The bottom of the barrel for this terrible reboot
ramoncarrasquel9 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I hate the Powerpuff Girls 2016 with a passion, there isn't a single piece of media that I hate more than this show, is an insult not only to the original show and to the viewer's intelligence, and this episode is a great example of everything that is wrong with this show

The episode is that Blossom has always had the lead role in every school play alongside her crush Jared Shapiro, but in a new school play, Bubbles has been given the lead role alongside Jared and Blossom gets jealous, the plot is painfully cliché and unoriginal, this is the kind of trash you would see in teen dramas or school romances, not from an action cartoon like PPG, you could tell everything that is going to happen from start to finish, and it's not like this episode does anything new with this premise. One of my first criticism is that is episode is boring, nothing really interesting happens throughout the entire runtime, and then again, this is suppose to be a reboot to one of the most fun and extreme cartoons of the 90's, but instead focuses on more stupid and irrelevant stuff that no one cares

Second, the humor is terrible, all of the jokes were unfunny or didn't make sense, not to mention that some other jokes were taken out of other shows

Third, and the biggest problem with this episode, Blossom herself, she acts way too out of character, even by the reboot standards, she was always a smart leader, who cares too much about her sisters and to always make the right things, but in this episode, she even goes as far as to lock her sisters so that she can be with her bland love interest, what has this reboot done to this character?

Forth, the animation, good god, the animation in this show is awful, I know it is going to a even simpler style, but everything is so sloppy, especially in the final fight, where the movements are so slow that makes the fight scene so boring

And the final nail in the coffin, and the reason I wanted to review this episode in particular, is that involves a controversy with one of the show writers, Jake Goldman, who self-inserted himself as the character of Jared Shapiro, who at the same time wrote and voice, and he is the main love interest of Blossom, this is creepy, disgusting and unprofessional, I know that is suppose to be a in- joke, but it is done wrong, He didn't create PPG, so he has no rights to do such thing, let alone be a part of the main cast, I don't know what's worse, the fact that this reboot lets the writers make their creepy fanfics official, or the fact that Cartoon Netowrk approved this and pays them

Overall, a terrible episode, probably even the worst episode of the goddamn cartoon, and that is saying a lot, I just wish that this show was cancelled, but sadly that will never happen

A huge derailment for Blossom
lorandgyorgy-966718 May 2020
Bubbles gets Blossom's love interest as her understudy in a play, which makes her so mad she locks Bubbles and Buttercup in the closet. That's derailing her character. The rest is boring and there's not much else to say here.

The Reason Why I Hate Jared Shapiro
jeremycrimsonfox12 June 2019
This is one of my least favorite episodes of the Powerpuff Girls reboot. Blossom is at her absolute worst here than in A Very Special Blossom, as she gets jealous of Bubbles taking the lead female role in the school play where the main role is Jared Shapiro, a character introduced in a past episode as Blossom's love interest and is a self-insert for writer Jeff Goldman (which sparked a controversy). So what does she do? When she hears she's Bubbles' understudy, she locks her sister in the boiler room and even throws Buttercup in when she catches her in the act. Which is disgusting, as the real Blossom would never do that to her sisters (sure, the original Blossom does get into arguments with Buttercup, especially with the episode Octi Evil of original series, but she would never do anything bad to Bubbles). This episode is basically another example of how Cartoon Network has changed the personalities of the characters for the worst, with Blossom going from serious leader to rotten brat who wants to be in the spotlight.

Should I say a star is forgotten

Oh my god I hate Jared Shapiro so much because she has a crush on Blossom when in reality she is between the age of 5 and 6 no offense but their relationship is weird, unsettling, bland, forced and dull and there was even a new villain named Erica The Red she looks like a stereotypical viking from Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon but hey the only funny part about Jared Shapiro is when he said that apologizing is an even bigger act of war! Seriously that was a bit hilarious ha ha, i've seen cartoon characters from the loathsome characters Wikipedia and they had some funny stuff in their redeeming qualities but as for Jared Shapiro i think Blossom must break up with him.
