If we can't get along, the terrorists win.
nogodnomasters15 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is an Asylum production. Director Ron Thornton passed while making it or shorty there after. The mock buster title has nothing to do with the race car on the cover nor does it have "B" actors having stunt doubles drive fast cars with CG effects so they can violate every law of physics.

Benji (Zach Steffey) is one of few people who has access to the "Genesis 7" code which will...well we never know that plot point but we know it is important. He is coerced by Harriet (Monique Parent) into giving her the code. If he doesn't his wife Donna (Mimi Davila), who is in a plane, will die and he will also be paid $10 million dollars which to me would have been a deal closer. Harriet is a bad impersonation of Elle Driver. The plane will become uncontrollable if it does certain things...like try to land. Donna befriends Kurt (Jason Tobias) and calls him Justin for much of the film.

The film has one dramatic riff that it plays over and over. Not to give too much away, but what is a Middle Eastern-American is the hero and in the end a guy with a skin head apologizes for his views. The acting was horrible as I managed to breathe through my mouth for much of the feature. It also had lines like, "As useful as a Pogo stick in quicksand" and "Trickier then trying to get a mule to mate with a sheepdog." These lines would have worked better in "Airplane IV." There are no Volcanoes, meteors, or ice storms to throw this into an Asylum, "so bad it is good" category, but it tries.

Guide: 1 F-word. No sex or nudity.

In the air, no one can hear you sleep. Unless you snore. They'll defo know then.

Warning: Spoilers
So, here we are, another asylum film, that's not what it says it is. Only this particular example is exceptionally egregious. It's unfathomable why a post Sharknado Asylum would promote a 70's style disaster film as a Fast and the Furious clone. It makes no sense at all. It's almost as stupid as the film itself. I say almost.

The only reason why someone would not make Airplane references whilst watching this bird brainer would be that they never saw Airplane, and even if they didn't, they'd still know, on instinct, that this is a bunch of cliched bollocks. Something suggests to me that this whole film is a troll. That the disaster film tropes are so concisely played out to the letter, that this is some misguided attempt at parody. Which is stupid by the way, if that happens to be true.

Another explanation for this tedious don't care at all is that someone at the asylum really, really wanted to make a disaster movie in the year of our Lord 2017, and convinced backers that it was a good idea for a production house that couldn't produce establishing shots without the aid of animation software to do this.

These films in the 70's made profit solely on spectacle and their ensemble star cast. They were a desperate attempt by studios at the time to get one up on the kind of high returning low budget genre movies The Asylum has been making since the genesis. These movies were always absurd and it was only their excessive budgets that drew audiences in. Not like the Asylum would clock this or even care if they did. They are the mockbuster guys after all. Supreme hucksters.

But when this blithe overconfidence is coupled with gross mis marketing and Sharknado levels of absurdity, uncoupled from that film's sense of 'irony' as well, the result is one of the worst Asylum films I've ever sat through. I can't remember the last time I cared so less, I disengaged so completely from a Direct to DVD movie. I thought I had built up an immunity towards low budget banality, but nope, I can barely remember anything from this film apart from several utterly witless plot twists and an antagonist too effectively snide to be in a film this unintelligent.

It was a brain drain watching The Fast and the Fierce. A film seemingly allergic to logic, realism and even reason. One that relies independently upon the audience's conviction of the severe danger the scenario presents, and yet was so lazily written, the result becomes a feature film so packed with statements of pure anti-realism so earnestly presented, it could be the centrepiece of a video lecture on climate change denial. This was crap.

But this was nothing like "The Fast and the Furious", not even by a longshot...
paul_haakonsen9 June 2018
"The Fast and the Fierce" is definitely one of the worst titles The Asylum has put out so far. Especially since the title cashes in on "The Fast and the Furious", but it has absolutely nothing to do with that movie or genre.

This movie was actually entertaining enough for what it turned out to be, go figure.

There was some good enough acting throughout the movie, which was also a surprise for a movie such as this. It was especially nice to see Dominique Swain in the movie.

