End could have been better
hvhemant034 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A better ending could be like BrijMohan had given ransom directly to the judge and got acquitted.

We're finally getting there
perlshop4 November 2018
Thanks to Netflix a new era of Indian cinema is beginning. Goodbye to all the stupid, song and dance, censorship and same old love stories. Finally filmmakers are getting a chance to show off their creativity and make good movies where people talk like they do in real life and movies are for entertainment not preaching.

Anyway Brij Mohan is one of these movies. Profanities are thrown left and right (having lived in Delhi I can totally relate to everyone sayin BC all the time).

Some parts of the movie were genuinely funny but the reason why this isn't an 8 or 9 movie is that the suspension of disbelief had to be too much. I was willing to go with everything shown in the movie but the ending ruined it for me. It was like a cop-out by the director storywriter and just too out there. Still it's a good one time watch.

Makes you want to meet these characters!
arjun_b7 August 2018
Reading between the lines is what director Nikhil Bhat wants us, as viewers, to do. That is the reason why small things like the registration plate of the lead character's car is the way it is. And of course, there is similar wordplay in the title of this film as well. A lot of thought has gone into this movie than what meets the eye, at least in the first viewing. One roots for the character despite being aware of his ill-meaning ways and intentions. Not many movies can make you do that. As a black comedy, this one comes as a breath of fresh air albeit in the form of dusty alleyways of Delhi which are uniquely captured in cinematographer Pooja Gupte's frames. Minus the dances, the film's quirky background score by Andrew Mckay and the choice of old Hindi songs adds wonderfully to the already eccentric scenes of the film. All of us are left down and out at various points in our lives. How we deal with such situations is what defines us. And how he deals with them is what defines this fresh, quirky tale. He who? Amar or Brij? Go figure, you won't be disappointed.

Well made, well performed movie!!
jkt200612 August 2018
This one was a big surprise on Netflix! The director has taken a different route and approach to the typical characters and takes you on a roller coaster thrill ride along with the main character who has acted flawlessly. Totally worth my time spent watching this one. Definitely recommend it!

10 Points
denisababeanu5 August 2018
One of the best black comedies of the Indian cinema! It is time to leave all the false "love" stories, dances and co. behind and speak openly about the current times and reality! From littering the walls, dirt to sex, corruption etc.! One should point to the real life and talk open about it! The things will not change immediately but they will change! And the new generation is not "obsessed about sex" because it is a NEW GENERATION, but because of the false education and hypocrisy of the Indian culture ! Speak open about it and it will not be an obsession anymore! The movie is VERY GOOD! thumbs up and more movies like this!

Only the start was good
amiyardas7 August 2018
The story starts with a good concept but the later part is not up to the mark. Very peridictable and boring. The ending was the worse. This could have been a lot more hilarious.

Anticlimactic
aniketsulejodhpur1 September 2018
Last thing you expect from Netflix is to produce typical Bollywood potboiler and unashamedly release it.

Talented star cast like Arjun Mathur have tried to salavage the the shabby script but the story is so sad and simple that no amount of charm, wit or talent could have salvaged the movie.

I wish they had added layers to the character or story and the movie was not so predictable and boring.

Had such a high expectation from Netflix and Arjun Mathur ! Just to be let down.

When Karma plays it Dark
OnjiMooteDaMarle14 November 2018
This is a 'never a disappointing moment' film. Every sequence has something funny, hilarious, surprising or shocking to offer. Thank god there ain't a single star in the film but actors. Every character is well portrayed and worth at least a scene in the film. The dialogues are wonderful and fresh. The film is dark, funny and well made. Kudos to the writers and the director. 30 minutes into the film and I felt it was an hour long of tightly packed fast paced drama. Worth a watch. *Claps* *Claps*

Black crime comedy by Netflix
anindita189919 August 2018
Indian movies are rarely made in this genre so it gets points for the attempt. I found the acting good enough and some parts of the movie were very funny. Loved the story! Some parts didn't make sense as it's supposed to be based in Delhi but the locations, accent and court system didn't make sense, seemed more like some small town in Haryana. But, apart from that it was a pretty well written comedy of errors.

Some movies have the capability to awaken your philoshoper inside you. This is one such movie, after watching this you will start pondering what you could have done with that 1.5 hrs of life. Useless script, pathetic characters. I watched the entire movie in anticipation that something will happen for sure and the hero will do something and at the end the plot will be revealed. Why it's fashion to show that India is only about adultry and desperation. How come me it even made to netflix. Pathetic pathetic pathetic.

Did't exptect it to be this amazing!
webultimatein29 August 2018
The competition on Netflix is cut-throat. It's a challenge for any show or movie to hold viewers' attention throughout its duration. Brij mohan does it exceptionally well especially if you like Dibankar Bennerji's kind of cinema with hardcore Delhi accent and generous amount of MC, BC abuses. The acting, script,,direction, locations are absolutely outstanding. Even actors in smaller roles like judge, money lending guy, wholesaler, prostitute etc. are incredible in this roller-coaster ride. A must watch in my opinion!!

I will think a lot before ever watching an Indian movie on Netflix
karansinn15 August 2018
Comedy is made out of something thats actually true. By only making fun of Delhi (the only city people in India finds to make fun out of) but it could've been funny if even lil out of it was true. This movie felt like the Director really hates Delhi n tried to portray it in the most negative way possible by showing the things that doesnt even exist.

Making fun of Court rooms by making it look like a dirty dhaba?!
  • Even small towns U.P Doesnt have such courts, n the director actually portrayed it as a courtroom in a city that has the Biggest courts in India that actually looks like a shopping complex.

Judges cant speak english.
  • Only the best judges from around India actually make it to Delhi. And is this even funny to portray a judge as an illiterate?!

There are many other points too but that would make this review so lengthy, overall a totally dumb storyline that makes no sense.

It neither had a happy ending nor a sad or even funny.
