Beginning, and Knights Of The Zodiac: Saint Seiya just to name a few.
The Godzilla and Saint Seiya grabs really show that Netflix is working to grab their Western audience who loves anime, but with competitors like Crunchyroll and Funimation (who was recently bought by Sony) in the mix, who knows if they'll be able to compete on that front. Time will tell, but the addition of so many projects seems promising for the future of anime on the platform.
Below you'll find details photos and some trailer for the anime projects that Netflix has picked up!
