It's Decent ( Expect an indie Film)
JonnyEB19 March 2021
It's Decent But ( Expect an lower budget indie Film) The Movie is about a few different things a young man that wants to be professional poker player , a group of friends that rob card games, a son trying to look after his sick father

I think it's well put together and very watchable, pretty well shot ,interesting characters and storylines

I feel like it could have been made shorter by 20 mins at least and some of the dialogue was a bit on the nose but maybe that's just my short attention span

overall a decent movie ( better than many hollywood movies I've seen in terms of story) but don't go into it expecting a big budget production it's a small little indie and I think it does what it needs to do well. Wish the filmmakers all the best with the next one

Hard slog
Radiski6 July 2020
Very little action in terms of poker or robberies. Just droll dialogue and plot about a loser and his loser dad being angsty. When they finally get to the poker 2 hrs later the hand is ridiculous. 99 v AK but they both get into the pot cheap and the with 99 pushes all in after seeing AK on the flop - terrible poker move. The guy with 99 would have wanted all-in before the flop or wait to not see AK in the flop to go all in...

Who is funding crap like this

Once again a horrible film with people that don´t even seem to be real actors/actresses the way the talk and say their lines. Avoid and if you see some 10/10 reviews be sure that´s a family member or friend voting.

Production value aside...

Warning: Spoilers
So let's get this out of the way now: this movie looks like it was filmed on one of those old handheld camcorders that you popped an actual VHS tape into. But forget about that, and let's talk about where this movie falls short.

The first, and by far the biggest issue, is the main character, Allen. He is not someone the audience can really connect to, or would ever want to. He blames everyone else for his problems (btw this is a signature trait of a losing poker player), lies and makes excuses for everything (nope, this isn't how "bluffing" works - you have to be credible), and he never quite does the right thing for the right reasons.

To me, that's a problem deriving from the script; in addition to that, some of the lines and exchanges, along with some of the acting, subtract rather than add to the drama. Some exchanges don't need to be filmed; some facial expressions aren't needed to make your point. A little bit of subtlety could have gone a long way.

My last issue is with the poker - I get that some things are explained for the benefit of the audience members that are not poker savvy ("We play one and two dollar blinds," one player says. Then another chimes in with "and you're the small blind" etc.). What I can't get over are some featured plays where it is most certainly not a bad beat but just bad play that results in certain plot points (I don't want to give anything away, but poker players will know what I mean).

You won't love this movie. If you're like me, you won't even like it. I really wanted to, though. I want to see independent filmmakers and actors progress, so I really hope I see better from everyone involved. One note - if it wasn't a stunt double, Michaela Lichvanova (Jaqs) throws one hell of a punch; she should find her way into a movie about boxing.

The acting is mediocre, script is basic. Music did not match the scenes.

FLEE !! This movie is so bad I feel I'm wasting even more time on it...AHHH !!

From the off it's easy to see it's a; 'get it done cheap as chips' type film

Seriously, do not waste your time. 0.1/10 was not available.

Well done Indie film

A great first full length film from a local director. Alex Srednoselac does an excellent job of directing and editing his first full length project. You will be pleasantly surprised at how well this local NorthWest Indiana director has combined suspense with drama, topped with some humor in this gem of a movie. Well done Alex and crew!

Good film

Went and saw last night, good movie. Other than one robbery scene almost no violence and little to no profanity. Good story about people and their struggles to be successful in life
