Still a good watch
pettymadz24 January 2021
I mean....I'll admit that it doesn't have the depth of other really well-crafted Kdramas, but it's still an entertaining show. I'd give it a 7.5 if IMDB would let me. Some parts of the show are cliche/corny and some of the acting could have been better. But still, to be fair, it had some pretty good moments too in terms of writing and acting, and I enjoyed it overall. Giving this 10 stars would be a stretch in my opinion, but for sure the 1 star reviews are just unfair. Still worth a watch.

Kang-soo To 🛵The Rescue *6.6* *Good* +Family Positive+ 💯%🔎
50fiftillidideeBrain20 June 2021
Here's a fable for the underdogs.

SDM follows the overlooked, everyday workers. They deliver when ☃ in winter, and 🔥 in summer, 💦 in spring, and through the lugubrious fall🍂. They are sneered more than cheered. SDM finds them forming a supportive group that gives all of them a lift.

Kang-soo is the catalyst who turns friends and acquaintances into family. This is contrasted against several real families in the show that tear each other apart. The family we choose is often the best we get.

Kang-soo shows up in town and lands a job at Lively Handmade Noodles. From there, he deconstructs the whole delivery system and then rebuilds it, all while outsmarting the powerful corporate eateries.

The storyline is entertaining, though formulaic. I don't see formulaic as necessarily the worst criticism. Life, and our shared human experience can be formulaic. It's the journey that is most important. The journey you will take with this crowd is fun, like a Disney Channel show.

This would be a good show to watch with kids as soon as they can keep up with the subtitles. It reinforces hard work, honor, helping others and living right. Kang-soo is a perfect role model. He exemplifies all the above. He inspired Ji-yoon to follow suit. He makes loyal friends out of strangers by helping others.

The actual romance falls slightly flat. I'm not sure if the cause is the dialogue, the directing, or just a lack of chemistry. Perhaps it's a little of all the above. The secondary characters' relationship was a better story.

SDM is actually best suited for tweens and teens, and parents won't mind watching along. It is a simple story in the After School Special tradition, and solidly PG/PG-13.

IMHO... 🎬7 🤔5 🎭8 💓5 Suggested Age 10& up.

The second lead couple
komalnegi-7648920 June 2021
I loved their bickering, making fun of each other, and helping each other through tough times. Honestly, every second while watching the drama I was waiting for their appearance.

But what about her mother ?
alaningle715 February 2022
A delivery driver keeps moving every two months to a different area in Seoul to find his mother who swindled him and his father then deserted them. He ends up living and working in an alley filled with restaurants which suddenly has a large conglomerate food company move in which plans to put them all out of business. He ends up leading them in a fight for survival and finds love along the way. I Liked the girl but was not convinced by the male lead and was more interested in some of the side characters. Probably a 6.5 as it's an ok watch which hopefully reminds everybody that delivery drivers deserve respect and should not be looked down on.

Don't judge a kdrama by it's title.
alizakim15 December 2020
I honestly didn't watched this drama before because the title gives me some vibes that the story would be so simple. But I watched because of Kim Seonho. And I just finished it now, I enjoyed the drama so much! The story is not that deep but the actors are so great, they portrayed their role very well. If you want a good laugh, a relaxing and not so heavy drama, this is for you.

I love Seonho's character and development here (the more I watched him, the more I fall haha). Gonna miss the casts huhu

A Blandly Executed David vs Goliath, Working-Class Romance
nishera30 December 2020
I probably would have rated this show a solid 7, but I took a whole star just because of that derpy haircut (because yes, however shallow it makes me, I really did find it THAT distracting)! To be honest, not much stuck out to me about this film. The feel-good, manga-like plot revolves around hard work, determination, family and friendship, but there was nothing unique or noteworthy in the way it was executed. The soundtrack needed a few more tracks to keep it fresh, and the two main leads (though fine actors in their own right) were just a mismatch IMO - both to their respective roles, and to each other. And despite there being 3+ couples who got together, the only romantic chemistry I felt during the entire show was between the Palpal restaurant owners.

Still, if you are looking for something with family-friendly values, there are worse shows out there. If you can get past the haircut, you might like it. Circumstantially Recommended.

