On Friday night, Missy Elliott delivered a mesmerizing set at Coachella 2025, literally gracing the stage as a car, transforming into herself, and then performing a rapid-fire set of hits like “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On,” “Lose Control,” and more.
Starting the night by proving that she’s still an innovator through and through, Elliott entered the main stage during the intro of “Throw It Back” disguised as a car, eventually rising to reveal a futuristic, robotic outfit. From there, she brought energy to her performance, amping the crowd with commanding raps and slick choreography.
The set proceeded with “Cool Off” — which was interpolated with samples of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” — followed by renditions of “We Run This,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “She’s a Bitch,” “Pass That Dutch,” and more.
See the full setlist and watch videos of the performance below.

There’s something magical about the movie Singin’ in the Rain. No matter how many times you watch it, the film feels just as fresh and joyful as the first time. It’s more than just a classic musical; it’s a beautiful and joyous story about love, ambition, and the challenges of an evolving time in Hollywood.
Set at a time when the film industry was transitioning from silent films to talkies, the movie showed creativity and charm in the chaos of that era. But everything was portrayed with a lighthearted touch.

There’s nothing like starting a movie with a running gag, and Rungano Nyoni’s On Becoming a Guinea Fowl kicks off with a beauty. A young woman Shula (Susan Chardy) is driving home late at night. She notices something in the road. It’s a body. Not only that — Shula recognizes the corpse. He was a relative. She calls the authorities. Soon, her party-girl cousin Nsansa (Elizabeth Chisela) stumbles into the scene as well, and begins drunkenly dancing in front of the car’s headlights. But that’s not the funny part.

Manga comes in all varieties. Some are deeply beloved and inspire friendship among fellow manga-lovers. Others are far more controversial with the topics they cover or how much fanservice they have. They may have questionable relationships or lean a little too heavily into violence.
No matter how good these manga may be, fans can't escape the potential judgment they may face if they read these series in public. Sometimes it's best just to read in the comfort of one's own home. It's better than facing conflict because of reading a simple manga.

Writer-director Rungano Nyoni’s On Becoming a Guinea Fowl begins magnetically and absurdly, and with a wonderfully welcome lack of forewarning of what’s to come. Dressed like Missy Elliott in her iconic music video for “The Rain,” Shula (Susan Chardy) is heading back from a “fancy dress” party when her pop music-infused reverie is interrupted by the sight of her Uncle Fred (Roy Chisha) lying dead on the side of the road.
What follows is a sardonically funny phone call between Shula, strangely unbothered in her extravagant gemstone-adorned helmet and inflated black romper, and her father (Henry B.J. Phiri) as she tells him that her uncle is a corpse. But Dad has a hard time understanding her and insists that Uncle Fred cannot die, and that she must be wrong. The next day, one of her many aunts demands that she feign ignorance if the cops ask her what she knows.

October 25 will mark 62 years since the release of the first film directed by Francis Ford Coppola: “Come on Out” (later retitled “Tonight for Sure”), a re-edited feature version of three different shorter nudie films he made while a film student at UCLA. It debuted in 1962, right in the middle of the Cuban missile crisis.
With “Megalopolis” opening, he likely has the longest feature film directorial career ever, ahead of Manoel de Oliveira (61 years), Jean-Luc Godard (58), Jerzy Skolimowsky (58), and Frederick Wiseman (56). Clint Eastwood, whose latest film “Juror #2” premieres next month, spans a mere 53 as a director.
To sustain a career that long necessitates a lot of success, which Coppola has had, led by “The Godfather.” But it has been a perilous journey, elongated (“Megalopolis” the most extreme) by his willingness to spend money to keep directing. Of note, his last studio-financed film was “The Rainmaker,” 27 years — and nearly half his career — ago.

One Piece revolves around Monkey D. Luffy and his journey to find the greatest treasure in the world, known as the One Piece. At the same time, there are countless others who also seek the same reward, creating some hot competition for the Straw Hat Pirates. Across his sojourn through the Grand Line, Luffy has gradually gathered a reliable crew who, despite having their own dreams, would sacrifice anything to ensure that their captain becomes the King of the Pirates.
Given the general trajectory of most Shonen anime, it's fairly clear that Monkey D. Luffy will be the strongest character in One Piece by the end of the series. However, the Straw Hat Pirates are far from the only group sailing the Grand Line. They have already faced numerous overpowered enemies so far, and there's no doubt that their toughest battles remain ahead.

