It really sux when you spend a ton of money making the cover look so attractive and you don't spend as much on the movie itself. ((Facepalm)). Suggestion: In the future, just make a b&w cover that says (Movie). That would suffice in this case for sure. 🤢. Or maybe just don't make the movie and fake people I to believing that it might be good when it's absolutely not. Sorry to be so harsh, but I didn't not understand how everything passes as a movie these days. It used to be that it was a coveted thing to be called a movie. Now it's whatever you can record on your phone and mass distribution with a fancy cover gets by? Gah!

Two stars for the family connection, two for the movie itself.
DebraIonaVogel27 September 2023
This movie is about a group of "hexed" skydivers experiencing paranormal events.

The best part if this movie is that this is the exact place my son sky dived for the first, and only, time to celebrate turning 21.

It was awesome to see the place we hung out at all day while waiting for his turn. Plus, we've lived in Orange County all of our lives and are intimately acquainted with the roads and topography of the area; Lake Also more, CA.

The movie is, ummm, adequate if you're bored and can't find anything else. Fairly tropical cookie cutter characters. Exactly what was bringing on the spooky suff had us guessing.

A bit spurious
mbprocter2 November 2022
I kind of enjoyed this as the story developed properly in the last half hour, but it seemed to be based, from the beginning, on a rather spurious urban legend which I'd never heard of and suspect doesn't exist or is highly unlikely.

I think the film could have been done better using the last half hour but with a better earlier story. Skydiving? Not so much!

Some lovely aerial shots and the acting was quite good. They were really let down by the plot which is very slow moving. Suspend disbelief? You may be a bit stretched on this one.

Overall I give it a 4. Could have been a decent film with a better storyline.

A cursed sky dive? Seriously?...
paul_haakonsen10 November 2022
I stumbled upon the 2022 horror movie "Hex" by random chance. I must admit that I liked the movie's cover/poster, as it looked interesting. But I had never heard about "Hex" prior to watching it, so I didn't know what I was in for, aside from the short synopsis given.

But as it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch directors Chris Johnston and Andy Malchiodi's movie "Hex".

And seriously, what were the film makers thinking here? Has the creative Hollywood spring run so dry that we are now at a point where a sky dive can be cursed and serve as a focal point for a horror movie? It would turn out so. And writer Hans Rodionoff delivered one of the most laughably bad and downright ridiculous plots for a script that I have ever stumbled upon. I mean, a cursed sky dive move? Seriously? It was ludicrous, and not even bad in a way where it becomes funny and cheesy to watch. No, this was just depressingly sad and ridiculous.

I wasn't familiar with the cast in "Hex", and I am sure that there were some fair enough talents among the actors and actresses that starred in this movie, but they virtually had nothing to work with from writer Hans Rodionoff.

Visually then I am sure that there are some audience members that will get a kick out of this movie, as there is an extensive amount of sky diving footage. Personally, I don't find any fascination about sky diving, as I think it is just stupid to get up in an airplane, strap on a parachute and jump out of the airplane. But hey, all a matter of taste and preference. So yeah, there was little enjoyment to be had here.

"Hex" is without a doubt one of the dumbest movies I have stumbled upon. And the movie doesn't get better the longer you stick with it. So take my advice here and don't waste your time, money or effort on this dumpster fire of a movie. Some of us wasted 88 minutes of our lives on this movie so you don't have to.

The best thing about "Hex" was its cover/poster, and it is over-selling the movie by a landslide.

My rating of "Hex" lands on a one out of ten stars.

The Stupid!!!!
msvicki122427 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you want to see a movie with good skydiving go watch Drop zone with Wesley Snipes in it!!!! This movie was a total waste of my time watching this crap!!! I am angry at myself for thinking that it was going to get better thus waste my time watching this mess!!! They tried to make the ending look cool but it only looked incredibly stupid and dumb!!! How on earth did the supposedly dead guy haunt all of the friends throughout the movie plus cause their deaths but he was alive in the end and was also working with the old guy??? Then the whole story about the hex didn't make sense either!!! The writers should have thought carefully before making this crap a movie because there were soooooo many plot holes!!! Why was Sarah the last to die??? Why did all the other friends have to die or why did anyone have to die in the first place??? What was the purpose of the deaths??? I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone even if there wasn't anything on TV or if they were bored out of their mind!!!!

What happened?
windsorenquirer5 November 2022
Skydiving was very cool but the rest of the movie not so much.

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention (some parts of the movie were quite boring) since the movie ended and I had no idea what happened and most important.. why. What were all those "flashbacks" all about and again... where they were coming from. And WHY?

Very disappointed since it started quite well.