ROMANCE RATING: 5/10. There are 5+ kiss scenes in this show (which is pretty liberal by traditional K-Drama standards), but the majority were brief and G-rated. Personally, I couldn't get into any of them because I just couldn't buy the chemistry between any of the couples (though your mileage may vary)!

so hilarious !!!
sarahkhoukhi31 January 2021
I can't call this drama '' Fun '' and do it justice, this is one of the best korean dramas, I've never been so entertained and i even laughed out loud several times. The only reason i started watching it, is because of the actor Kim Seon Ho from '' Start up '' and luckily for me i wasn't disappointed

Easy to watch and entertaining.
8avian11 September 2023
A more realistic, more natural history, without exaggerations. The script is well written, distributing balanced enough interesting content in all the episodes, without falling into exaggerations. A bit of small business, stories of love, friendship, solidarity, with humor. The team of actors is made up of experienced veterans, but also young actors, at that time at the beginning such as Kim Seon Ho and others. Chae Soo Bin has a demanding role, in which he shows his talent to express different emotions, he goes from hardness and hopelessness in society, a bit of martial arts, strikes more or less delicately 😂, humor then reaches feelings and more feminine approaches than the beginning as an independent woman. Go Kyung-Pyo also does a good role, like everyone else. It's the series with the highest density of shining eyes on the screen, the cinematography would have had something to do with it😍. There would be many things to note, but the best is to see. It doesn't bore you, it doesn't keep you in suspense for nothing, it's the work of a team that does exactly what it has to do, to entertain the audience. For me, as a European, they succeeded.

Good enough
PennyReviews4 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Though the story isn't something that you haven't seen before, it manages to deliver. It is quite enjoyable actually, with the romance actually pretty good, mainly because the couple had chemistry. The first episodes were a bit of a let down, with the story progressing slowly and some of the characters being very annoying. The story, fortunately, picked up. Even the final episode was quite interesting, which is quite rare for a K drama, as they usually sum up the story two episodes before the ending. Finally, the performances were okay from all the actors and the side stories were entertaining as well.

To Wild for me!!
EC10_Violation28 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The actors and the crew did good job which I felt was reflected. Where it fell short was in the story at times it felt flimsy and execution was to the extremes. I felt it for the ML especially in the beginning with his excessive righteousness. Especially with the 2nd ML Kim Sunho, Go Kyungpyo char was so mad at him for closing the street. But then later on they do the same thing and it's ok. Then in the scenes with businesses fighting it out, every move done by one party devastates the other where it knocks me out of the story and makes me think about economics instead. The stand out was Chae Soobin and her acting. Very expressive eyes. Overall it's worth a watch just not one of the best.

Comfort

Warning: Spoilers
At first I thought it was a bit cheesy, with the introductions, and typical over the top visuals and sounds. I almost didn't want to watch it, but I will have to thank Ko Kyung-Pyo for his strong performance as a male lead. I was captured by his acting as the earnest, hard working good boy he is. I could tell he was a character that held much more than what came with the initial image. I also enjoyed the story line I think in comparison, it was better than love alarm. Both shows hold extremely similar aspects. I enjoyed how the focus wasn't on a love triangle, but also each characters individual arc. The supporting cast has great screen time and interactions as well, I was so excited to see those familiar delivery boys whenever their faces showed up. I did want dong-soo and soon-ae to finally get together. They served as a parallel/ insight to what Dan-Ah and Kang Soo had brewing within their own relationship. I had hoped there would be more of a development there :/ overall this would be a comfort show for me it was light hearted, warm, affectionate, and held a story anyone could relate to. The cheesiness dies down to something tolerable and even funny. I'm happy I decided to watch this gem of two hard working stubborn individuals find love and family within their own community.

Tries to make ridiculous storyline
josealeekim5 January 2022
Protagonist is mad at the guy who blocked the road over the guy who actually hit his friend? Really?

It has some comical elements that I did like, but overall just can't root for the protagonist.

Great Slice of Life, well acted, hearwarming romance and friendships
leahcubed28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
9.5/10 is my rating This is a 2017 South Korean slice of life romantic drama series with 16, 60 minute episodes.

Synopsis Choi Kang-soo (Go Kyung-pyo) vowed to find the woman who abandoned him and his father and to become powerful enough to protect those around him. He has been a food deliveryman in most neighborhoods in Seoul in his quest to develop the skills and connections to start his own delivery service all the while seeking his mother. Lee Dan-ah (Chae Soo-bin) is a take no prisoners delivery driver who is earning money for the sole purpose of emigrating elsewhere. She wants out of Korea convinced it is the root of all her problems. Oh Jin-kyu (Kim Seon-ho) is the middle son of a Chaebol family and has always been told he was a loser so he set out to prove them right. That is until he encountered Dan-ah who has no patience for self pity. Lee Ji-yoon (Ko Won-hee) is the daughter of a CEO and her goal is to lead her own life not dictated by her family's wealth. These four young people are forever changed and enriched by their encounters with each other. Love and friendship develop in the course of their daily lives.

Review

I really love slice of life dramas. I feel like I get to lean some things about aspects of the culture. In this case it was food deliver and being a delivery person. It reminded me a lot of another drama I like a lot "Fight My Way" where the characters struggle with making a living in jobs that don't pay much beyond necessities. I loved Chae Soo-bin in "I am Not a Robot" and had I known she was in it would have watched this a lot sooner. Like most Korean dramas the title and summaries really do not do it credit. There is a villian, bromances, secrets in the past, and all the elements that make these compelling. The 2nd couples romance was well paced, believable and very heart warming. And there was even a third and forth couple although their stories were much more in the background. The rich versus the poor was another aspect explored in this drama and there was a thread of good versus evil. It was, for me, practically perfect in every way. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes romance, slice of life or who likes these actors. It was enjoyable the whole way through.

