Both movies were so so

I like the Williams Sisters but I found the Sister Swap movies to be boring. I am not even sure what the storyline was supposed to be. But the most watchable part is the interaction and relationship between the sisters.

Inconsistent
Jackbv12313 December 2021
It might be helpful to read my review of Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday. This movie runs parallel to the other one, with the ending of this one continuing a little farther in time. This movie steals several scenes from the other one, but many of them are shot from a different perspective and may not include the exact same lines.

I love Ashley Williams and she is her typical energetic self in this movie. And quirky. And a little crazy. But so much fun.

While A Hometown Holiday focused on family relationships with the romance almost taking a secondary role, this movie is primarily a romance movie. Willaims and Keith D. Robinson have chemistry, but Williams steals the focus.

Joe starts out as very prim and proper or as Meg says "Victorian". Then suddenly, he's not. Echoes of his stiffness peaks out from time to time, but very quickly his personality changes completely.

The inevitable conflict is inconsistent as well as inconsequential. The movie and actors don't "sell it" due to saying or doing one thing and then the opposite.

I enjoyed this movie due mostly to Williams' energy, despite serious flaws in the story. If you aren't already a fan of Williams, this movie may not appeal to you.

Swap sisters -part 2
Saving2114 December 2021
This movie is the second part of the Christmas Swap sisters tale. From the first movie we knew what will be the story this time. They used scenes from last week and added more. Im not sure this really worked with two parts tale, the Williams sisters are great in almost every movie they are in , they are charismatic and cheerful you just smile when they are on even when the movie isn't great like these movies. The stories weren't bad but weren't great or Christmas magic that you want in these movies. The only unique part was the sisters part.

Also I think they should have aired these movies in one night like the thanksgiving holiday weekend creating one big movie in one night.

Sister Swap 2
haa431 December 2022
Part 2. This was on my Watchlist last year but never got to it. I liked the idea of this but the execution of parallel stories across 2 movies didn't quite work. I'm not sure if it was the focus on telling parallel stories or the fact that there were 4 scriptwriters but this was an uneven mess.

So in this movie we see a lot of the same scenes from the prior movie except some of these are shown from different camera angles. There are also continuation issues. In this movie, we see Simon driving away from the city but in the first movie his mother is the one who pulls up to the Madison.

Also, it's finally made clear why the gift for the mother is so important and who Ashley's character is grieving. Based on the first movie alone, I honestly thought she was a widow like her sister. In this movie, we find out she's having a hard time because she's grieving her uncle. Once again, it's not well explained why he had such an impact on the family. And her character does not come off as someone heavily grieving in either movie.

Ashley Williams and Keith Robinson have zero chemistry and honestly I lost interest about one third of the way through. This one focused more on the love story than the first movie did but the movie was incredibly boring. I did like the food bank story though. There also were too many stories going on here so the party story didn't really get the focus it should have. Again, 4 scriptwriters? The imbalance shows.

Where was Mark Deklin in this one???

I love the idea of the Williams sisters working together but give them a mystery series instead where they both have love interests or families. This concept didn't work very well and if Hallmark really wanted to be innovative, they should have just combined these 2 movies into 1 longer movie.

swap again
SnoopyStyle13 December 2021
It's the companion movie to Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday. Jennifer (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and Meg Swift (Ashley Williams) are sisters and best friends. This movie follows Meg and her misadventures. She stays in the city and starts getting involved in planning the restaurant party.

I do like this story better. It's simplistic which is perfect for Hallmark. I like the Rashomon element of rewatching the same scenes from the other point of view. This probably needs a better Joe. He's very much a stiff suit playing a stiff suit. The best way to do that is to put a comedian in the role. In the end, I like this slightly better than the other movie. I am still going to wait for the Williams sisters to solve murders while they giggle.

Energizer Bunny
rebekahrox13 December 2021
This one fell flat primarily because I already knew the plot from watching the companion movie a week ago. There were a few elements added that we were not aware of and some more details, but they were not enough to save this for me. The other reason was because I am just so tired of Ashley Williams. She was like a manic-depressive without the depressive. I really wanted the depressive. A few times she stopped smiling and bouncing off the walls but the respite didn't last long enough.

Which sister?
beachy-3843113 December 2021
Is anyone else here like me? I can't decide which sister I love the most. They are both so pretty and so effervescent. And who has a better smile than Ashley.

Sister Swap: Christmas in the City
JoBloTheMovieCritic26 December 2021
6/10 - this concept of two connected movies/storylines in a single year is certainly a first for Hallmark is certainly new for them, but I would recommend watching it a little bit apart (as it was aired) since the two become a little redundant if double featured.

Disappointing in every way
JDouglasJ_123 December 2021
I love watching Kimberly and Ashley in movies, but not this one. I was let down by the plot and how the movie moved along. The romances were not Hallmark quality with the double entendre included throughout. Some of the movie made no sense to me and I quickly lost interest after about 20 minutes into it. It's too bad, because the actors have great ability. I gave it one star and I don't usually do that.

