New Crew, still a fun show
fear-2285413 November 2017
The 2 guys from season 2-5 were hysterical and well trained in military tactics, weapon handling and trash talking. This season's actors/actresses don't have a clue there, but the show is still a fun action military genre. We will see how the season progresses. Hopefully the cast gets more training in weapons and tactics, and stop looking like the first time they handled a firearm was a week before production started. The dialogue needs to improve as well.

Not great
msms_20007 February 2018
I'm a big fan of strike back so after watching the previews for the new season, I was a bit underwhelmed but it's just a trailer so I checked out the first episode. Here is the bad---First as others have mentioned, there has been a drop in the production value and I'm not exactly sure why. I don't think it's just because they are not shooting in Africa any longer, but something is definitely off. Second, the story arc in the first episode was way too rushed. A lot of that could have been fleshed out in two better episodes versus one bad one. Third, the fight scenes weren't great. Again, the production value did not stand up to the past seasons. Fourth, a little bit of cheesy. When the new commander goes into the prison to meet Mac, what is he doing? Of course push ups on his prison floor. That's too cliche and 90s action movie for this type of show. Fifth, we don't need four heroes, two is perfect... enough said. Sixth, in the beginning Mac's team gets wiped out and the villain points a gun and pulls the trigger but it is out of bullets.......so he gets to live! Lol WTF, they just massacred everyone, why not tell one of the several henchman to shoot him. This was just lazy writing, they could have come up a better reason for him to survive, seriously. Finally the women hand to hand fights don't look realistic. At least the women aren't perfect 10s, which does add some realism. If one of the goals is to make a more diverse cast, why not just cast an African American man as one of the leads? Especially given that Strike Back doesn't cast big known stars, they aim more for international folks. After all, this is an international group of characters and this would be a little more palatable than having women in cock tail dress and a little aussie girl with a cool hair cut kicking ass. I will continue to watch the next few episodes and probably the whole season, just to give it a chance, but so far not so good.

Get through the first few episodes
favor-ryan19 May 2020
Obviously not seeing our original boys from section 20 definitely throughs you off quite a bit but these guys have grown on me. I remember watching the first episode of the series with Damien and thinking i don't know if I'll make it through this but my god I'm glad i stayed with it. This new group deserves that same chance.

Not the same as the Strike Back series I know
jamesmartinez-422-93463113 February 2018
The season 6 series does not live up to the Strike Back series I knew.. The script and the casting needs a lot of changes to make it credible. It's like watching a shoot-em-up game in God Mode. At most there are five of them against an army with automatic weapons. Yet the enemy all seem to not know how to shoot ir guns and they all end up unscathed.

I know I've only seen the 1st episode but
wayne-3358717 September 2018
Ep 1, season 6 Strike Back..

Casting : The British Seargent is credible - the US Wyatt is so far not so good and the Aussie girl - not good at all. The Captain well so far she is pretty but not commanding.

There is no magic yet - but hopefully it will develop!

Get a room!

What's with all the haters here?! It's not that bad. At least not much badder than the previous installments. It was definitely way better than the new Charmed or Magnum or MacGyver... It was a bit confusing of who is who, not very plausible in storytelling, had a naked man's butt, sex, tough women and a bit too cliché oneliners. Sounds normal to me. It was entertaining, so I'll stay with it. And it has the very much charismatic Warren Brown from Luther and X Company! And Daniel MacPherson actually reminds me of Sullivan Stapleton, who is very successful with his gig in Blindspot. Plus the female lead is somehow very distinctive, pretty AND tough! So, it has chicks, guns, chicks with guns, explosions, gunfire... Who needs plausibility or realism?! ;)

Not as bad as you think

After the initial shock of a completely rehauled cast subsides, the basic elements are all there. I was reluctant to finish the season, but glad I did. Stick with it and give it a chance with an open mind.

Pure Rubbish..
atlantis-254812 February 2018
I am a big fan of Strike Back when i heard it was coming back I was excited, after watching the first episode I have to say you guys who directed it wrote it or what the hell you trying to do you all just killed this show, Stonebridge and Scott made this show they have put the bar so high its hard to even duplicate it. The characters are so fake in there acting and the chick who thinks she is a captain shows her bad acting skills.. I have no words I for one will not continue watching this and if I could give zero stars you would defiantly get it..

What's with all the Sexisim?
Poppa-Bird8 November 2017
Some reviewers here seem to have short memories about the make-up of the team in previous series where women have played prominent roles. Not least in season 5 where 50% of the team were women; sound familiar to some of the complaints aimed at this series?.

Anyway, I am enjoying the reappearance of the show because it is basically a feel good action TV programme. My one complaint would be why have they got a US Black Hawk helicopter delivering the team rather than the Lynx or Bell 212 which are actually used by the British Army? Despite that, I for one will continue watching the series, it's fun.

