A French comedy without pretension
balearika28 July 2020
La Colle is about about a boy that is punished to spend two hours on detention with some other kids. These two hours will be the longest of his life as they keep repeating all over again in a time loop.

There is nothing really original in the plot and the characters are quite cliched and plain. However, the film kept me entertained because it has no pretensions. It doesn't pretend to be a great comedy or to introduce original concepts. It is just a comedy to spend an afternoon and it fulfilled its objective.

Nice moment for this clone of Groundog day/breakfast club

Lot of stereotypes, but the young actors are appealing.

It's a netflix movie, so don't expect great quality .

As all the french movie (except Jeunet) the lighting is neutral, no light effect, no nuance.

It shouldn't have been better, there is a lot of errors of continuity , but it's pleasant movie.

French Groundhog School Day
kosmasp16 August 2020
Actually it is detention and apart from Groundhog Day, there are also hints of Breakfast Club here. A nice mixture if I may say so. I actually thought that I would just watch this - not expecting anything. Anything at all to be truthful. But then I got sucked in. The way it is told, the way the actors interact with each other (yes they're probably too old in real life to be pupils or in the detention/class they are portrayed in - suspend your disbelief, this isn't the first movie to cast people like that) - also the way the script works.

Never was I tired to see the same thing, because that did not actually happen. The main goal/target of the main character may be "simple" (minded), but if you only have a glimmer of romance in you, you will accept it for what it is. I can also feel for the teachers watching this. It's anything but easy to deal with a group like this. Yes you have cliches and some simple jokes too here. But overall you can feel the heart is in the right place. And you can also feel how much fun they had shooting this - no one is without fault or flaws. You won't identify with the main character all the time (especially when he's being extremely vile or at least stupid) ... but it wouldn't be a journey (or loop), if he (we?) didn't learn anything from it ...

Un Jour Sans Fin
dbdumonteil18 June 2018
First thing to bear in mind: if those "students " are in high school, well I am ready for kindergarden ; the lad who plays Benjamin was born in 1989!the others,I do not know, but they are all over 20,some nearing 30;let's forget it and say they are backward for their age and they have fallen a long way behind at school.

Benjamin ,unfairly punished ,has got a two-hour detention ;but says the supervisor (?) who welcomes him ,in detention, seconds are minutes and minutes are hours ;and that's really saying something!

The poor lad is caught up in a time loop ,a time warp, and his punishment seems endless ;well ,you get the picture, it's "the groundhog day" all over again .

But to write that "La Colle " suffers in this comparison is an euphemism ;whereas the American movie had an excellent screenplay and good acting ,this dud has none of this : acting is awful ,the gags are heavy-handed ;the lines are witless and directing mindless.

It may be a mightmare for Ben ;it sure is one for the viewer too.

Groundhog day meets Breakfast Club
criscal21 January 2022
The main character is a Geek, who loves to draw Comics. On a web page he confesses his wish to always be together with his crush at school. This turns true, when he is getting into detention together with his crush. When he realizes that he is sent back to the start of detention whenever he is away from his crush for longer, he has to find a way out. The time loop of course gives him plenty of time to get to know himself, his crush and the others in detention, putting him on a path of redemption.

Overall, a nice variant of groundhog day.