This and the interconnected Sister Swap movie shown a week ago are absolutely delightful!! I did not realize these 2 Williams gals were sisters until now.

Love "all the feels"!
chasemix14 December 2021
Really enjoyed this movie, the production design and the feeling of the holidays! What confuse me is why they are using footage from the last movie? Thought that maybe I was having some kind of memory challenges!!

Meg's version
Kirpianuscus27 November 2022
In simple way it seems enough to write I love it. Maybe for Ashley Williams energy. Maybe for romances, including the gay couple. For the meeting father - daughter for food bank or for the remind of importance of family.

Sure unrealistic in few scenes - the promise of Frank is the most significant exageration - but energetic and sweet.

In short, the version of Meg, beautiful for humor and few sweet moments at first sight better than the first part, a Hallmark in which Ashley and her sister are the fair option for presence, are than for acting.

Nothing new but good easy entertainment around a cinema theater and a restaurant.

Watch them at the same time
MickyG33321 November 2023
6.6 stars.

I realize now, if you care to even take the time, it's best to watch both the sister swap movies at the same time. Basically, watch until commercial with the first one, then vice versa for this one, and on until the end. Or, maybe break it into more intervals, like 5 minutes and swap, 5 minutes, and back. I noticed a few things that were interesting, since I just saw the first one yesterday. Had I not seen it yesterday, most of it would be lost on me.

These sister swaps aren't anything special, so I'd recommend skip and move on. Anything less than a 7.0 for me is in the "I need never watch it" category.

I rated them both the same because they are the same. I think many fans could be called out for their bias, rating this one noticeably lower than the first one simply because there is a gay couple. Really. Come on, it's about entertainment value and quality and fun, not about politics per se. If the political agenda gets out of hand, then yes, I will simply stop watching Hallmark films.

Sister swap or Channel swap?
gfrasmd17 December 2021
Should have known. Proper companion for the first part, last week. Pick up two lovable sister-actresses, throw them into a two-part insulse pulp, and there you go: you ruin the image of both. After this movie, I will never be able to remember Ashley Williams with the fondness I used to. Thank you Hallmark, for this great achievement!

Meh
biren7215 December 2021
Snow doesn't look as real as other Hallmark Channel movies. Potato "snow" not working. Projector is the mainstay of this movie, not the acting. I'd give it a 1 star...but this is a typical (and I mean VERY typical) B rated Hallmark Channel movie with even lower rated actors/actresses.

loved the double feature combo
novagirl1115 January 2022
I love the sister swap concept, each lady starring as lead actress in their own movie and as a supporting character in the other, overlapping the same timeline and some of the same events, from different perspectives. I liked that it was actually filmed in Salt Lake City. Also, in the red hat shopping scene, you can see Jen Lilley's Christmas Is Not Cancelled striped winter hat in the background!

Too nice, to the point it becomes overbearing. And I say that as someone who is used to the cheesiness
r96sk8 December 2023
So, so dull.

Turns out this is part of a series that also includes 'Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday', which I somehow missed when doing my quick research (checking for sequels etc.) before selecting a movie. Apparently, though, it's a split perspective type of thing, in that this tells one sister's perspective and that other one shows the other sister's story. Intriguing, something that 'Sister Swap: Christmas in the City' is not.

I found the story and its characters to be too nice, to the point it becomes overbearing. And I say that as someone who is used to the cheesiness and all that stuff from these sorta flicks, but even for me this felt too much. Ashley Williams' Meg is particularly jarring.

My only plus point for this 2021 release is the bits of the plot involving David L. King's Frank and Rhonda Morman's Nina. That actually held some weight to it to be fair, unfortunately it does wrap up in the typical Hallmark fashion (as expected) but even so I appreciated a less sugary, if too minimally shown, piece of storytelling.

Awful! But SLC did great
iamvirtue7 January 2022
When is Hallmark going to figure out that your main stream viewers do NOT like entertainment that includes this content. EVER. This was awful and very disappointing from the Williams sisters. However, it was great to see Salt Lake City actually play Salt Lake City!

I like Ashley Williams but this was a little too social justice-y for me.
cgvsluis23 December 2021
I like Ashley Williams...but it was almost like she was trying too hard in this Hallmark holiday film that was about?

It also was a bit filled with social justice issues...so if that is your thing than you should watch this.

Very interesting concept

I don't believe I've ever seen a movie in which a character switch occurred so smoothly and pleasantly. Fun and caring characters. I felt involved in their lives Great plots. I strongly recommend.

FAST FORWARD TIME....
linda-plant215 December 2022
Stuck with it for 20 minutes, during which time all the pc boxes were ticked, but Ashley Williams is now too old to play the fore-ever in your face cheerful and permanently grinning character. She recites her lines in a loud way, and practically dominates every scene.

We all like a feelgood Christmas film, but this had very little that we hadn't seen in other Hallmark films, so the scriptwriters have very little to do. I don't often give up before the first commercial break, but when Williams kept looking eyes wide and mouth even wider when anyone uttered a sentence, I decided that was enough. So the recording was deleted and I didn't waste another hour and 30 minutes.
