Almost realistic but misses the target
MickyG3338 June 2023
5.4 stars.

This is about as real as it gets and yet it misses the mark by a longshot. This is a film about a bunch of people pretending to be Christians, and although we know that is what we might get from a movie like this, it still caught me by surprise. Being one of the lowest rated films for me in the past year, it goes without saying I'm disappointed. The real theme is this: 'A Walk with Grace' portrays several very pretty women (uncharacteristically) who are strutting around in order to get the attention of the men. They are in church, walking around the town, in the school for wrestling matches (this seems to be the real theme at times). There is a Christian gathering in a bar, they sing Amazing Grace, the guitar work is brilliant, but they are drinking (some of them heavily) and trading glances and doing a "dance" where all the single men are eying all the single women in order to "hook up" in a subtle way, probably to make it seem like it's all done in some Christian fashion. In that respect this film is a genuine rendition of a gathering of "religious" people just playing the game of life and trying to uphold some sort of facade. I've seen this sort of group behavior my whole life in the church gathering settings. All I can leave you with is that I won't judge the depiction of what people might really be like in this sort of situation, because this seems realistic and frankly - unfortunate.

The protagonist is not really that, he's a confused man who is still mourning the death of his wife. His daughter is actually the best part of the film, but she gets way too few scenes in which to shine. The "main" female is Grace, but she doesn't carry the role at all. She seems like a secondary trying to fit into a primary role, yet the writing is splintered and unorthodox, thereby diminishing any impact from her character. The sister in law is way too pretty to be strutting around and getting with the police officer, it makes no sense, why is she even here? And the actual sister is like an enemy/stranger. Her role is just alien to the whole story and makes zero sense. This film needs to start from scratch with a new screenwriter and director. The actors, cinematography, and editing have a lot of potential, the writing is bad... really bad. The director dropped the ball.

What the what?

We found this on Pure Flix. It was... weird. Drunks and kids all having a blast Together at the local bar. Dancing to a Hymn? That was new. It's like it's a parody of a Christian film! I'm still trying to process this film. But I'll recommend you not bother with it.

Character and moral development, that is not seen in present day movies. Alot of sticken it to each other type humor. Some romance for young and middle age. Latina, black and elder roles, a plus.

"A Walk with Grace" was pure, energetic Americana and it had a clear message of the joy of returning to the truly important things in life. A nice family film with something for everyone. Found my self with a big grin a number of times!

Great story line with positive message.

I watched the movie several times. Was able to purchase AWWG- The Movie on Amazon Prime. It sends the positive message of how families come together in making decisions. Shows how a guy from a big city goes to a small town in Ohio, and finds true meaning in life. It is entertaining, faith based, and good music by Ian Grey.

Lost In Middle America & found again!

A modern day retelling of the prodigal son returning home lost only to find himself again. A great faith-based, family centered story, masterfully woven together by a hometown legend, Nick Kellis, whose own story parodies this fantastic, feel good movie!

Return to Roots through Grace
mreynolds-0591029 March 2020
Just finished watching "A Walk With Grace" projected on our 42 inch Samsung TV. A great movie to watch in our "quarantine days". If you haven't watched it, this is what you can expect to see: A small town struggle to survive, relationships between family, blossoming romance, the struggles of the working man, spiritual struggles, light comedy, some drama, and more. All this packed into a 1 hour and 40 minute movie. A family movie, for the whole family. If you are looking to fill in the blank spaces of your quarantine days, or Easter family gathering (it's a Easter movie after all), then this is a must see movie.

Hard to find family movie
arianereynolds27 March 2020
My family and I loved this movie! It is very hard to find a movie you can watch with a 9 year old boy. We loved the fact that there were so many familiar faces in the cast, and enjoyed seeing beautiful parts of our country that we might not ever see here on the west coast. My son is in LOVE with the music scenes. There is a very special wrestling scene, that brings me to tears every time I watch this movie! To date - 4 times. Enjoy it!
