America’s Next Top Model was a beloved reality competition show in the 2000s and 2010s. In the 2020s, the Tyra Banks-fronted show came under renewed scrutiny as viewers rediscovered some of the problematic photo shoots that were done on the show.
Tyra Banks | Noam Galai/Getty Images Cycle 4’s race-swapping shoot
One of the most infamous photo shoots in Top Model history took place during its fourth season in 2005. The models were tasked with creating their own “Got Milk?” ads and posing with children. But the shoot had a twist: the contestants would each be transformed by the hair and makeup team into different races.
The result was some of the white models posing as Black women, Black models as Asian women, and Black models as white women. Naturally, in the decades since then, fans have come to realize the problematic nature of changing races for a photo shoot...

Producer and writer Ivan Atkinson, whose credits include Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen and Aladdin, has said he will adopt a Decentralized Autonomous Organization structure underpinned by NFTs for future feature productions.
Under the move, his London-based company One Van Films is partnering with Light Cycle, a 3D metaverse platform tailored to fashion, entertainment, gaming, filming, music, sports and Nft, on the Caduceus Ecosystem.
A Dao gives control of decision-making for movie productions and releases to community members, with full transparency and without influence by any one central authority.
One Van Films and Light Cycle want to pioneer an Nft and Dao project that will reward loyal fans and supporters with an up-close-and-personal relationship to the film industry and unprecedented behind-the-scenes access.
“This project is one that has taken careful crafting and consideration,” said Atkinson. “I aim to contribute to the film industry by creating a way for an audience...

The Arrowverse is facing a more uncertain future than ever before, with Supergirl being the latest show to call it quits (after one more season) and Batwoman having to recast the titular hero after only a single run. Not only that, but co-creators Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim have both taken a step back from the shared universe to focus on their Green Lantern show for HBO Max, after essentially being the architects of the entire experiment.
Still, the franchise will continue on and now, we know when both The Flash and Batwoman – among others – will be back on our screens. And thankfully, it’s sooner rather than later. According to Deadline, The CW has today announced the premiere dates for a whole host of their shows, and here’s how the schedule looks:
Friday, January 8
8-8:30 p.m. Whose Line Is It Anyway? (Cycle 9 premiere)
8:30-9 p.

U.K. rock trio Doves will return from their decade-long hiatus on September 11th with a new album titled The Universal Want, the band’s first LP since 2009’s Kingdoms of Rust.
Doves’ Jimi Goodwin and brothers Andy and Jez Williams shared “Prisoners” from their upcoming album on Thursday. “It’s about continually chasing something and not being satisfied when you eventually get it. You’ve got ‘that thing’ and you find you’re not any happier. Be careful what you wish for,” Andy Williams said of “Prisoners” in a statement.

The Magic Lantern is a device that dates back to the 1600s — and possibly the 1400s — and was used to project static images. According to the modern day Magic Lantern Society, Danish mathematician Thomas Rasmussen Walgensten was the first person to use the term “Laterna Magica” in the mid-1600s to describe his image projection device. Magic lanterns were routinely used to put on “super-natural” shows, such as projecting images of ghosts onto smoke; and an illustration from 1420 shows a lantern-like device projecting an image of the devil.
In the early 1900s, occultist Aleister Crowley founded the religion Thelema and used the word “magick” to differentiate his occult rituals from the more common concept of performance “magic.”
Marrying these two concepts together, avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger has used the phrase “Magick Lantern Cycle” to collect his separate short films under a unifying connective umbrella.