Missy Elliott’s 1997 debut single “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” was a rocket upon release, and now, it’s in outer space.
NASA has transmitted “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” all the way to Venus, which NASA confirms is Missy Elliott’s favorite planet. The 158 million mile transmission was sent at the speed of light via NASA’s Deep Space Network, which is comprised of a set of giant radio antennas based in Barstow, California. Its radio signal took about 14 minutes to reach Venus.

The former Disney Channel actress has since performed the song on Saturday Night Live!
After gaining appreciation from Katy Perry, the song seems to have found a fan in the legendary Adele. The Rolling in the Deep singer recently spoke about Carpener’s song being on her mind while at a performance. She called the song ‘her jam’ and mentioned that she was crooning to the banger one night after a performance.

Francis Ford Coppola has made some of the most defining American films of all time, including The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now. Although not every film in his oeuvre holds such a vaunted place in cinema history, Coppola’s over 60-year career deserves a titanic close. Megalopolis promises to be just such a proper ending with its ambitious self-funding and a massive cast led by Adam Driver. Coppola has been gathering ideas about the project for as long as he’s been making movies, but the kernel of the concept goes back even farther.
“The seeds for Megalopolis were planted when as a kid I saw H.G. Wells’ Things to Come,” Coppola wrote in a statement to Vanity Fair. “This 1930s [Alexander] Korda classic is about building the world of tomorrow, and has always been with me, first as the ‘boy scientist’ I was and later as a filmmaker.” Directed by William Cameron Menzies,...

Lifelong friends Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman only worked together twice. First paired off in Alfred Hitchcock's 1946 thriller-romance Notorious, where their dictionary definition of "sizzling chemistry" burned a permanent hole through celluloid, the pair reunited 12 years later for Indiscreet. Despite the one-word titles evoking similar ideas, Indiscreet is no Notorious. For one, it lacks lethal espionage stakes. What's more, Indiscreet's title doesn't suit its premise: a snarky yet sweet romance between two glamorous middle-aged people that flips into a slapstick sex comedy halfway through. What the films share is Grant and Bergman's magnetism, which is the movie-watching equivalent of sticking your finger in a wall socket. Not only can those two reverse a black hole, they complement one another because they're generous, perceptive performers. Theirs is a call-and-response partnership where both participants listen and respond. And like that long kiss scene in Notorious, Indiscreet facilitates that combustible fusion...

Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen's Singin' in the Rain is an iconic film, and its cast ensemble consisting of Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds, among others, went on to cement their positions in Hollywood as legends in cinema following their performance in the cult-following film. Many remember the famous and unforgettable "Singin' in the Rain" scene. The scene is a perfect harmony between actor Gene Kelly's portrayal of fictional actor Don Lockwood's rhythmic movement with an umbrella in tow, the music, and the soft sound of rain beautifully mixed with the tapping of his feet splashing through puddles of water on the cemented floor. The now legendary Singin' in the Rain scene's artistry combines three elements: picture, sound, and dance. It is a spectacle. But the making of the iconic film was not without its share of side drama, including the hospitalization of one of its main cast members.

The Walking Dead enjoyed a prolonged run of eleven seasons, generating interest among viewers to check out similar zombie shows across multiple genres and countries. After witnessing the survivalist adventures of Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and many other drifters affected by the zombie apocalypse, viewers can explore the numerous ongoing spin-offs and prequels that the AMC show has spawned. Ever since The Walking Dead pilot aired first in 2010, the zombie genre has gone on to be reinterpreted in wildly creative ways. For instance, Santa Clarita Diet played out as a dark romantic comedy with zombie tropes while Kingdom reimagined the undead in medieval Korean history.
But among the new-age zombie shows, fans of The Walking Dead would opt for more conventional picks that delve into themes of human survival and brutal bloodshed. Still, there’s a scope for even these hyperviolent shows to play around a zombie invasion in diverse settings.

