A castle guard compares the Skeksis' actions to those of the "vicious Makraks." The Makraks were a race of mining creatures who had inadvertently destroyed several Podling homes in an attempt to find shelter after their caverns collapsed. The Gelfling feared they would be next, so allied with the Skeksis, who nearly wiped out the Makraks. The Makraks were one of two races based on the Miners that were scrapped from "The Dark Crystal"; the other is the Gruenak race.