The CGI in "The Fast and the Fierce" was questionable at times. But of course, that was to be expected by a movie from The Asylum.

I managed to sit through the movie in all of its mundane entirety, and I can honestly say that I will not be returning to it a second time around.

Terrible
nathanjackhomeadvisor8 April 2017
This movie is awful. I haven't left any reviews on IMDb yet, but this is worth posting. This is the longest and most pathetic waste of time to watch. Bad acting, the title insinuates that it is somehow related to the fast and furious series; it's not. Poor performance, poor plot. Trust me, save your time, money or any "investment" in watching this.

What a load of....
Australian110 April 2017
The poster is very misleading. Intending to make it look like something akin to The Fast and The Furious. The plane, the passengers, the crew, the captain, all nonsense. The plane flying between buildings you wouldn't even find in a computer game! And the acting is mostly bad, the plot doesn't make sense, and the last minute is also dumb, dumb. Give it a miss, I really mean it!

Wow
adam-150916 April 2017
Definitely a 1 out of 10 as you can't give a big fat zero. All the other reviewers seem to have summed up the film in it's entirety, well except the first review, but as that is from someone who 'stars' in the film then it's not really surprising is it......... Watch it if you want to waste 90 minutes of your life!!

No words to describe such awful movie
tegginamaniss9 April 2017
The story and direction is terrible. CGI is terrible. Any movie using CGI should have a minimum quality, otherwise CGI makes it look worse. Engineering is literally thrown down the gutter! The plane scrapes a helicopter (the helicopter explodes), grazes the earth by the wing and nothing happens!! This whole movie is a waste of everything.

I don't even know why I started watching this.

It's a movie by The Asylum
ajhpower11 April 2021
I enjoy movies by The Asylum, if you watch enough of them your expectations are not very high You just want to watch something that involves minimal thinking and one viewing is enough... This movie 100% meets that criteria.

90 minutes of my life wasted
davidmantle1 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Truly a dire waste of time. 90 minutes of my life I shall not get back. I should have realised from reading the synopsis that it would be a very poor copy of "Speed". Both the acting and scenic effects leave a lot to be desired. Not sure if even watching this film whilst drunk would make any difference to the overall experience.

Not 1-star terrible
Despite the 1 star reviews given by other reviewers, this film has entertainment value. The acting and CGI isn't terrible, I've certainly seen far worse.

What this film does suffer from is liberalism. Like every recent film (which unfortunately come from the left more often than not), it's used as a propaganda platform with the same repetitive tropes.

Typical of leftist projectionism, every white person who is on screen at any time is of course

  • Racist

  • Evil

  • Greedy

  • Corrupt

  • Cowardly

  • Suffering from anger problems

The middle eastern pilot and the black and gay Asian cabin crew are the only good guys.

And of course the only white person who isn't completely evil is a cafe- dwelling hipster with a laptop. But even he is painted as having a grey moral code and skipping out on his own honeymoon.

If you can look past the inherently-racist socialist propaganda then this is a good film for a lazy afternoon, reminiscent of the aeroplane-emergency type films from the 80s

NOT BAD...JUST LOW BUDGET! WORTH A TRY!
Erin5026621 April 2022
Any show that can keep me interested in its entirety is worth a six or seven! I would have given a 7 but the title has nothing to do with the plot. The premise maybe overdone and it's not as good as "Red Eye", a personal favorite and a 9 but just because a movie has a low budget doesn't mean it's not worth your time! There are many fine actors oh, even if unknown, and the dialogue is true to life. So I don't know what everybody's bitching about except they want a free movie to be as good as a $15 one!

Dreadful, but not boring if you like 'spoofs'
donnachuter15 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I thought as I was watching this film that it was a spoof like 'Airplane', I don't know what to say really except that this was verging on funny as in hilarious, I found myself laughing most of the way through, it is so bad that it may end up having the status of a 'cult' movie. Seriously though it's a waste of money and I wish I had read the reviews before watching it, the acting was poor, the plot unbelievable, many untied ends left!