Not that bad really
eclarkdog8 September 2019
I enjoyed the old Strike back for years, temporarily subscribing to Max to catch a season when it came. out. I saw the original series (Armitrage/Lincoln) years ago.

I believe the biggest difficulty when a series is revamped with a new cast is just simply getting used to the new faces - getting used to the new actors and their characters. You've got another Brit dude and American dude (ha..again played by an Aussie who tries a bit too hard to act American) in the leads, but it appears to me the team, including the chicks, are going to be more involved in the action. Which actually was the way the old series was evolving anyway - more team oriented rather than just the partnership.

I was very skeptical going into the first episode (I've not seen the others yet but glad to see the ratings seem to go up with each episode of the season..granted those rating it low probably did not continue anyway). However, I was surprised and entertained. It has the look and feel of the old series, including sleazy gratuitous and nonsensical sex scenes - but hey, eye candy is good, framed by a terrorist plot. The plot so far does not stand out as particular original although it does appear relevant to the time - and plot twists usually abound anyway in the show.

The cast grew on me as the episode went on and I was especially surprised by Roxanne McKee in a completely different role than I'd ever seen her in before. She may be the highlight here. The aussie actor playing the American rubs me wrong a bit so far, but honestly I recall feeling the same way about Stapleton originally. (Honestly I'd be more than fine if Strike Back did not to have to have a fake American lead..just make it all British like the very first series)

Definitely good enough episode to continue on. If you were a fan of the old series, I see no reason why you would not enjoy this as long as you open yourself up to breaking in a new cast of characters. It's still Section 20 and they are still striking back -or on their backs.

Terrible
maryjoeb19 March 2018
The new Strike Back series is terrible! The new cast does not even come close to the chemistry that Stapleton and Winchester had. Story lines were also better. What's with trying to copy another 'Damian Scott' character, doesn't work. Stopped watching. It would have been better if they brought back Stapleton and Winchester occasionally for a two hour movie.

Strike Back season 6 rubbish
jcoxliverpool7 November 2017
After looking forward to Strike Back, I was very disappointed with pathetic introduction of the characters and the story. The quality of the production was amateurish, the visual quality no where near as good as previous years. Characters forced in a poor attempt to mimic the originals. Should have been more of a flow from the last episode of season 5.

This isn't anymore Strike Back!
opinionated-alchemist8 November 2017
Let's first of all get this out of the way: I am not a sexist (as some reviewers seem to be) - neither am I somebody, who is resistant to change.

Yes - I actually enjoyed most of the cast, which was growing in several seasons. And yes - I thought also , that the story became more and more ridiculous.

One thing, which only changed to the better though in Strike Back was the action. It really seemed, that the cast and the stunt coordinator in previous Strike Back seasons were intensely instructed by real soldiers. Their gun movements (e.g. changing mags), overall the action sequences, even the trash talks seemed to bring you really in the mood to see another episode and another episode - and threw you into a dark hole, when the season was going to end.

This has changed now. We have been gifted a typical American soldier - action series. Actions, a (reasonable elite) soldier would never do... but there is a lot of man vs man drama. Please remind me, why the producer found it a good idea to call it Strike Back?

Another problems seems a bit that both protagonist seem to have familiar faces, without being known. One like a bigger and more brawny Bradley Cooper, the other like Jeremy Renner with a bit more sense for hair fashion.

No - I don't mean, that they are as bad with their weapon handling like the stars of typical 80's and 90's Hollywood productions (looking at you, Stallone and at you Schwarzenegger). But honestly, a military series have to build on military mannerisms - gun handling, talk, discipline, and the 90's are long gone.

So no -Strike Back hasn't be revived. It has been buried deep into the ground. And the new season is just a cheap interpretation of the original. Very sad.

Going down.
grahamscott-2431224 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to this and despite each season of Strike Back being slightly worse than the previous they were still rather enjoyable so I thought this would be hopefully the same, perhaps even an improvement?

First couple minutes gave promise, then they let a Syrian army guy onto their waiting chopper on the ground whilst they are securing the prisoner. Seriously? Straight away my heart sank. This is going to take an awful lot to start liking.

The two lead actors are being pushed to be just like the previous lead characters but without the chemistry or charisma and like all so many films and series today, this whole alpha female movement is ruining things. It's something I've also noticed on Netflix, everything is now powerful women with men being plebs, there's clearly an agenda going on here.

Anyway back to business, so now we are in a night club and she's in the toilet downloading/transferring data when she is interrupted by the cliche over-sized bad guy who moves so slowly that he makes a snail look like a gazelle on steroids, yet never gets shot or caught. As she is interrupted when the transfer is at 98% she decides to unplug the gizmo from the phone, stopping the transfer, and throw both the phone and gizmo into the sink and is dragged away, rather than just leave the gizmo in the phone so it can finish the transfer in her absence.

