The Elongated Knight Rises

So many stupid unnecessary scenes. IMO it is the worst of episode of this season so far.

Let me just begin by saying the title of this episode is beyond ridiculous. The CW Arrowverse has never shied away from displaying their love for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, but there didn't seem to be any reason to have this nod to his trilogy tonight. It doesn't even flow well.

Anyways, the episode itself was actually quite good. It did something that this show consistently struggles with, balancing humor and drama. Unlike say, Supergirl's time in the coma, it sure looks like The Flash will spend a good chunk of episodes locked away in his father's cell. And if the episodes continue to give Barry an arc emotionally, then I would be fine with another 4 or 5 episodes like this.

This also gave Ralph some time to shine as a crime fighter in Central City, and he also developed a new rival of his own in Axel/The Trickster. As goofy as those moments were (especially just analyzing how bad Ralph's costume was), there was a keen lightness in tone that I felt the episode needed. I guess it's just a nice switch-up from The Thinker. Plus, bringing back Corinne Bohrer from the original Flash TV series was a nice complement to Trickster.

Overall, having Ralph get a new suit, Barry make a friend in jail, and a well balanced episode tonally is enough to get this show back on track. For now.

A very divisive episode as far as most of the reviews on here and on other sites seem to present. On the whole far sillier than normal but obviously a nod to fans of the old series which I don't think we had here in the UK, and was plainly more akin to the old Batman TV series than any of the modern DC TV shows. That's fair enough. The whole premise is shaky if you take it too seriously.

My quibble with this episode is a picky one and something most people will not give much of a damn about, but, it is quite irritating to those of us who do care about basic good manners and like our protagonists to exercise them even in an insincere American way.

Neither Cisco or Ralph thanked the girl at the end of the episode for paying for their drinks! I do notice that this sort of thing does happen quite regularly in US TV shows and films but it rather jumps out at me that both these men respond to this girl in a very rude fashion, as if humouring her, rather than acknowledging her act of generosity.

There's absolutely no way they're not paid by the show or if it's them writing it themselves. But they can't actually give this serious ratings like that. This show has bombed so hard. They really destroyed the CW DC series. They started off alright but they're straight garbage now. Corny, cliche, predictable.

Episode by episode, people I know and that I used to discuss episodes with, stopped watching, I think its getting close to my time. This show loses quality every episode these days. Its disappointing, it went from a great show that I rated 9-10 to a show that I cant even rate anything higher than a 3. It's just sad.
