Ive seen a lot of scify. I can tell the good from the bad. This movie, no matter what you think of it, is much better than some things Ive seen
like battle beyond the stars. This was one of the better ones. It clearly had a good budget with good cgi and good acting and you really wanted to turn the next page. It only suffered in being a little slow. It was surprisingly thought provoking and new and thus contributes to the genre. Im still trying to understand it fully. Here is my rating;
Plot: 6 out of 10, a little slow but interesting cgi: clearly professional... 7 out of 10 acting: 7 out of 10... slow but very well done science: hard to say, requires more thought ... seems like 6 out of 10 but could be wrong, some things didnt make sense Thought provoking: 9 out of 10 without question. contribution to the genre: 7 out of 10. Fresh approach, new ideas Gore avoidance: 5 out of 10, mostly ok accept for one nasty scene.
Overall maybe not A plus but certainly engaging and memorable, better than a hard to watch silly B movie despite being a little slow. Certainly leans more towards realistic sci fy, not cartoonish. Slow at first.
