Maybe, maybe promising director,but... Some good dialogs, some reasonably good effects, some decent camera work, but soooooooooo incredibly long and disjointed....Just not interesting enough to pull off 3 hours of watch.3 stars for effort,0 for interest.

Goofier than a wooden watch
nogodnomasters23 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film takes place in Slough Town, Wa. "where everybody dies". It is pronounced "slew" Town. After the death of her parents, Nina (Sanae Loutsis) lives with her estranged Aunt Erma Ritz (Joy Yaholkovsky). Erma is good friends with June (Tabitha Bastien) who works at "the club" for Ash Walker (Earl Gray) local drug dealer and human trafficker. He has designs on Nina.

Meanwhile Milton Treadwill (Jonathan Holbrook) a seven-foot-tall, 350-pound man escapes from the local asylum. He is our serial killer, director, and writer. Nina is obsessed with the story of the Rabbit King, which our killer becomes while wearing the clothes of a dead man with the name tag of "Harvey", shades of Mary Chase.

The film is long. We know the background of all the main characters. There were some good one-liners in the film, although their delivery left something to be desired. The film didn't seem to be operating on all cylinders. The acting was bland, which worked well for the sheriff, but none of the other line readers. The director was not able to get the most out of his cast, perhaps being too busy in his role.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Why can't you give this NEGATIVEstars?
mikeonline-7448418 September 2019
This movie was fxcking awful. The acting is just painfully horrible to watch. It had a really good premise & setup for a cool 80s horror flick vibe, but the actors completely killed this movie with their pathetic attempts at "acting" and always coming off like they are bored and would rather be anywhere else but on set. Give this one a pass and save yourself the 90-odd minutes ot however long it is. Ugh.

The trailer is misleading, kind of...
stevejonesisking10 September 2019
The trailer is awesome. Makes you want to watch it. Kudos to whoever edited it. But it is misleading in the fact that this movie is so much more than the trailer. It has a massive story to it. Its not just a slasher film like the trailer makes it look. The movie is a bit long for my taste but it kept my interest. Acting is pretty good. Definitely a few stand outs. The cops where my favorite. Very classic old jaded cop and rookie cop pairing. They played well off of each other. The Little girl was awesome also. Great writing, awesome cinematography, suspenseful at times, a few very cringe worthy and surprising scenes. I am glad I stumbled on this one. Definitely worth a watch.

You're either gonna love it or hate it... It's not for everyone. Forget mainstream, forget hollywood quality acting and just go with the trippy flow! Brilliant.

Overlong if still highly worthwhile effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder3 November 2019
After surviving a terrible car accident, a young girl forced to stay with a relative in her small-town home, but while she's out taking jobs to raise the girl she befriends an escaped mental patient who reminds her of her deceased family and tries to help each other get by in life.

