So far (as of the first episode) this show is drama free. Everything is geared toward a cooperative atmosphere instead of competitive, and the focus is on the contestants singing and dancing on stage, alone, in pairs, and in groups
Some background info is given about each guy, and the producers, judges, and hostess don't really try to hide the attempt to pigeonhole contestants - e.g. "the mama's boy". Though the judges' mild attempt to paint one as "the bad boy" simply due to having tattoos on his arm fell rather flat - maybe they didn't see his intro that was shown to viewers before his performance.
For a competitive/reality show, it's pretty good. My biggest complaint would be that the judges are excessively positive when reviewing the poor performers, to let them down easy. They're teens in the performance industry, and they need honest feedback if they're going to improve. They can handle it! And hopefully they'll be more consistent in moving away from the out-dated and overly simplistic stereotypes of boy band members.
