Zero Hour: Part II
lassegalsgaard29 January 2020
So, while a noble follow-up to the epic first half of this finale, I can't help but be a little disappointed in what we got. I thought it started out strong, but where Thrawn had been a menacing threat in the first half, he made a few decisions this time around that I thought were a bit out-of-character, even though it didn't ruin the continuity of Thrawn as a whole. I also found the Bendu's supernatural inclusion in this episode a lit weird and forced, even though it made for some impressive visual designing on the bts crews part. I did love the return of Sabine and how this teases a return to Mandalore in the next season, and I do think that the epic scale of the first episode was captured in great fashion this time around as well. I would have simply wanted a little more care from the writers' room, and a little more of that emotional that I felt in the first episode. Overall, this finale was pretty great, and even though the season had some deep downs, I still feel like it was a success in its entirety. I am excited to see where we are going in the final season, and how they will tie it all in to the original trilogy and beyond.

Part 2

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was just as good as the first part.

The finale of Season 2 is some of the best Star Wars content from Disney and maybe as a whole, and while this doesn't reach that level of glory, it's still a really daring, entertaining finale, and made the whole season well worth it.

Thrawn was great. I would have liked just a little more of him this season, but his alter episodes are all awesome. It was nice seeing him IN battle too. That's not something that always happened in Zahn's sequel trilogy. I enjoyed his presence a lot here.

All of the different tomorrows threads led to something great. The Mandalorians helping Ezra and making a fool out of Pryce, Bendu's warning and eventual attack on the planet, and the warning he gives to Thrawn at the end, Sato's sacrifice... I loved it all.

This season had plenty of Jedi lore for my taste, but I also really liked all of the mystery stuff as wel as the space fights. I wish those were done this well in some of the movies and the other shows.

It was also nice to have ending where not only the good guys lost, but also a bad guys to a certain extent. A lot of people leave the episode feeling angered.

Also... I'm really glad Kallus survived and will be returning, finally on the good guys' side.

Overall, great season. I liked it just as much as Season 2, maybe a little more. I'm very excited for the final season!

Epic Season Finale
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic21 October 2020
This second part to the season finale is truly epic and sweepingly majestic.

Hera continues to be a tremendous heroic leader. We have renowned rebel leaders General Dodonna and Mon Mothma. We have Sato's moving heroism. We have Kanan and Ezra's quests to seek help. We have the Bendu showing his awesome powers (and awesome voice from Tom Baker). We have Zeb and Rex making brave stands. We have Kallus'storyline reaching a climax. We have hugely exciting battles against impossible odds and we have phenomenal, menacing villains. What more could a Star Wars fan want?

My rating: 10/10.

Season Review

Warning: Spoilers
After two good series', season 3 takes things up a notch. Not only do we get more consistently great episodes, but a lot leas filler then last season except that forgettable one where Chopper gets hacked. We get a truly good range of stuff with Thrawn introduced who is a great villain who is intelligent, intriguing, and a true adversary for the heroes. Maul is also a key villain as well, with his story brought to a successful conclusion. Ezra becomes more mature and developed as he learns to not blindly trust others and his responsibility as a leader. Kanan learns how to be wise and use his powers beyond his sight. Sabine has probably the most interesting development as she learns to trust herself and become the leader her people need. Also seeing Kallus become a good guy is earned and he becomes a great character. We also get more Mandalorian content as well which is cool. Highlights for me are 'The Last Battle' which was a nice wrap up for the Clone Wars, 'Visions and Voices' was a great developer of Maul and Ezra's story and provided pivotal moments for many characters, 'Through Imperial Eyes' which is a great thrilling Ezra/Kallus team-up and of course the two part finale 'Zero Hour' which was an action packed and thrilling conclusion to the series. It also led to the end of the Bendu (Tom Baker) who I would have loved to learn more about. But, the brilliant points of the series are 'Twin Suns' and 'Trials of the Darksaber'. The former ends Maul's arc in style and it's a great end to Ezra's connection to Mail before a swift, but satisfying fight between Maul and Obi-Wan. The latter is maybe the best episode of the show. It's a great development and backstory for Sabine, showing why she is the way she is and allows her to let go and be the best she can be. It's a very underrated piece of Star Wars media and deserves way more credit than it gets. A true step up in class this series and the best so far. One more to go! Score: 8.25/10.

Not enough to save weak season
Fluke_Skywalker30 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Plot; The Empire unleashes an assault on the Rebels while Ezra escapes to find help from an old friend.

Picking up right where Pt.1 left off, everything comes to a head in typical season finale fashion. Surprises are few (if any), but there's fun to be had; particularly Ezra and the Mandalorian's low-g assault on the hull of an Imperial ship. This episode really reminded me a lot of The Empire Strikes Back, where victory is measured by our heroes surviving and there's a hint that it's always darkest just before the dawn. It's not a transcendent episode by means, but it's got the kind of emotional purchase and narrative significance that the series should strive for each and every time out.
