HIDDEN GEM---BUT HOPEFULLY NOT FOR LONG!

I saw this film at The 2017 Atlanta Film Festival and I was immediately blown away! Story is king in this masterfully crafted work. The characters are impactful and memorable. Daniel Fernández Abelló's breath-taking cinematography reminds me of Colli's work in The Good the Bad and the Ugly: full of richness and depth.

The performances are SUPERB! Salier does an excellent job in directing rich performances from his diverse cast! Clifton Collins jr. is the heavyweight (and does his usual EXCELLENT work) but Salier's lesser known supporting cast keeps up with Collins step for step! This film is a MUST SEE!

If you want to see a movie that captures the flavor and exotic perspective of Cuba, check out Cabeza Mardre. Director and writer Edouard Salier does an excellent job of encapsulating the cultural flavor of Cuba without being over bearing. The movie has a simple premise, a son goes home to visit his mother and her head is missing. Sounds gruesome but the movie is really about how in the latino culture mothers are held in high regard. Especially sons, they appreciate and value that mother's love. How the only woman that will ever truly love you is your mother. Funny and poignant, an overall beautifully made film. I saw it as part of the 2018 Atlanta Film Festival. - Dr Wilson Triviño
