The latest episode of Doctor Who season 12 blew fans’ minds when none other than John Barrowman showed up, returning as Captain Jack Harkness for the first time in almost a decade. The actor has been campaigning for a comeback ever since spinoff Torchwood ended in 2011, with Whovians everywhere also repeatedly demanding more from the immortal Time Agent.
Well, finally, at long last, it happened last night. But is it just a one-off appearance, or have we not seen the last of Jack this year? Radio Times put this to Barrowman during an interview with him and the actor gave us hope as he pointed to the character’s last line in the episode being a possible hint that there’s more to come from him this season.
“Without quoting a line, he says to…it’s been a while since I filmed it so forgive me for not knowing exactly...

Even leaning on the timey-wimey nature of things hasn’t been able to save the new season of Doctor Who from audience fatigue. In fact, the latest episode has opened to the show’s worst figures in 32 years.
Chris Chibnall’s tenure as executive producer of Who has had its ups and downs in the past two years, but it’s never been in such a low spot as it is now. While most of the criticism has been centered around the show’s newfound PC agenda, many fans mainly bash the new episodes for controversial decisions in the context of the narrative. Ultimately, this led to season 12’s premiere opening to some of the lowest figures in the show’s history. Yet, it didn’t stop there and the second and third episodes continued to nosedive, losing almost a million viewers.

Despite a new twist to the show’s lore that could hype longtime fans, Doctor Who viewers continue to drop with each episode of the latest season.
Jodie Whittaker’s second run as the Doctor has met critical acclaim so far by bringing back one of her oldest enemies and developing the ‘Timeless Child’ story arc, but if audience figures are any indication, Chris Chibnall’s Who is in deep trouble. Last week, we reported that season 12’s premiere episode, “Spyfall,” opened to some of the worst figures in the show’s history by roping in only 4.96 million viewers, a two million drop from the last episode, titled “Resolution.”
The nosedive didn’t stop there though and the second part of “Spyfall” managed to bring in only 4.6 million viewers, a significant 300,000 drop from the previous outing. Now, amid criticisms aimed at Chibnall’s controversial decisions to change the show’s continuity,...

Chris Chibnall’s era of Doctor Who has had its fair share of criticisms, but it would appear that the new showrunner couldn’t care less about what critics and members of the press have to say about his series.
After a lackluster season 11 that saw Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor, with criticism aimed at the politically correct attitude and weak scripts, the show returned this January with a two-parter filled with action and surprise. And though the critical consensus has been largely positive, the premiere episode marked one of the series’ worst openings in recent years. This further affirmed Chibnall’s failure to connect with Whovians and meet their expectations, not to mention upsetting many fans because of some controversial narrative decisions that go against the continuity of the show.
So, the question is: will Chibnall even attempt to cater to fan requests or consider their critiques?...

Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith was announced to be joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX back in August, to the delight of sci-fi fans everywhere. Naturally, Whovians and Star Wars nerds alike began to theorize over who the Eleventh Doctor actor could be playing in J.J. Abrams’ grand finale to the trilogy which he started in 2015.
Lucasfilm has yet to divulge any firm details, but one person over on Reddit claims to know how Smith fits into the movie. User Hankosheppard writes that he’s heard through the grapevine that Smith’s character is being given the provisional name of “Roman” during filming so as to keep his actual name a secret. The role he’ll fill, though, is General Hux’s second-in-command, meaning Smith is expected to shoot the bulk of his scenes with Domhnall Gleeson.
