Meat Loaf classic as video is a tribute parody of "Phantom of Opera" and "Beauty and the Beast"!

Remember being in the 10th grade and at high school dances and on the radio Meat Loaf's hit "I'd Do Anything for Love(But I Won't Do That) would always be playing. And it's clear that this was one of the now late legends greatest hits! The words and beat and the way the song moves is touching and it feels sentimental as love is the only thing that matters! The 1993 music video is vintage set like an old classic horror film as you can see the parody and tribute to "Phantom of the Opera" and "Beauty and the Beast". The makeup work of Meat's face is a mix between a Phantom and Beast, and the video is filled with some drama and suspense as Loaf escapes into the castle from the chasing police as he's seen as a monster because of his different look! Only inside his holy beauty awaits as that's the ticket for both to escape and live life as love is everlasting! Overall classic hit song with a classic well done memorable video that goes along with it.

Warning: Spoilers
"Meat Loaf: I'd Do Anything for Love - But I Won't Do That" is a really long title, but it tells you already accurately what to expect here. You read the name of the singer and also of the song that you are about to see the music video for. And at almost eight minutes it is a very long music video. It was released back in 1993, so it has its 25th anniversary this year and it is probably the defining song and music video for recording artist Meat Loaf, who is 70 now, and I can definitely see why. This was really spectacular and is clearly inspired to some extent by the very successful (then) recent Beauty and the Beast and maybe also by Edward Scissorhands from earlier even. But what is even better than the pretty stunning visual side is the music. No surprise this has over 40 million klicks on Youtube. Oh well, that's not that much anymore by today's standards is it? What can I say. It is that good, a song that will stay in your head for quite a while after listening to it. Some people may say it is a bit over-dramatic and over the top and I can see where they are coming from as this one clearly walks the edge. But I think it's not crossing it. Then again I also like Meat Loaf, so I am definitely a bit biased here. It's okay if you don't like it as much as I do, but the one thing you really need to do is check this one out. I think it is pretty amazing and wonderful and one of the very best from 1993, a strong year for short films if you wanna call it that. The female singer at the end is also as good as the female protagonist in this story-based music video is beautiful. A well-rounded effort here and I am surprised to see Michael Bay direct here. Still in his 20s at the point, it may actually be the finest directorial effort of his career. Highly recommended.

After almost three decades, it is not easy or fair to say why I was seduced by this song. For video can be the basic explanation. But the video was only the support. For imposible, in some measure, love story. Off course but this remains only the pretext. Not doubts, for gentle beauty of the song itself. For inspired make up. For cultural references, so familiar ones. And for the force of sincerity, splendid used. A great song, touching, moving, soft and precise, about difference, love, truth and freedom. And admirable work of Meat Loaf.

ground-breaking spectacular!

Meat Loaf as a vampire beast. In love with a very pretty girl who we see running through the forest. Fugitive Meat Loaf on a motorcycle being pursued by police. There's this castle...

I began collecting music videos featuring pretty girls back in the Late Eighties. Of course I had a preference for solo girls and girl groups, but I also went for the titles featuring models appearing on the screen.

Cutting that long story short, let me just say that I was flabbergasted when I first saw this lavishly-filmed mini- masterpiece. I wasn't used to music videos that were mini-movies. I couldn't believe my eyes that something that good appeared on the scene in my field.

This one set a whole new standard.

I have for years searched to find this on DVD. I have stood in a supermarket with baited breath, "ah, Bat Out Of Hell - now for the acid test - read the track list on the back cover." Then, Aw damn, all hopes shattered, it's everything but the one track I am looking for. Dejected as I put it back on the shelf. I'd have paid ten times the already high price. I still would. More than ever.

Years later on the Internet* I found a Meat Loaf compilation that looked so promising, the title was included, but I couldn't be sure if it was the original video. Only way to know for sure was to order it. But no, turned out it was a concert performance. Curses, back to the drawing board.

*yeah, I downloaded it. But a download doesn't have shop quality. And the downloaded sound of this particular title comes out kinda scrawny and doesn't do the song justice. Back in my VHS days, I had it loud and proud with the motorcycle sound raw and Mr. Meat Loaf belting it out.

Why is this jewel so exclusive? Extensive searches on the Internet failed to find me The Real Thing. I hope I made a mistake, but suspect NOT.

I want the original music video. I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR it, BUT I WON'T give up.

Please, if there is anybody out there who can help, please get this message through to the rights-holders. Please.
