Pokkiri Simon - A decent flick for Ilayathalapathy fan
joppanLive5 January 2018
I watched this movie without any expectation. And it didn't disappoint. As the name suggests, this is a low profile movie focused on the life of a "Superstar Vijay" fan. The film reminds us the scenes and dialogues of many hit Vijay movies and they are connected well in this movie. Sunny Wayne gave a decent performance and all the others supported well enough to fit this movie into my "Not That bad" category. Watch it with low expectation and it entertains you well if you are a Ilayathalapathy fan.

Pokkiri Simon: Capsule Review
nairtejas19 January 2018
Sunny Wayne is an actor I adore but his latest film is almost like a dark spot in his already weak film career. Director Jijo Antony pulls one too many tricks from the old textbooks in Pokkiri Simon as he asks his cast to fool around as much as they can. The film talks about a gang of loafers, led by Simon (Wayne), who are ardent fans of real-life Tamil actor and sensation, Vijay. They roam here and there and show that their fandom is based on respect and love for the actor and his obscure characters. With no regard for their personal lives or that of their family members, and no job, these youngsters fool around until they cross roads with a local gangster. The film then talks about this gangster and his outfits for some time. Then we have some cheesy, unbelievable romance between Simon and his girlfriend (Prayaga Martin), and finally a crime thriller that reeks of traditionalism. Except for a few laughs, I don't see anything that would qualify Pokkiri Simon to be played in front of an informed audience who appreciate quality films. It's mainly a play at glorifying actors' fan associations that have suddenly cropped up around us and tries to justify their actions. If you are a fan of the said actor, then maybe check it out, but otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. Pokkiri Simon is jack of all trades, and it's definitely not worth investing upon. TN.