A few minutes later there's a big shoot out and both her and our lead characters are left with everyone else dead or having left. They are in despair because they have lost the intel from the phone because it didn't finish the transfer, but don't worry she managed to slip a tracking device in the phone owners pocket.

Errrrr, why don't you just go back upstairs and plug the gizmo back in the phone which are both sitting in the sink? Better yet, just grab the phone as the owner is now gone (kidnapped) and won't be needing it anymore.

I switched off at this point.

Come on, with plot holes like this in the first episode, I really can't bring myself to watch anymore.

Thank you very much for ruining a good series.

Another one gone from my watch list.
john-marchant-769-3747217 November 2017
I noticed this creeping in in Season 5 and now its even worse in Season 6.

Another show sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

Here are a few FACTS for you, most people on the front line in these sorts of things are men, very few women, certainly not in combat roles and certainly not in SF roles.

Yes there are women in combat roles and they serve with distinction but according to Strikeback, it's now 50/50 which is of course far from the truth.

I guess the producers of this show are trying to curry favour with more women and a more diverse audience. Well you have failed, my wife used to love this program, after watching Episode 1 of Season 6 she was laughing all the way through.

looks like a film made by college business school frat house bro.
arabbigwet1 March 2018
The gun fighting is alright. Strike back's fire fight was always known for the call of duty operator style. And the cheap CGI is alright

The major let down is the pacing of story telling which is a bit pushy. Dialog contain too much exposition, character development feel forced, it's like the show is trying to tell me EVERYTHING i need to know in one hour.

The experience watching season 6 can be sum up in one word ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"awkward,"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This actually reminds me of season 6 game of throne. When a RR marin epic turns into an American Class B daytime TV show.

Not good
vic-2296527 January 2018
Where is Phillip Winchester and Sullivan Stapelton, if your going to make another season why get good actors with real characters, from series 2 we followed these two guys all over the world, the stories were tight with no messing about, the action good, the use of weapons made you feel as though they were real agents of Section 20, the fight scenes were excellent.

I looked forward to this series 6, l thought they would bring back Stonebridge & Scott, but no, there are feeble actors, awful dialogue, most of them who use weapons have had little of no training in their use, l'm afraid l will not be watching again.

Big Letdown
leocool28 November 2018
Huge fan of Strike Back until now. This new group is second rate compared to Scott and Stonebridge. The two male leads are really poor substitutes. What is glaringly missing is Scott's humor. It was the perfect foil for Stonebridge's seriousness. When something went haywire, Scott would laugh unabashedly. Here the banter just falls flat because there is no humor. Then there are the women. Novin is the only one who would fit with the old crew. The captain carries her weapon awkwardly and has perfect makeup including the sultry eyes! The commander of the unit seems like she is judging an episode of Survivor. Nowhere near the presence of the previous female commanders. And the geek is just the geek. If this is the best they can do then Section Twenty needs to go back to the grave.

Wave off! Wave off! Wave OFF!!!
Rat_2717 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Strike Back used to be my favorite show, and now it has devolved into absolute crap. I wrote my full review on the series page, but I will try to review the episodes, and why I thought each one sucked more than the next.

This episode starts with an extraction team that gets ambushed. There is no viable reason that one of the show's main characters survives this. His plot armor is +10, or it is just lazy writing.

Then we see who seems to be the main bad guy, getting chastised by a woman. And that theme continues for the next 8 episodes. This show is now about the bossiest chicks on the planet. Then the two action guys meet up, and they are saved by the Tough Chick. This is another theme that continues for the next 8 episodes. In fact (spoiler alert for my review of ep08) she even asks if they are getting sick of having their asses saved by these chicks, and I emphatically yelled at my television that I was. Then the Tough Chick makes a joke that would never fly if the genders were reversed, but ... hey, equality. Finally, we are introduced to the Captain, and her intro is about how hot she is. Then she comes in, takes charge, and is showcased to be even more hot. Finally, we get introduced to another villain, who is cartoon evil. All of these character interactions were sub-par, and the buddy vibe feels very forced. This ain't Stonebridge and Scott.

I was excited at the start of the episode, but at the end I was scowling at the screen. ... I pushed on.

Could have been good, ruined by PC Propaganda
imdb-4224827 March 2018
Well made. Nice camera work. Beautiful scenery. Pretty people. It's got all the superficial aspects of a winner.

But the propaganda, lord. Strike Back's previous token women actually added to the series - sure, spec ops teams tend to be full of burly men, but in Strike Back we also have some cute girls and some banter. Now apparently, they also have to try and be men. It just doesn't work. It's such screeching propaganda the whole time. Clearly the makers of the show have a problem with the old formula of women being women, bros being bros, and manly men doing manly things in glamorous locations.

Strike Back was always juvenile male wish fulfillment (of the best sort). Cultured, enlightened hipster women weren't watching this. Now nobody else will either.