At least 600 characters needed (WHY???!!!) so there it is again..

Got progressively worse
BananaHeads6 November 2022
It started out pretty good. Cool jump scenes, an ok story. And then maybe 40 minutes into it. The entire narrative shifted from extreme athlete type movie to a nonsensical horror movie with bad makeup and a ridiculous plot. Even the acting got worse, or at least it seemed to.

It's gotten so bad that I'm writing this review with 28 minutes left in the movie playing in the background. 3 stars for scenery and jumps.

In keeping with the 600 character limit:

Surprisingly fun!
hotsharptoxic5 November 2022
I had an unexpectedly great time with this. The skydiving scenes are GORGEOUS and REAL. I'll take actual stunts over CG dolls anytime. The 'horror' is kind of more devilish Twilight Zone instead of the random violence we see in lots of small-production scary movies.

Opening scene is an excellent girl-power moment in the air, with Kayla Adams' character (stunt double definitely) sky-stunt-dancing solo to Katrina Stone's "One of the Boys". That pairing hooked me in.

On a 'supernatural horror' kick, the story (especially the end) felt a bit like "The Skeleton Key" from 2005.

Might not be your thing if you need big-studio productions, but clearly everyone involved took care of this one and had fun making it. Is it cheesy? Oh heck yes and that's part of the fun. Has the vibe of a 'scary ski-town movie', but with skydivers and BASE jumpers.

Enjoyed how all of the random odd things tie together at the end. Will be fun to re-watch for the little things, knowing that. Also who puts ducks in the credits?

Mediocre Supernatural horror skydiving movie
Armin_Nikkhah_Shirazi4 January 2023
HEX tells the story of a group of six skydivers who perform the eponymous jump maneuver, a formation which turns out to be cursed, and then they are picked off one by one through mysterious circumstances.

The movie blends two genres which to my knowledge had not been combined together before, and for that innovation alone, it deserves to be applauded. Alas, the two aspects do not integrate well for most of the movie, and the skydiving scenes are vastly superior to the horror scenes. This is not only a pity but also a bit mystifying because the prologue, which runs for the first 2.5 minutes, actually does a really good job in both those regards, and strongly suggests that the film-makers could have done better.

I think the problem is partly a lack of budget and partly a lack of commitment.

On the budget side, while the skydiving scenes are very good, the CGI special effects and make-up look cheap enough that they hurt the movie's credibility. Perhaps there was also not enough money to employ cinematic techniques which could have both heightened the atmosphere (pardon the pun!) and provided additional visual clues for a plot that can easily get confusing.

The reveal or plot twist here is faintly reminiscent of that in DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (1997), and part of what made it so delicious there was the visual spectacle that accompanied it. The HEX movie poster itself suggests the kind of visuals that could have made for a memorable climax following the reveal. Unfortunately, the promise of atmospheric horror of the first 2.5 minutes of this movie never materializes.

On the commitment side, it seems that the film-makers were hesitant to go "full in" on the horror aspects of the movie as they did with the skydiving portions. For example, some but not all of the unfortunate victims go FINAL DESTINATION (2000) style, but the deaths are neither as creative nor do some of them really make sense. If this plot device is going to be used, why not make the most out of it? Or that some scenes are not "real" could have been hinted at with different color tones, character idiosyncrasies, or strange background phenomena etc. So that it all comes together when the explanation is revealed. These were missed opportunities.

Finally, I believe if a movie is going to have a downer ending it has to make sense, otherwise it seems gratuitous. The final mocking remark of the demon could be easily interpreted as a veiled insult to the audience, and I suspect that this has something to do with this movie being panned more than it deserves.

What the Hex?
drjessicahoxie5 November 2022
Whoa. This was crazy. Lots of action and plot twists. I've never been skydiving but this film makes it look easy, fun and scary at the same time. It was very cool to see the skydivers formations. I'm not sure if I can put it into words but you are definitely going on a ride with this flick. The acting was good, especially the lead female. I wanted to see more of her life when she was younger. As the movie progressed I was at the edge of my seat more than once and I love a movie that keeps me guessing. Great soundtrack and music in final scene.

I need to watch AGAIN so I can figure out the ending!

It gets there...eventually
continuumx16 February 2023
While watching the first part, I was all set to give it a 2/10 or 3/10 rating. The skydiving scenes look good but there's not a whole lot else going on here. The premise of an evil skydiving formation is a bit iffy to begin with and they don't sell the menace of it very well. It just comes across as kind of silly. There is a lot of stuff that seems nonsensical and disjointed as it is happening. A lot of this makes sense in retrospect once you get to the end of the movie and the reveal. You have to sit through a lot of talky scenes and out of nowhere stuff to get there though. The eventual revelation does a pretty good job of tying it all together though and raised my score for this movie considerably. You have to watch to the very end to get that payoff though.

