It was ok, I guess, not what I was expecting, I really love it when shows do something really dynamic for the second-to-last episode, it brings the hype for the ending. Iris, became so annoying it hurts, at some point in this episode I thought about her dying in the last season finale, and it felt good. I would also like more backstory for Caitlyn and Killer Frost, seems something fresh and explorable. I have hopes for the next episode, and all the Marlize/Devoe melodrama, just don't let all this be in vain.

Warning: Spoilers
For most of us on watching this show, the season has been very lackluster. I love these characters so much since meeting them back in season 1 that I've stuck through all the filler episodes. This season has suffered from many filler episodes and ones dealing with off topic events that should be nowhere found in a show such as the flash. This episode although the second to last one finally brought back the charm to why I love these characters and feeling some sort of threat from the villain (Devoe). Hoping the finale concludes this season on a high enough note that will lead season 5 to such great heights as before and also explain Barry's mumbling jibberish in the beginning. (Also getting Caitlyn backstory is exactly the dark type of storytelling this show needs to get back to just as the reverse flashbacks were so intriguing.

Great for Caitlin and Cisco

In this episode I really appreciated the use of Caitlin and Cisco in flash time as I felt it was the first time in a while that they were actually useful and the show really represented them in a team very well by corresponding their powers together.

Luckily, the penultimate episode rocks! Barry and The Think race to ARGUS before the enlightenment. The season is now starting to have some direction, it is perfectly setting up for the finale to blow our minds! DeVoe's rivalry with Barry is the best it's ever been! Cisco has some of his funniest/best moments in this episode like his little breachling. I always remember this episode in regards to its opening infiltration of ARGUS. That is my favorite scene in the whole show! DeVoe uses his powers in crazy and unique ways to destroy the ARGUS guards! That scene is straight up cold blooded Thinker! Great episode with some awesome moments, perfect penultimate episode!
9/10-Great!👍👍

A Waste

There's little to no momentum going into next week's finale, and this week's episode didn't do a whole lot to expand that lack of momentum. Which pretty much puts this episode status quo with the rest of the season.
In short, DeVoe's plan to make the world dumber by releasing satellites is a huge letdown. To be fair, I guess there isn't really a ton this show can do with a non-speedster villain to make him or her feel compelling enough or "enough of a threat". It honestly begs the question of where these Arrowverse shows go and if they even have enough story left to tell. As good as Supergirl has been this year, there's a great sense of fatigue I'm feeling for the entire span of Arrowverse shows this year. Fair or not, a lot of that falls on the shoulders of The Flash.
The Cecile stuff is so overdone and pointless at this point too. Unless we're in for a huge reveal or moment with her in the finale, why such a focus on her and her powers this year? Perhaps on that same note, where is the mystery speedster here? Why have we been teased several times to her backstory without getting a proper introduction? Do we really have to wait until next season to find out what her deal is?
Overall, this show hasn't shown me that this season is willing to take any sort of chances. I sure hope that the finale really puts my hopes in the right direction, otherwise, this could be it for me with this show.
6.3/10

Devo is freaking awesome

What an intro. The most boring villain ever became a super bad ass for 5 minutes. . Using powers and killing people left and right. Dang it was nice. The flash...its not a womans show, and I feel that the women are ruining it. Iris, Frost, pregnant woman,...Yah I'm great with names. All super unnecessary drama that adds nothing to the show.
That intro....

Devoe was kicking some serious butt coming into ARGUS.What I like about that scene is that the ARGUS troops were actually trying to shoot to kill...not standing there just looking (like the Flash does in this series).Little confusing as to which stolen power he was actually using...other than the shrinking. I wholeheartedly agree that Iris must GO,she sits there and reads a screen and comes up with the obvious, adding her into star labs takes away from Cisco and Katlyn, they are supposed to be prodigees with many PHDs or so yet "know it all" Iris comes in and reads off a computer screen and is "smart"...cant stand her character.Glad Elongated Man is back, fond memories of he and Flash from the comics.
Cheesy when it comes to the penultimate episode
asb_deutsch22 May 2018
Among all seasons, this was the most disappointing penultimate episode. First, Iris was disappointing, now it is Cecile. The writers are making Barry Allen play second fiddle to them!
I still miss Infantino Street (S03E22).
My ratings (based on what I marked on IMDb): Season 1: 200/23 = 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; and Season 4: 146/22= 6.64 (This episode = 5.5/10)
The Flash is going downhill. . .
breathedirt16 May 2018
This was the second-to-last episode and yet it offered nothing special. The same formula developed in the season 4 - failed attempts at humor, annoying scenes with Iris and Cecile, under-average plot. Even the 3rd season's episode 22 (Infantino Street) was way better and more breath-taking than this one.
For the love of Flash: get rid of Iris!
adamsosnowski27 May 2020
The storyline involving Barry, Caitlin and Cisco was okay. I still have no idea why Cecile is on the show but whatever. Iris on the other hand is one of the most annoying TV characters ever created. Bossy without any competence, having the worst ideas and being a pain in the neck for everybody. She destroys the whole show.
