Jughead comments in regard to Archie's heroics, "If you keep this up we're gonna have to give you a superhero name; Pureheart the Powerful". Pureheart the Powerful is, in fact, Archie's superhero alter ego in Archie Comics.
A lot of comic book references in this episode including Jughead calling Archie "Pureheart the Powerful" (a comic book published by Archie comics)... and the killer looking and being referred to as "Black Hood" (a golden age superhero under the Archie Comics banner).
This is the first episode we actually see Jughead eat a cheeseburger which he is constantly seen doing in the comics.
The theme playing at the end is from the opening of Rosemary's Baby.
Charles Melton replaces Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle starting with this episode. This is due to Butler's commitment as one of the main characters, Zach Dempsey, on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (2017).