One of the Naruto series' most noticeable features is that villains rarely remain such until the end, as their lives and perspectives are changed after fighting the series' main character. However, one particular villain's deeds were so vile that he didn't deserve to be redeemed by Naruto. In a world filled with powerful ninjas capable of incredible and terrible feats, war and violence ruled many of its lands with an iron fist. Still, no one got close to the inhumane cruelty displayed by Nagato/Pain when he seized control of the Village Hidden in the Rain.
On Jiraiya's fateful mission to gather information on the terrorist organization Akatsuki's leader, he successfully infiltrated the Rain village and subtly captured and interrogated a shinobi guard. However, in chapter #369, titled "Regarding Pain," Naruto's mentor learned the brutal and terrible truth of what happened to the previous leader of Rain Village, Hanzo of the Giant Salamander,...

Singin' In The Rain is a highly romanticized version of Manny's experiences during Hollywood's transition to talkies, paralleling the struggles he faced in Babylon. Manny's emotional reaction to Singin' In The Rain proves that he made a lasting imprint on Hollywood, reviving suppressed memories and validating his contributions to the industry. The divisive ending of Babylon, featuring the Singin' In The Rain montage, is emotionally significant and intended to evoke strong emotions, despite its mixed reception among viewers.

Jackie Chan brings two major comedy influences to his 2003 movie Shanghai Knights, which are a bigger deal than they seem. Following on 2000's Shanghai Noon, Shanghai Knights sees Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) and Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson) join forces again to stop a plot against the throne in Victorian London. They are also joined in their mission by Chon's sister Chon Lin (Fann Wong), who Roy develops a romance with.
When it comes to Jackie Chan's Hollywood filmography, Shanghai Knights is one of his most beloved action-comedies, and one reason for that lies in just how much of Jackie Chan's Hong Kong style of comedy and action are prevalent in the film. Moreover, Chan also brings two key influences from his career into Shanghai Knights. Considering how infrequently they have been seen in the rest of his Hollywood career, that makes their use a much bigger deal in Shanghai Knights.

One of the many pleasures of “John Wick: Chapter Four” is how it seamlessly integrates camera movement, editing, and action choreography with music — no surprise given that director Chad Stahelski has acknowledged “Singin’ in the Rain” and Bob Fosse as influences. The propulsive score by Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard weaves in and out of needle drops by Le Castle Vania, Manon Hollander, and Lola Colette, whose cover of Martha and the Vandellas’ “Nowhere to Run” ties “John Wick: Chapter 4” to one of its primary sources of inspiration, Walter Hill’s “The Warriors.” The balance between score and source music mirrors and enhances the careful rhythms established by Stahelski’s staging and structuring of the set pieces, and it was one of the most enjoyable aspects of editor Nathan Orloff’s job.

Last year, Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle made a decadent hate letter to Hollywood, a film which dived into the seedy, salacious, and ultimately gruesome side of an industry that trades on fantasy and prefers to look at itself through glasses a shade of rose. Chazelle’s Babylon failed to set the world on fire at the box office, but it does have its admirers, including those enamored by an ending sequence in which a crucial character wanders into a movie house decades after his heyday in the silent era and early talkies. And he catches, as it so happens, Singin’ in the Rain during its original 1952 theatrical run.

Fast-rising Danish production powerhouse Motor, led by scribe Christian Torpe and producer Jesper Morthorst, has unveiled a splashy five-pic slate, led by the Göteborg Film Festival’s closing film “Camino” by Birgitte Stærmose and Tea Lindeburg’s pic in development “The Seal Woman,” to be pitched at the Discovery strand of Göteborg’s Nordic Film Market (Feb. 2-5).
One of the hottest new Danish directors, Netflix “Equinox” series creator Lindeburg made waves on the festival circuit with her directorial debut “As in Heaven,” which scooped a double win in San Sebastian and best-Nordic statuette in Göteborg 2021, before wooing several buyers including Juno Films in the U.S.
Her anticipated sophomore feature “The Seal Woman,” based on her original screenplay, is inspired by a Faroese legend, which has it that those who drown themselves turn into seals. And once every year, they return to shore in their human shape.