Another Asylum production; Don't waste your time!
asiafarer8 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
They try piggybacking on famous blockbusters, with cheap and untalented scriptwriters, cheap production and the most untalented people on the set. Just seeing before watching, that this is an Asylum production, will from now on make me stay away from wasting my time watching any production from this production company!

Neither fast or fierce, and will make one furious
TheLittleSongbird24 May 2018
Have made no secret in the past of intensely disliking, and even outright hating a lot, a vast majority of The Asylum's (near-universally maligned for good reason) output, though there is curiosity as to whether they are capable of making something good and compulsive about their output's badness. Admittedly, The Asylum do have a small group of watchable films and the occasional (big emphasis on that word) above average one, unfortunately outweighed by the lacklustre at best and often dreadful films they churn out.

One would think from the title that 'The Fast and the Fierce' has something to do with 'The Fast and the Furious' films or ripping them off. It's neither really, and it is that it's not a rip-off, despite being very predictable and derivative, is pretty much the only thing that stops it from being one of the studio's worst. While not quite one of The Asylum's all-time worst, everything bad about their output is present and it's basically an abomination that shows no shame it seems in being as bad as it is.

1/10 is not a common rating for me these days and generally try to be encouraging and balanced when reviewing. There have been a fair share of films seen that have deserved the rating and look as though they didn't even try, other than wasting good actors that is one of film's biggest cardinal sins for me. That's the case with 'The Fast and the Fierce'.

As expected, 'The Fast and the Fierce' is cheap, and that's being generous, visually, even for something made on a low budget. It's very drably and sometimes dizzyingly shot, incoherently edited (bacon-slicer-like) with glaring and unforgivably sloppy continuity errors and even the scenery doesn't make much impression despite being actually the least bad aspect of the film. There are worse special effects in other Asylum films, they still look very cheap though and like they were an afterthought and made in haste. Am aware of the film being low-budget, but there are examples of low-budget films that still don't look awful and manage to be pretty good.

Can remember little about the music, which tended to be intrusive, annoying and out of place. The script makes little sense, sounds awkward constantly and on the wrong side of camp throughout.

There is absolutely nothing thrilling, tense, suspenseful, emotionally investable or fun about the story. The predictability may have been forgivable if the film was actually engaging let alone exciting but it fails to be either throughout. 'The Fast and the Fierce' is basically non-stop dullness and intelligence-insulting ridiculousness, with unintentional humour because of the excessive cheese, too much often extraneous talk and not enough action and extremely flat and irritating character writing.

Its incredibly dreadful with no exceptions acting from a cast that wouldn't even pass for Z-grade is one of the film's worst assets.

Overall, really poor. 1/10 Bethany Cox

My first review.. as mentioned in other posts the attempted trickery in getting us to believe we are watching a fast and furious movie is a major turn off ..further more while reading other reviews i noticed the only good review here is from an actor in the movie "jeffrey jameslippold" aka "actstagescreen" ..really jeffrey!

What did I watch
playtobyplay1 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
There are no cars in this movie. I didn't see a single car. I saw the interior of car and like half a fire truck but nothing the took me for a bumpy ride. Air speed should have been the title. This movie was useless like a Pogo stick in quick sand. Grappling hooks, bald chicks, racism are all in this movie.

Worst Movie Everrrrrrr
george_dobson19 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
1 star out of 10 is an over statement... this was truly the worst film I have ever watched and I studied GCSE Media. IMDb should allow users to give a film a half star rating and even that is still generous for this movie. The front cover is very very very misleading as I did not see one car in the entire 82 minutes of the film, which was very disappointing as I like cars. The CGI is absolutely awful, they may as well just got a massive piece of paper and drew the background onto it. I suppose some of the acting was alright but I've seen more convincing roles on The Jermey Kyle Show. If it wasn't for my popcorn and Doritos's this movie would have been a complete and utter waste of time. I saw this film as a comedy rather than an action packed thriller which I'm used to seeing the fast and furious franchise. Overall, very disappointed but had a good chuckle to myself laughing at the poor CGI and acting.

