Back on track!
supermaggie2 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Riverdale's first season was a blast. Despite being a story born in the 50ies (?), it was finally a refreshing, original, great new show (after all that time-travelling and twisted fairy-tale and DC rubbish etc.). The second season started bumpy, however, mainly due to an overly dramatic plot with parallels to The Outsiders and Scream and the like. Now don't get me wrong, I have loved The Outsiders ever since it was released in the 80ies and am happy, Riverdale ressurrected some of these classic/evergreen topics and imagery, and I absolutely adore the Scream-movies and their predescessor (if you will) "When a stranger calls", but for me these parallels had some kind of horseshoe/coerced feel to it in this very show. But approximately since episode 13 the second season is pretty much back on track. There is still severe and grand problems happening, but it feels more natural/round/fitting. And I personally loved episode 17. And I had been hoping (spoiler alert:) that FP and Alice would get (back) together! I had the suspicion that FP was the father of Betty's brother right from when Chic's existence was revealed (although it has not been confirmed yet, don't know if I believe Alice's denial). I also suspected that Chic was responsible for some of Black Hood's doings, therefore the fixation on Betty and the two diverse handwritings on the two letters by Black Hood, but maybe this topic will not be taken up again. Anyhow: Great to see this incredibly entertaining and well-cast and well-made show back at the level where it started out from. Can't wait to see more.

Show is slipping...

Warning: Spoilers
The show started out great. The first season was amazing, the second season had a rocky start and then it got better, but now.. now it's almost unbearable.

Archie has lost all of his ideals that he used to have. Now he protects criminals, for the sole reason of staying with Veronica. He wanted to fight the criminals, not join them.

Archie is making it extremely difficult for me to enjoy the show. I don't know what the writers of the show are thinking, but something has got to change, fast.

One thing I liked about the past few episodes is Cheryl out of all people. Her character got a back story that mattered again, yay.

I hope the writing does something amazing so that I can start liking Archie and Veronica again, because at the moment, they are no better than Hiram nor Hermione.

Awful

I absolutely loved the first season and some of season 2, but what I don't understand and can't bare to watch, is the complete different character that is now Archie, he may as well be a new character all together because he is that different from the begining. The whole situation with him and veronica is just painful to watch, I am really hoping it gets better over the next few episodes or I will be stopping watching it!!
