Warning: Spoilers
In ghoulish fashion, the villain of "Web Cam Girls" kidnaps women he meets on the internet, then tortures and films them to attract other sadistic viewers. He claims that viewing these atrocities is "the most awesome reality TV show of all time."

The filmmakers' approach to this unpleasant conceit is to keep up a brisk pace as the heroines, Alexandra "Alex" Hilliers and her mother Rachel, race against the clock to find Alex's cousin Carolyn, who is being held captive and awaits execution in what the villain calls "Show Time."

Two of the girls' teachers, the film instructor Mr. Thomas and the English teacher, Mr. Darrs are the principal suspects. Alex enlists her computer geek friend Shawn Fitzgerald to help track down the perpetrator. But Shawn becomes collateral damage when he is outwitted by the villain.

The film's climax seemed abrupt when out of nowhere, some vigilantes appeared to come to the rescue in a completely remote area. More of the pathology of the villain could have been fleshed out. The person who may hold the key is his wife, who appeared to know much more than she was letting on about her deranged husband when she was confronted by Rachel Hilliers.

The best developed relationship in the film was that of Rachel and Alex. The bond of mother and daughter was deep, and Rachel made the decision that her career must take second place to the time spent with her daughter. By the end, both characters came to a new realization of what they mean to one another. Still, the film left a very unsettling feeling, and it did not reflect well on an educational system that produced weirdos like Mr. Thomas and Mr. Darrs.

Enjoyable but writing unbelievable 😬

Entertaining for a Lifetime movie. But, and it's a GIANT BUT, when the cousin puts it all together it just all goes downhill. So disappointing. It really is about time that Lifetime hire some real talent to write scripts!!! For the love!!!! Please! It's cringworthy when you watch it unfold.

Web Cam Girls
a_baron22 July 2019
This film could have been better, but by the same token it could have been a great deal worse. A high school girl decides to make some money by working as a web cam girl. Soon she is asked by a viewer to meet him in person, an offer she can only refuse, but when big bucks are deposited in her account, how can she say no? She goes to meet him, and is kidnapped.

Is this guy sick, yes, but in a purely commercial way. He holds girls prisoner then tortures and murders them, selling the resulting snuff films on the Dark Web. Snuff films began as an urban legend, then morphed into the real thing. A much milder version can be found in the happy slapping craze of recent years, but there is nothing mild about this film, which is basically a whodunnit and will the good guys get there before the damsel (and her cousin) are murdered? What do you think?

The plot was ok, the bondage great

Warning: Spoilers
Such a gullible girl also quite an idiotic police detective and dumb cousin. Also male friend who helps the girls is also asking for it.

The best parts: The ball gagging of Alex, who looks younger than 18 but what the hell and teaches DiDs how to escape even when bound with zip ties.

Suspenseful, Funny and Real
bryantstar3 January 2018
I saw "Web Cam Girls" with a group of friends when it premiered and we all really enjoyed it. I liked it a lot because it's both suspenseful and funny, in a way that reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock. What scares me the most, though, is how relevant this movie is to modern life. Do we really know what our children are doing online? Parents, you better watch your daughters! Because who knows who else is watching YOUR Web Cam Girl??

Scary but fun ride

Web Cam Girls is a terrifying, fun movie. As a parent of adolescent girls it stokes a certain paranoia regarding what children are up to online. The plot is a little predictable but director Doug Campbell delivers his trademark suspense (Death Clique). Most of the acting was great, especially the two female leads. Lorynn York as the abducted cam girl was excellent, and watching her go from cavalier cam candy to terrified captive was a fun ride. Can't wait to see her in The Boarder. Sedona Legge as her cousin was a nice surprise, and kudos to the film's makeup team for making Sedona look like such a girl next door type (instead of the stunning face of Gucci). All in all a fun, scary movie... hoping Lifetime makes more like this one!

Really great

Full of mystery and suspense and thrill. The visuals are okay just not bad but story is little off at the middle. But overall good to watch, recommended.