Fun to watch!
katieo-3939511 November 2022
The skydiving scenes were amazing! I was so impressed with the tricks they were doing. I have no idea still how they do the "hex". It really made me want to go skydiving again. But as the movie went on it got too scary and now, maybe not so much. The scene with her parachute malfunction is gripping and terrifying. The story is original, I'd never heard of a horror movie/skydiving crossover. The plot is fun to follow, campy but fun. The acting was very well done overall, especially the lead actress and actor. The soundtrack was really great too. It is definitely a movie that I will watch again.

Good skydiving, somewhat confusing horror plot
bill-171611 November 2022
This movie seemed to capture the essence of dropzone life quite well.

The sound of the aircraft engines in partcular had me wishing I hadn't got old and hung up my jumpsuit.

I guess whuffos won't understand you can't communicate in freefall - it's a noisy old sport. But it doesn't detract from the movie, and helps keep the flow of the story going.

As for the "evil" characters, "why" is the best I can say. What is their motivation, what's going on there? No matter, just go with it.

The horror elements I found a bit confusing but the ending really was nasty. Confusing, but nasty.

I enjoyed it.

Not Bad
lucy-9635315 February 2023
The skydiving scenes were better than I expected, and the story was very simple. I don't like a complicated plot, so it was okay.

People who love watching horror films will underestimate this one, but I'm not a horror film lover, so it was fine. I could watch whole scenes without closing my eyes, but, the ending was creepy.

I think it's hard to be released in theaters, but comparing with other low-budget ott films like Netflix, Hulu, it's not so bad.

The pros of this film was obviously the skydiving scenes I mentioned above. Those were very realistic, and I felt like I'm doing skydiving. It was so cool! If you have an enough time, I recommend to watch it.

Strong, classic style horror flick with modern twists!
lisajbpeterson3 November 2022
My family and I just finished watching this movie, and we enjoyed it so much! We were on the edge of our seats throughout it. It had all the elements of a classic horror movie, and such excellent suspense. I won't spoil anything, but I will just say - we were not expecting the ending!

This will be a hit with anyone who loves scary movies, and will be extra appreciated by anyone who has been skydiving or who has ever wanted to go.

The skydiving sequences were very well done. This is the perfect movie to watch together with your friends or family, especially when you are in the mood for some great old-school style horror!

Damn fine job with likely low budget
swingsurf4 November 2022
I really liked it! I thought it was original, interesting and thought provoking. The dialog was fun and the story very creative. Any kind of creativity is to be highly appreciated nowadays when most movies just reproduce more of the same canon. Yes, the actors are low budget and not famous, but they did their jobs well to convey the story, which is a compliment to the director. The video and sound editing is fantastic, which gives the feeling of a multimillion dollar production. My thought is that the producers accomplished a lot without a huge budget, which is impressive. Fun movie and I recommend!

FINALLY! Been waiting for a good skydiving moive!
davidweb-428584 November 2022
The intro had some incredible skydiving visuals. Great dynamics between the group of skydivers. The movie hit all the right notes for a great horror mystery thriller. I think I jumped out of my seat a couple times.

I was impressed with the skydiving and base jumping sequences. Especially the parachute malfunction getting all tangled up. Usually I take a break or two during a movie but this one I sat all the way through and didn't even realize the time has gone by.

The movie sucked me into the story line and there is a fantastic twist at the end. I would give it a 10/10 and recommend this one!

One of a Kind=)
Coke-4887317 February 2023
I really like to watch horror movies and this film is one of a kind!

I think HEX is new horror genre film because it comes with sports of skydiving. It is really new and different challenge, experience among horror movie. It also includes classic style of horrible movies.

The sequences of skydiving were also excellent! It felt like so real that makes me dizzying and thrilling as if I am in sky.

One of the strengths of "HEX" is the way it builds up the tension and horror fast, introducing new elements of the supernatural as the story progresses.

Performance of actor and actress was also great and worth to watch.

I strongly recommend this movie for somebody who likes horror and B-movies!

Quite good with a small budget
graytive20 February 2023
I know people would expect more. Now days, people become very smart, so makers should be smarter. But sadly, especially for independent makers, it's very difficult. Even if they have very great ideas, it's industry. They need money. But if they even don't have ideas? It's nothing. So ideas are the start. With that opinion? I think it has a quite good idea. That's why I want to give it a high score. Courage is what they need. Not the sort of cruel a few stars. People are smart. But I think they don't think when they throw just a few stars. I really do hope people get more kind. All we need is Love, friends.