Spoilers** I do wish it was clear in the end whether, or not, the grandmother knew he was her grandson. She was such a nice person and he was so good to her I would have liked to have known she was told he was her grandson. It was not clear whether his brother was his half brother or if his mom had been pregnant before leaving with him where he would have been his full brother. That also was not fully fleshed out. Kang-soo and Dan-ah had really started the more intimate portion of their relationship so it really felt like they just got together fully. I think that is a cultural difference in the US they would be viewed as maybe a serious dating relationship no guarantee it was headed to anything permanent. But in Korean culture it may be obvious that there relationship was permanent. I liked that Kang-soo and his mom seemed to be on better terms but that he had not completely forgiven her. So there were some really small points that could have been clarified but there were very minor detractors.

PRETTY GOOD + Charming scene-stealer
lyntonadam1 December 2020
I discovered this 2017 K-Drama by accident & am glad I did. A key factor was seeing Chae Soo Bin in the credits, & this was the show she did before the wonderful "I'm Not A Robot". The story here centres on the world of scooter riders in Seoul & the meals they deliver. Specifically, a small restaurant where the main rider is ( unusually ) a female called Dan Ah ( CSB ). She's a tough, cynical young woman who is diligently focussed on saving money & emigrating away from Korea ( or "Hell Joseon" as she calls it ). Into her life comes innocent/idealistic new delivery recruit Kang Soo ( Go Kyung Pyo in his first lead series role ). Also important is rich playboy Jin Kyu ( Kim Seon Ho ) & black-sheep rich girl Ji Yoon ( Go Won Hee ) rounding out the main group. And eager to destroy the small eateries in the area is an evil corporate competitor. So it isn't very hard to guess the basic outcomes, be they personal or business, yet the script is well-written ( apart from an annoying little lapse regarding the apocalyptic final ep & a villain without much personality ) and is pleasingly thoughtful most of the time. The ending is a major beneficiary of this approach & all four relationships in the series are also handled well. Of course, a K-Drama requires tragedy/tears & we get them, plus there's an undercurrent of pessimism which definitely recalls the tone of "Parasite". But don't worry, there's plentiful humour too & even a few bits of Japanese-style cuteness. A large cast are typically accomplished & the leads have good chemistry. I do want to single out Go Won Hee, though, for special praise : she steals most scenes she's in & is a fun, engaging presence throughout ( a scene where she challenges Dan Ah to a fight is especially memorable ). As to the title, I would've preferred "We Deliver !". Or an apparent alternative is "Best Deliveryman". You decide.

Way Too Much Abuse
solomon112111 April 2022
I've watched Korean dramas for about 8 years, so I'm used to watching Koreans hit each other. Parents hit kids, siblings hit siblings, friends beat friends and lovers hit lovers. But this series takes abuse to a new level, trying to normalize it like it's funny. It is not. It must be a huge societal problem in South Korea because you see it in almost every program. In this one, it's the women who are violent, abusive and selfish. It ruined what was otherwise an entertaining series. I got tired of watching the female lead kick and beat everyone, and act unbearably cruel for no reason whatsoever. It's time to stop watching Korean dramas. I don't want to support the violence and excessive materialism anymore.

Tried to like but Pyo is terrible
jtrank-7521425 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I started to watch and liked it but then the main guy is so bothersome. They make him the hero convicting and doing everything he can to arrest someone that actually didn't cause the accident. It was he himself that told his friend to go. His hair is annoying, his acting terrible. The supporting actor is the one everyone is cheering for instead of the main guy. That tells you a lot. The show takes a weird turn from delivery man to business owner. Makes no sense. Its like I'm watching a completely different movie after just a few episodes.

Stupid
bparker-8570327 November 2020
I guess America is to blame for making so many movies that show females physically besting males that now Korea has decided to follow this Stupid unrealistic, misguided, trend. What? Women can't use intelligence, cunning, sex appeal, to compete with men, they have to use their tiny bodies to beat-up men twice their size? The girl in this series sometimes beats-up 2 or 3 men at a time. One problem with this unreal version of female empowerment is that many women become convinced that they can actually, physically overpower men and then many of those women end up in emergency rooms after finding out the hard way that - No, that's just tv, it's not the real world. Shows like this are an insult to the intelligence of men and women.

Warning: Spoilers
I dropped this drama in mid because of romantic parts. Main couples story is not so exciting. I wished her to be with second lead. First male lead is so boring to watch. He has not acted well. Sun wo have played her part well she is entertaining to watch. I liked the back drop but I wished main couples story should have been more captivating.
