Vengeance must run in the family..
tkaine321 March 2018
For someone to rate this movie a 1 is truly more vindictive than the charachters portrayed in this film. This movie had a good supporting cast of actors, written very well and witty, Videography was on par great pacing from start to finish with a plot twist.. Now albeit the twist was pretty predictable but it still played out well and you definitely didn't feel cheated or confused by the characters actions.. This movie is precise and doesn't fiddle around wasting time like so many movies these days. Complaints about this movie are baseless. Sterotypes are created for a reason, The reason being a lot of people are perceived to be a type of person whether right or wrong. I would definitely say this is a film to sit down and watch. Theres alot more you'll like than hate.

nice twist, wrong ending
SnoopyStyle8 January 2019
Elizabeth Marshall (Paige Turco) is the DA running for Governor of Pennsylvania. Lucy Pierce (Brittany Allen) claims to be her stolen baby Victoria. A DNA test confirms it. The other daughter Terri (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) is suddenly cast as the black sheep of the family with Lucy as the perfect daughter. Lucy is also good for the campaign. It becomes a story of jealousy, revenge, and political trickery.

At first, I assumed this to be another rather whatever Lifetime drama. Lucy is the good girl and Terri does crazy jealousy stuff. It ends in a murder attempt. Blah. Blah. Blah. I have to say I did not see the twist coming. It's great. They really got me. The ending's wrong and that kinda sucks. With more drama in the first half and a better darker ending, this could be a fun thriller drama. It isn't able to exceed its Lifetime DNA but the stolen baby mama gave it a good idea.

Worth a watch.

If you like Lifetime movies, you'll enjoy this one. No, it's not a '10'....but no, it's not a '1'. Anyone who says it's a '1' is lying, I assure you of that. There's nothing to get annoyed about; it's a good movie. Family drama, politics, scandal, accusations, sex, jealousy, etc....it's the type of Lifetime movie we all love. It doesn't hit the emotions enough to go above a '6' rating for me....but it had a good story with interesting twists & turns.

Didn't recognize April O'Neill. Not a fan of the ending.

Warning: Spoilers
They went overboard giving Elizabeth no emotions over her missing daughter being found. Making her so into her campaign over such a life-changing event was supposed to (I assume) make us choose Lucy over her, but it really rang false for me. I find it hard to believe that anyone would give her political advice to publicly abandon her daughter. I mean, come on, we all know politicians. Not to mention, SPOILERS HERE an opponent can find her, but the DA (Elizabeth) can't? The movie goes out of its way to make Elizabeth a certain way so that it makes Lucy's actions seem "right." If you're a person that believes two wrongs don't make a right, then you will have to suspend some disbelief.

Also imagine a politician's (a DA at that!) child talking to the police without counsel....and she's made to deal with it alone. So the politician abandons both of her daughters. It's also amusing that the opponent doesn't assume that it's a honeypot that the child of her opponent is approaching her. No background checks from either side. A dna test doesn't reveal someone's intentions. This movie asks a lot of the viewer. I know some will disagree, but I don't hate the old Hollywood rule of the villain being punished for their crimes. That rule saved a lot of movies in my opinion. The ending here is unsatisfying and a "The Bad Seed" sort of resolution was needed. Extortion and falsifying evidence are crimes, so if they were going to get Terri (other daughter) for them, how is Lucy getting away with it? Not to mention that by the end of this, Elizabeth has no reason to believe Lucy will stay away. I think this movie going with "politicians lie and are slimy" is not something any of us need to be reminded of.

The kidnapping "mother" is a hero to Lucy and we're supposed to nod our heads in agreement. But that ultimately gets Lucy abandoned by her real family...so maybe she did get the old Hollywood ending...albeit with her debt paid off through extortion. The other daughter has to go through being framed because Elizabeth let Lucy go....somehow their relationship is fine at the end. I mean, I watched it through to the end, but I doubt I need a repeat viewing.

