We are all humans...

Laerte-se brings a fresh philosophical questioning of what we are in our gender identity and how we perceive ourselves and others in these roles of masculine and feminine. All of this in a beautiful directed documentary that shows Laerte's discovery and honest thoughts of her body. While Laerte's impressive talent as a cartoonist is perfectly explored throughout the movie.

Being human

Warning: Spoilers
Being an artist means for most, they have a lot of sellf doubt. And you get another case right here, where you have the artist saying it out loud. And while the artist is being gender deficient (that's why I keep writing the artist and not her or him), not acknowledging what people should call the artist. Apart from a lot of interview minutes we do get the comics in between the artist has drawn and other art.

It's supposed to shock at times I guess (especially when the artist is naked, breast, but also a penis (transgender as the information on imdb would tell you too). If you're easily offended you may want to stay away from it anyway. You can admire the art, the story itself is not really sufficient to fill the running time. It's a decent documentary overall I reckon, but there are far better ones out there.
