Good series but not good persons

Warning: Spoilers
Everything was going great until Wez and mainly Cheri joined the house, they are one of the worst human beings I've ever seen and they make seeing the episodes, mainly through the end, painfull, It's sad that they bring such terrible people into the house.

My 3rd TH
Brad_G3510 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I started with Opening New Doors, Currently on the new Tokyo season, and I decided to binge this on my vacation.

Most of the cast was lackluster for this season. Don't get me wrong... there were plenty of cast members to love but overall, even the lovable cast members weren't that interesting. The panel and Taishi truly carried this season.

Since this season was in Hawaii, there were plenty of cast members in transit between Hawaii and Japan. While they have their art, surf, clothing, and whatever lives... I think the traveling for a week should be minimized in the future. More than half of the time, the house was never full. One person comes back as another leaves, repeat. A couple of times, more than one person was gone.

I still need to watch the first two seasons but Cheri will likely go down as the TH member I dislike the most. I want to call her immature but I'm not sure if that's the right word for it. She had this vibe to her like she was better than everyone in the house and it wasn't pleasant.

So-So

Arguably the weakest of all the Netflix co-produced seasons so far, Aloha State is still entertaining. However, I think it would have been much better to have stayed in Japan or else have an all-Japanese cast instead of mixing it up.

Two housemates stood out: Yusuke the musician and Guy the pro-surfer. They were the best in terms being real and being genuinely nice people. Yusuke, particularly, I thought was not treated well and deserved much better.

Kenny and Yusuke playing together in Terrace House: Tokyo 2019 - 2020 was probably the best episode ever in the entire series.

So refreshing!

Warning: Spoilers
While browsing on Netflix yesterday, I came across the recently added episodes of Terrace House and randomly clicked it, not really knowing what to expect. 7hrs later(!), I realised that I was starving and had completely missed taking my dog for her walk! Feeling bad for my dog, I quickly set the laptop down, got out of bed (ahem), and got ready for the day. Luckily it was Sunday, so the fact that the day had disappeared while I was immersed in the daily lives of these perfect strangers didn't have too drastic an impact. What compelled me to keep watching hour after hour, you might well ask ... I think it was that, unlike other reality shows where people live together, they actually get to leave the house and carry on with their lives, striving towards their career goals and working to realise their dreams. The participants are so civil/real/polite/respectful towards one another too, which is a HUGE departure from other reality shows; super refreshing, that! (",) It isn't a competition either, which probably helps in that regard, in that the participants aren't rivals for a prize. It really feels unscripted too, which is a claim that most reality shows make, but fail to live up to. Did I mention that it's all in Japanese?! I love that - not that I speak it (does studying it haphazardly in high school count?) - but I really enjoyed seeing that even non-Japanese people who studied the language were included. The diversity of participants is fantastic to see and fascinating to watch (7hrs later, after all!). There's a panel of commentators whose reactions to the show are shown intermittently throughout each episode. Honestly, I think they were the reason I kept watching for so long!! Their reactions and comments were solid gold and added to my interest in the participants. Very much looking forward to seeing more, but I'll plan more carefully - maybe limit myself to only viewing it on the weekends, just in case I get sucked in again for umpteen hours, heh.

BEST romance reality show ever, period.

Ok, I realize I am late to the game, but almost done watching all 4 parts on Netflix. All I can say is, WOW! The show is nothing like the Western reality shows and is so much better. Every single house guests were entertaining and each had their story. The star, ace and hero of the entire Terrace House: Aloha State show was without any doubt, Taishi. You can't help but be amazed at his way of getting every single girl on a date like a real BOSS! His skills are nothing less then incredible; he is a GOD! Many would see him as manipulative and may get annoyed (maybe because he is just unstoppable), but if a style works on every single girl, then why change it? Every single girl who went out with him said he was amazing. He is not a player nor is he a mack daddy. His goal to go to the house was to find the love of his life and he was being very efficient and fast to "sample" every girl to be sure he does not overlook the one... I'm so happy for him when Chika arrived as she definitely made him see what finding a girl worth dying for was really like. They fell for each other pretty much early on. She may be better at keeping her admiration for him low key. They do make a nice, lovely couple and do match together perfectly.

I have come to admire him and I definitely want to follow him and see when he succeeds in Hollywood.

A Guilty Pleasure.

It's definitely not as entertaining as Boys And Girls In the City, mostly because of its cast, but it has its moments and I still had fun watching it for the most part.

Love the show. Strongly recommended. Best Reality Show. Excellent and beautiful places. The relationship with each person in the terrace house is great. This show true friendship. Hope they can create more of these kinds of reality shows on Netflix. Of course I love the other Japanese drama and movies too. Love the culture.

Uninteresting cast for the most part
DHosis3 April 2019
I wasn't too happy with the cast of the 2015 Terrace House (too many people just trying to further careers in entertainment), but compared to this 2016 version, well, it was downright amazing.

Most of the male house guests were passably entertaining (including one surprise at the very start, which didn't fit the typical mold), but can't say the same for the female guests.

I'd love to see more people actually interested in this 'relationship' aspect, vs. playing to camera for modeling, actor, etc., careers.

I can't help but think an age range of 21-34 would be infinitely more interesting than the 18-29 that has been shown the last two seasons.

The most boring show ever
derek-milligan13 January 2022
This is the first show I have reviewed, I'm reviewing it because it is soooo bad, these guys are boring AF. Everyone stuck in depression gear and show goes absolutely no where. Wrong cast, wrong guests.

Being in isolation is more fun then enduring the boring depressive mood they all exert.

Not for me
shingp20 May 2017
I saw first episode and through out the episode there was quite a lot of silence than I expected. The conversations was pretty boring, and I think they should cast people that is way more open and social. I tried to watch the last episode of the first season... But if you like to watch a reality series that is quite calm, then this might be for you. It's not for someone who usually watch common reality series