Someone Actually Paid to Make This?!
seyam-7755014 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This must be from a parallel universe. A group of grown ups sat together and thought let's make the most absurd movie ever?! I wasn't watching it luckily, I was passing in front of the TV when I saw someone in a military cargo plane talking to 2 people across in a passenger aircraft in mid air. They were talking through open doors of two aircraft in mid air!! W T F!! I watched the remaining of it just to see someone declare this as a comedy movie. Rating in minus.

A throwback thriller with great lines
actstagescreen11 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, First of all the CG although kind of funny and cool, was not top notch. But was entertaining. Great story, the best one-liners I have heard in a long time. The Acting was solid, Adrian Paul was exceptional, as well as many of the supporting characters were very entertaining, I wanted a little more out of the terrorist who didn't provide much of a transition or turn of his character, he kind of was who he was, but the other characters had some really great moments. The Action took a little too long to get to, most of it is near the end,...so if you are an ADD type watcher, you might not have the patience to try to think through it. Although I expected more action from the title, I was pleasantly surprised with the story and the best one liners ever.

I have an affection for bad movies.....
tarwaterthomas10 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
.....especially super low-budget epics made by my favorite movie outfit The Asylum who has made a habit of making ripoffs of movies made by such major studios as Warner Brothers, 20th Century-Fox, and Universal. They budget one million dollars each for these productions, and they feature actors and actresses who used to be famous back in the day but have had their good times leave them behind. In this case, it's Dominique Swain who made her film debut as the titular character in LOLITA (1997); here, she plays one of the terrorists behind the hijacking of an airliner that has a bomb on board and it's rigged to explode below 500 feet in altitude. So there it is, flying above Los Angeles and knocking paragliders, blimps, and helicopters out of the sky. It turns out that two of the other terrorists are on board, one of them is a flight attendant and the other is a liar who claims to have served in Iraq. This is a hambone movie through and through, even though the visual effects aren't that bad. Adrian Paul (the HIGHLANDER films) plays a Homeland Security weenie who tries to save the doomed airliner, whose pilot (of Middle Eastern descent) gets the bright idea to cut off all electrical power and glide the plane in. And this fractured flicker ends with Dominique Swain's character surviving a fall down a stairwell and shows up weeks later with an eyepatch and making some poor boob an unrefusable offer. THE FAST AND THE FIERCE was supposed to be an homage to THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS; it actually ripped off SPEED (1994). I caught this goofball flick on the Charge channel. Well, there it is. Watch at your own risk.

Totally waste of budget and Time
behnam-az8411 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The scenario is unbelievably worthless. nothing makes sense at all. there is a huge paradox according to the level of technology that is presented in the movie and the tricks and actions characters use to reach their purpose. They use a Technology to locate anyone in any place in the word while they are blind to a tracer device in the nest. they escape an Atomic submarine and its missiles and torpedoes by moving aside simply using their driving skills!! one of them used his hands to change the direction of a lunched torpedo.I mean I can accept that in a world where there is Iron-man he, using his incredible suite, can change the course of a lunched nuke. But common? changing one almost with bare hands and showing some muscles is dumb. two people out of nowhere jump in a plane and steal the most valuable asset of the enemy which is a baby! and that hacking war over controlling the submarine was a real shame as well. I Knew I shouldn't have expect a brilliant movie but never Imagined it in this level. even some cheep Bollywood movies do better than this.

Why not to see this movie.
tirovafa24 June 2017
Why not to see this movie.

First of all. Realt awful to use similar film poster as the furious series and the same font. Second of alla is that i watched it for 40minutes and all i was was inside a cabin and the plane acting fuzzy in the air. Really really awful movie.

Can i say i didn't finish watching it? First time i commented here and i wanted to do this review so no other person have to waste their time.

on the plus side though, i got to eat creeme cheese and crackers. but that was the only good thing about it.

Don't see it. promise winnie the pooh on a Friday night is funnier.
