I liked the whole series, always knowing something sinister was coming with the revelation of what happened that night. But i was not ready. I felt sick to my stomach, and I have seen some f'd up shows. TV at it's best. Seen it last night, and today I'm at work still having trouble shaking that awful sensation. I don't get moved easily. Well done gentleman, well done.

All good bu this episode ROCKED
monsterfeetmedia14 September 2017
This has been a great series so far but this episode was on another level entirely. I don't usually review, but I had to say something because if the filmmakers could have made every episode like this one, they might have just made the best show ever, reminded me of the best moments of Lost Season1, things like Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club maybe, but also had a rhythm to the entire thing like Thin Red Line, bloody, bloody brilliant...

Worth It

I was not sure about this series at first. There were some things I liked and some things I did not. There were times when I did not know where the story was going. After watching this episode, I am glad I stuck with it. Some big questions get answered. Jessica Beil gives a great performance. You cannot take your eyes off her. I look forward to watching the last episode.

Breathtaking

This episode was literally breathtaking. I literally felt all the confusion, suffocation, anxiety and the eerie euphoria of Cora. It made feel like i ride a roller coaster, which has no rails and yet again i craved for the end. Accordingly the uncanny catharsis of characters(Cora and her sister especially) was so captivating in all sense.

Don't miss this one!

This episode was something else. I haven't felt moved like this while watching a movie or series in at least a decade. The season was good already, but even if it weren't, it would be worth to watch all 8 episodes for the sake of this one.

Wasn't expecting that

This episode was one of the hardest things to watch. It unwound slowly, explaining what happened that night and giving a twist that was mind blowing. The clues that led to the explanation throughout the series were so subtle it was almost impossible to catch them. This episode alone makes me want to catch the second season.

This episode gets a 9, this season gets a 7, because...
Top_Dawg_Critic20 April 2020
...this season is basically a long dragged out episode of Law & Order SVU.

The entire dominatrix to cause pain to Ambrose is just a dramatical red herring. Plus Pullman seemed to drag his feet to the point I wanted to slap him to start acting and give his lame zombie-like character some life.

Although the directing was great, having a 2 second blank screen between acts, makes the slower than a snail pacing that much more annoying.

As mentioned, this could've been condensed to one episode, maybe two of Law & Order SUV, a a full length feature film, if you want to include some of the unnecessary dramatics.

Overall, an interesting long dragged out crime thriller, without that much crime or thrills.

7/10 for season 1, 9/10 for this episode. Not sure if I'll tackle season 2

Superb Movement, Mostly in Flashback
Hitchcoc31 July 2023
The authorities go against their better judgment and all Harry to take Cora back to places that are fragments of her recollection. This is a bit of a stretch, but Harry has her handcuffed and risks a felony to take her out. Also, the police will have no trouble arresting the two of them. This is hit and miss and a dangerous thing to do because it could be the only chance left. An epiphany takes place near the end, but how can it exonerate her? Harry's life is already in shambles and he doesn't want it more complicated, but his moral compass wants this last thing. He is more concerned with right than the usual things that would make a life fulfilling.

The worst episode of the first season
adverts21 February 2021
The Sinner's first season is very good, but this episode is hard to swallow. A very ill 19 year old who has essentially has never left her house goes to a night club and an all night party and handles herself like it's second nature. Very little awkwardness, etc. The only very believable part about it is that she looks YOUNGER than 19...which makes sense considering her illness and her upbringing. Usually, films/TV shows depict teenagers looking OLDER than they are supposed to be.

In an otherwise captivating series, this episode was excruciatingly boring. Fast-forwarded through most of it.