As an aside, I wish Lifetime or whatever production company would put more thought into the titles of these films. Neither Elizabeth nor Lucy truly interact as if "separated at birth," in any emotional sense.

Average TV movie
PDeniz6 November 2018
This is a low-budget tv movie that holds on to the suspense to keep the audience focused and it is successful in that in fact. Though, the dialogues are weak and the flow could be more elaborate. I do not think it is stereotypical and rather the movie highlights that one captures the good and the evil at the same time and that time sometimes matters a lot.

Power begets ...
kosmasp2 December 2020
Something right? Or was it with great power comes ... quite a big fall? Or more risky business? Am I mixing things up here? Probably. So while I may have confused you, the movie may be able to do the same. I feared this was going to be by the numbers and that it did show me that, nope it takes different turns and twists.

It's just a shame that towards the end it has no confidence of really going another route. And instead opts with the known thriller tropes and cliches. Still it is entertaining enough and the actors really give you their (or was it your) moneys worth. Seen way worse than this, though that doesn't mean I haven't seen better. Maybe with a bit more braveness ... we'll never know

Worst movie ever
dejah_GSD12 March 2018
Another movie directed by a male with weak, stereotypical female characters that capitalize on sexist themes. The writing is horrible and the movie was a waste of time I will never get back.

Don't waste your time
skylarnicole-251315 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst movies lifetime has ever come out with. The plot was weak, its all been done before, child separated at birth goes to look for birth parents but in this case, the child found a woman who was a prominent attorney, and was running for Governor. Political movies don't need to be intertwined with a family movie, the acting job also is weak, spoiled brat decides to sabotage her sister while the prodigal daughter plots with a reporter to keep her mother from winning the election and ruined her own career and for what? A payout? Lame! Save your time, don't watch this movie. I watched this movie twice and got the same criticism. Its not even worth any amount of money, bad cast, bad acting job, bad script, bad premise. I watched it to see how lifetime would touch on the child returning and the election but they didnt handle it.

Too many twists
phd_travel15 February 2019
There are too many twists and turns for its own good. At first I was quite relieved the woman who gets back her kidnapped baby girl years later isn't getting an imposter - too many of those from Lifetime. Then there are twists galore as someone is sabotaging the girl who is a teacher. Is it the jealous sister or is it the mothers rival politician? About 2/3 through got bored. You kind of know who it is from the beginning but then they throw a couple of red herrings.

Not one of the better ones.

Excellent!
manleydreamer1 May 2018
I watch a lot of lifetime movies and this one really stood out as a winner! It almost felt like I was watching an independent film rather than a TV movie. You also have to take it with a grain of salt and think about the low budget they probably had and the fact that you can watch it for free! I watched it twice the night it premiered. Excellent movie!

Awful
svader22 September 2020
Bad to the power of 10

Dreadful acting storyline and awful characters

The daughter Lucy is as old as the mother yet she is playing a 22 year old teacher ??

Her natural mother offers to pay off her student costs yet she's in the middle of a campaign . . .

Rubbish

Vindictive, Vengeful....Fluff
OMG193949494949495 May 2019
I am not really moved by vengeful movies....Also, the hidden plot is just too elaborate. It requires too much from other people to be successful. The acting was decent. But it can't save this silly story.

Crazy
silverswordz22 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not your typical Lifetime movie viewer but I sat down to watch this with my mother. The initial set-up got my interest as it was a potentially interesting exploration of the human experience of loss and abandonment but what it ended up was a comically evil story of twists.

In the end they're all as bad as each other but the Lifetime ending doesn't lead you to any reflection on that.

Well Written
tawhnee-049479 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I like suspense movies and for a Lifetime movie this one was well thought out. It is able to villainize the rich spoiled daughter and keep your eyes on her. It is able to pull at your heart strings with the bereaved mother trying to connect with her long lost daughter. It was able to keep that question of the mother's motive alive. Then it was able to twits and turn throughout without breaking the storyline. At the end you wind up feeling sorry for the initial villain. Well done.
