Was WWE Money in the Bank 2017, a good show? Don't bank on it! It was awful!

Warning: Spoilers
Before this, I would had call, "Money in the Bank", the fifth candidate to add to the so-called "big four" WWE pay-per-views. Well, not anymore. The reason, why, is because the show was so badly butcher, after the brand split in 2016, becoming, just another Smackdown only event. Its sucks, because, "Money in the Bank" was once a great interpromotional show, with two world heavyweight championship briefcase ladder matches that would affect the outcomes, of the rest of the year. Now, it's just one. Don't get me wrong, yes, I know, that this year's PPV is the first time ever, for a female version of the briefcase ladder match. However, it was so badly delivered. I wouldn't call it, a highlight. It had potential for being a great match, but it turn out, to be really, really unwatchable. It made the preshow match between 'the Hype Bros' (Mojo Rawley & the returning, Zack Ryder) versus 'the Colons' (Primo & Epico) look like a wrestling masterpiece. Not only, was the opening match, between, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Tamina, and Carmella was a bit sloppy, but it look like the women weren't really given, any greenlight to take, huge risky aerial moves, off the ladder or really hard impact bumps. Instead, WWE relies so much, on safe ramming of the ladder to the stomach, or comedy spots to go around it, like Becky Lynch and Natalya argued over who could use a ladder for a good few minutes. I know, WWE doesn't want to see, any of the ladies get seriously hurt, or spill blood, but just think, how much, cooler, would it, had been, if Charlotte was given the right to do, a backward moon-sault from the ladder, instead of the ring post. Yes, it would be risky, but it would make the match, a little more memorable. If WWE wants to promote the woman roster to a more equal playing field to the men; then they should allow them to go, at each other, with no limits. Anyways, that brings us to the climax of the match, which was a mixed bag for me. Without spoiling it, I really don't get, WWE logic, when it comes to man versus female violence in a PG level. I don't get, why it's OK for men to push women, off ladders, but hitting them is a no-no. How does that, make sense!? I would rather see them, somewhat battle. Look, I'm not saying, they should go, back to the attitude era, where hitting defenseless women is alright, but I do like to see battle of the sexes matches, with women who can defense themselves. I want inter-gender competitor conflicts, like they had in 'Lucha Underground' promotion. Honestly, all the controversial, could had been somewhat, avoid, if the writers allow, the villainous to retrieved her briefcase, rather than the man, climbing up the ladder, and giving it, to her. Look, WWE, you can still, have the male manager push the female hero, off the ladder. Just make sure, he gets his comeuppance, by the hero, by the end of the match, while the villainous, get away with her crime. You can still have the heat, but at least, it's not bad press backlash, where everybody hate the outcome & you're abrupt forced to change future story lines, by redoing the match on Free TV, and writing yourself apology letter, for doing the PR stunt, in the first place. Anyways, that brings us to the next match on the card, which unresolved outcome, also disappointed and kill the live crowd, with 'the New Day' (Xavier Woods, Big E & Kofi Kingston) facing 'the Usos' (Jey & Jimmy) for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Great match, lousy ending. Surprisingly, the next match, WWE Smackdown Women's Championship, between champion, Naomi and challenger, Lana, was alright, even if the feud was create during the last minute. Lana indeed show, that, she can hold her own, against a season champion. Still, her wrestling outfit was a bit, too revealing. It was very distracting. Anyways, that brings us to another, horrible championship match, between WWE champ Jinder Mahal versus challenger, Randy Orton. Since WWE love to book, the hometown hero to lose in recent years. This match was very predictable, and somewhat boring. I like Mahal as champion, but they could spice, this feud, a little bit, better. It's odd that WWE would follow this match, with the return and debut of Mike (Bennett) & Maria Kanellis. I love their gimmick, and theme song, but I don't know, where they will put them. The roster for Smackdown is already full to the brim. I'm deeply surprised, that they didn't put them in NXT. Anyways, that's brings us to a match that wasn't announced, between Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze) & The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor). It was a pointless filler that nobody was really, looking forward to, or invested. As a comedy act, this PPV match for the Breezango was downgrade, compare to their surprising entertaining match at 'Backlash 2017' against the Usos. At least, the main event with Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens was good. This Money in the Bank ladder match for a WWE Championship match contract, was the only great match in the PPV, in what can be, call a total failure. Lots of high shots, lots of close calls, and plenty of action. Even, the climax wasn't that, bad. A heel still won, but at least, that win didn't anger, everybody in the world and cause people to try to boycott the WWE. Overall: WWE Money in the Bank 2017 was a show, not worth investing time to watch. It was a show that had potential, but suck the life out of me, while watching it. It's by far, one of the worst WWE PPVs of 2017, along with 'WWE Fastlane 2017", 'WWE Payback 2017' & 'WWE Backlash 2017'. Not worth seeing. Highly can't recommended.

Money In The Bank Was OK. Just OK
jljwrestling18 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Money In The Bank 2017 was a show that was just OK. I had little to no expectations going into this match other than the two Money In The Bank matches.

The women's MITB was overall quite good and the ending was actually quite good, I knew somehow James Ellsworth was going to get involved in the match at some point but I didn't think for a second that he would actually grab the briefcase therefore making Carmella the winner. Ellsworth grabbing the case is what makes the match a bit ruined for me.

The Tag Team Championship match was OK the finish was great, The Usos lost but at least they lost by countout. I believe they should keep the belts until Summerslam for someone like Breezango to win it but it's probably going to end up being The New Day again.

Naomi and Lana put on an average match I was impressed by Lana in her debut match but Naomi won and that just seems right.

Jinder Mahal won against Randy Orton for the second time but I feel like he shouldn't have won by pinfall. Randy Orton beat up the Singh brothers after they assaulted Randy Orton's father at ringside, even though they were technically ejected from ringside I feel like the amount of time Orton was out there for he should have been counted out as Jinder was still in the ring, it would have showed that Randy needed to control his anger and that would build up another match at Summerslam. Jinder is actually quite a good wrestler, I was impressed by him.

Breezango faced The Ascension in a forgettable tag match that lasted nearly four minutes. This match was just boring not for the fault of the workers themselves just the way they built it up with The Ascension having their voices disguised and thinking maybe someone got called up or a it's a returning tag team, but no it's The Ascension. It would be great if they won and maybe started to become as dominate as they were in NXT but alas not so much.

Finally the men's MITB. I really liked this match. It started with everyone coming out as usual until Nakamura's entrance happened and Baron Corbin bet up Shinsuke Nakamura and had to be carried out to backstage. It was also full of moments that you thought someone was going to win but then another person came in, it was never ending in a good way. The spot where Sami Zayn put Kevin Owens through a ladder and it twisted was unique and memorable, it was mostly like that throughout the match, at one point Nakamura came back out and just started beating everyone up until he got to A.J Styles, these two have a lot of history together and as soon as they both met in that ring fans started cheering and when they finally threw fists the place went crazy. However the fan favourite to win Baron Corbin won and became the new Mr. Money In The Bank.

Also I can't remember what part of the show it was on so I'm just going to put it here. Maria Kanellis and Mike Bennett (Now Mike Kanellis) debuted together in the WWE. Maria having previously worked for WWE before leaving the company in 2010 made a name for herself in TNA and NJPW along with her husband Mike Bennett. This is Mike Bennett's first time working with the WWE and I hope maybe they'll get at least one title run out of both of them.

Overall this show wasn't too bad but it could have been a whole lot better
