A time to reflect and come to terms with thought, hate, views and a decision.

Warning: Spoilers
This "Room 104" episode called "Red Tent" number 10 from season one is a political themed one and it twist thru thought and discussion. It centers around two young men who are in "Room 104" and they plan on making a trip to disrupt a political convention and do a possible bombing or shooting of the presidential candidate. It' s a lot to carry out then plans are delayed and put aside when an AC repairman comes along and starts his own discussion on current events and the candidate which provokes wonder and thought, it's like coming to terms with yourself, as it's clear second thoughts are now present about going to the convention to cause problems. This episode clearly has a message that proves the mind can change and decisions can be reached thru thought and reason after hearing someone give their take(hey I wish both political sides would use this more!) Overall pretty good well done episode.

Not sure where this was going

Warning: Spoilers
Plenty of drama in this one - 2 young men determined to (apparently) bomb a optical convention. One chickens out (reconsiders) and the next has second thoughts when he learns of a youth who is going to be in attendance. However, it never answers the pertinent questions - why? what does he end up doing? I've seen enough stories that get you guess ing about the outmode, but this one never really gets you to the point where you have clear knowledge about the bombers thought process - and of course, what he eventually ends up doing

Could have been a contender

Warning: Spoilers
Room 104 is an intriguing series that could have been a contender in terms of the "twist" endings but unfortunately it comes across as a motel version of Tales from the Darkside where the premises is exciting but the pay-off is limp. Here this episode could have been something, dwelling on political and intolerance themes and references to Don't-Mention-The-War and the like. Anyway, the ending was somewhat lacking and I wonder what the scriptwriters and showrunner was thinking, like with mumblecore and all. But anyway, Red Tent could have been a contender but sadly the ending was rather void and all.

Relevent for Our Time

Warning: Spoilers
This is an episode that explores a political issue in a creative way. It's about two young men who are planning to set off a bomb at a political convention. Their goal is to take out a presidential candidate, whom they believe would be dangerous, should he win the election. It's cleverly written, and it poses a question which may quietly go through the minds of "decent" people. If you had the chance to take out someone like Hitler, before they could do damage and kill lots of people, would you do it?

Virtually no one wants to kill anyone, but most of us understand the desire to live in a peaceful, free society. So when someone like Trump comes along, and sows extreme division, lies and hatred throughout the country, I can't be the only one who wonders, what if he just didn't happen?

Earlier today, I watched a YouTube video about Trump supporters who terrorized a Biden campaign bus. The bus was driving through Texas, while multiple pickup trucks, complete with Trump flags waving in the back, surrounded it on the highway. The Trump supporters were yelling at the bus and driving erratically, causing a minor collision with a Biden campaign car. What's worse is that when the Biden campaigners called 911 and asked for help, the local police chose not to respond, siding with the Trump supporters, while laughing it off. This whole incident took place in October of 2020. The incident was so intimidating that the Biden campaigners chose to cancel the rest of their campaign stops for that day, due to safety concerns.

It's not hard to recognize that the writers of this episode, also recognize what's happening in the U. S. This episode aired in 2017, during the Trump administration, and the division, in this country, has only gotten worse, as vehement Trump supporters have become more physically aggressive.

Some people don't like politically charged episodes like this one. However, when it causes a person to think about the damage that's been going on, I can't help but applaud it. And that's all this episode does; it causes viewers to think.

Had this episode been geared to cater to those who support Trump, it could be problematic. After all, that demographic has shown itself to take physical, sometimes dangerous, action, when stoked by their leadership. January 6th, and the bus incident, are perfect examples of this. However, when geared to the more sensible demographic, it causes a moment of sobriety and reflection.

A person who is anti-Trump isn't likely to do anything violent. So if this episode motivates such a person to show up at the polls, and vote against such a dangerous leader, then I'm all for it.
