The location in which the film is set really is the most haunted village in the UK, Pluckley in Kent was even added to the Guinness Book of Records for being "the most haunted village in Britain" in 1989.

The woods in which most of the film is set are actually called the Dering Woods, but they are most commonly known as The Screaming Woods across the world, due to the ghostly sounds that are said to be the screams of people who went missing in the woods and never found their way out.

Pluckley and its surroundings were the filming location for popular ITV series The Darling Buds of May in the 1990's the series starred British television icon David Jason, and a then relatively unknown Catherine Zeta Jones.

Pluckley and the Screaming Woods have been the subject for many Paranormal television shows from across the world.

Every year on Halloween there is a large Police presence and access to the village of Pluckley and The Screaming Woods is restricted due to the area being overrun by ghost hunters, paranormal investigators and drunken behaviour.