This was a wholly enjoyable genre epic. Among the film's brightest aspects is a wholly unique and intriguing storyline that manages to include some interesting setups throughout here. The film's core of the daughter forging the relationship with the killer based on the mutual acceptance of each other's conditions, where she's completely overwhelmed about living in the situation and gets tied together with the killer due to their connection to rabbits. Given what we see about their living situation, with the aunt completely unwilling to take on the role of guardian to the quiet niece as she's not willing to disrupt her own life to take care of her, there's an obvious need for her to connect with something which comes in the form of the serial killer who enters her life wearing the fabled mask her father wore. Given that situation and the flashbacks detailing not only her connection to the creature but also her fathers' tactics to bring her up with stories and fantasies involving them, the misconception and relationship that builds here is incredibly well-detailed and fully reasonable within this universe. On top of that, the film also scores exceptionally well with its horror and stalking scenes. The scenes of the killer taking out the hospital staff and seeing the aftermath of the hospital escape showcase some great gore as we see what the killer is capable of. Later scenes, from him stalking the owner of the garage, the ambush on the fisherman in the woods or his triumphant rescue scene in the woods when he kills off the group that was planning on using her as an occult sacrifice, range from the stalking showcasing the more extended setups possible with his appearing to them and bringing out the tension of the maniac chasing them along or just the sudden short shock of the behemoth appearing and killing. Given that these scenes are done in conjunction with fine storytelling reasons as the killer is more interested in protecting the one person kind to him but not realizing he's not supposed to kill everyone he comes across adds a special touch that's quite enjoyable. As well, the film also manages to contain plenty of stellar technical qualities, from a trippy drug-fueled party with psychedelic camerawork and genuinely funny moments which all make this one a lot of fun at times. There are a few flaws in the film. The biggest issue is easily the most obvious as the gargantuan running time could be seen as an overwhelming obstacle to overcome. For sure, the film is generally worth it but the fact that this one could've been split into separate features or trimmed down to keep a slightly more energetic tempo as the film does stay interesting throughout but does get the running time down slightly and be a little more manageable. Some scenes run on far too long than they need to while others could've been trimmed down as well with the end result being cutting down the film since there's little need to be as long as it is. There's also several subplots that could've been cut out completely since all they do is add to the running time or add bodies to be chopped up, including the child-smuggling ring and their operations or the day-to-day exploits of the police duo investigating the escape which tends to run up the film's length without much to warrant their inclusion. The fact that some might have an issue with the lack of attention paid to the girl being alone as often as she is without anyone coming to check on her as that seems rather odd, but otherwise there isn't much really wrong with this one.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and continuous scenes of children-in-jeopardy.

Not bad at all
robertopoletti9 September 2019
At the beginning it is a little confusing. If one has the patience to continue watching it, it turns out to be a good film. There is something of Tarantino's Pulp Fiction in the dialogues. The end could have been better, though. Actors play fine. Considering it is an independent, low-budget film, i would defintely reccomend it.

A Dark Fairy Tale
themovieraidshow15 October 2022
Story about a girl who gets in a car accident and tragically looses her parents and having to stay with a related as her guardian. Jonathan Holbrooks direction in this story will put you into a world of haze around it's characters by showing specific points of their character.

The story almost feels like a three part because you follow the girl (Sanae Loutsis) through a stage of confusion, the feeling of lost and companionship.

A hint of folk lore also plays it's part in this with the damsel in distress missing love and the beast who could not feel it but accept it. You can't help but feel for "Harvey" in this due to his nature but it's a mere subtle of a dilusion because even a loyal animal can't be tamed for what it's always been.

The cast in this does it well giving the audience a take on who these people are and the misery they carry in this universe.

It is a film to take in that provides it's own unique way if story telling.

Pretty good but long
livinthattacolife17 September 2019
Multiple different story lines throughout the movie. Kind of a slasher/comedy of sorts. I went into it with zero expectations and was pretty surprised. It's got a good story, it's shot well, acting is pretty good, but it is long. I think the story could have been told in a shorter film. I could see 20 or so minutes getting cut out and telling the same story. Besides the length I was entertained. I think it's worth a watch.

Psychological Terror at it's finest
mfc212825 May 2020
I loved the overall "quiet theme" for this film. It was executed perfectly by director Johnathan Holbrook. This approach in my eyes Made every door creek, every phone ring that much more intense. In addition it allows your mind to process the complex plot. Similar to a book each viewer can and will have different takes on the events unfolding. Combine that with the award winning performance of Sanae Loutsis and you have a new age thriller/horror masterpiece. Simple and effective. Transparent and frightening. A must see.

This is not for everyone
drycreek1718 September 2019
This movie has the potential to be great. The trailer makes it seem like horror/slasher film but it is more of a slasher/comedy. Quite a few funny moments. Quite a few very cringe worthy moments also. 3 hours has become the new norm for movies it seems but this movie didn't need to be 3 hours. All in all a entertaining movie despite the length. If you can make it through the couple drawn out moments you will enjoy it. I would recommend it.
