  • A boy and a girl kiss in the car. The girl puts her hand along the boy's leg as they make out. He then stops her before anything further happens.
  • An implied joke in regards to going to "the lake".
  • Sex is discussed various times in the movie during the boy's time at conversion therapy. Solitary sexual humiliation of a male student by a male staff member.
  • A girl mentions that she "let another girl kiss her vagina & put her fingers inside of her", in which she "did the same".
  • A scene in the boys dorm room where a guy staying over initiates intimacy. The boy explicitly says "stop", rejecting his advances and he proceeds. No male nudity shown. This sexual harassment can be distressing.

Violence & Gore

  • A transgressive teenage boy is beaten with a Bible while students watch.

  • Four uses of "fuck," two to three uses of "bullshit."

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This movie is intense and extremely emotional. The scenes that take place at the camp are hard to watch. The fact that a father rejects his son because of his sexuality is what makes the story so depressing.
  • Scene of sexual violence which can be very distressing and a possible trigger for some viewers

Sex & Nudity

  • A teenage boy is violently raped from behind by another teenage boy. He begs his attacker to stop but covers his mouth to prevent his screams. The scene, while intense, only lasts for about a minute.
  • Talk of a boy raping another boy at his church. Nothing graphic, but briefly mentioned.
  • There is quite a distressing scene involving a sexual assault.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One scene in which Victor (Joel Edgerton) is seen smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A boy is raped by a friend. The scene runs for a few minutes and can be intense.
  • A teenage boy who attended the conversion therapy is reported to have committed suicide right after Jared left therapy. The day prior this child had endured being humiliated and also the physical abuse of being beaten with a Bible.
