Great? No. Total Garbage? Not Exactly.
Foutainoflife6 January 2020
Ring, Ring is a film about some office workers who steal a client list when they are let go from their jobs. The list is on a cellphone that goes missing. They set out to find the cellphone only to be lead to a house that they enter and become locked in by a junkie. Who's gonna make it out? This is the plot.

Let's start with the fact that this is and indie, low budget film. The filming isn't polished and while the actors aren't well seasoned, I've seen worse. The story isn't a bad one but it lacks any real amount of depth, has very little character building and there's no real reason to invest in any of the characters. It makes for a slow watch that isn't very interesting.

So, why 4 stars?

Well, I'd give it 3.5 if I could. I can appreciate the struggle of low budget film and this wasn't an unbearable watch. The actors weren't THAT bad. Some of them, maybe but the three lead characters did a decent enough job. I want to give credit where it is due and like I said, I've seen far worse.

Would I recommend it?

Depends on who asks. If you are a horror fan, you probably will not be satisfied. If you are looking for a serious thriller, you will also be left unsatisfied. If you are looking to kill some time and you can tolerate low budget indies, this might work for you. Everyone else will probably want to skip it.

Every over 5 star review here is fake
MikeHunt10753 December 2019
I am so sick to death of IMDB doing nothing about new release movies being flooded with fake reviews to make it sell a movie.

The movie is not scary, funny, great or worth a rental. Who rents these days any way?

In fact this has got to be the worst ending let down to any movie of 2019.

It's not terribly made, the acting is half decent, plot is ok, fine editing etc, thats all fine. It has an anticlimax ending and went no where but downhill. Why bother to set up characters with no pay-off for this rushed ending that made it seem like it should have been either a short indie film on YouTube or a 25 minute long episide of Goosebumps?

Avoid it, you'll hate wasting your time on this. Time that you will never get back. No one should recommend half a movie with a terribly rushed ending.

So many fake reviews!
pugluvr20085 December 2019
In my opinion, this movie rates 3 out of 10. The story is okay but the acting is mediocre at best. The script is cheesy and could have been written much better. There's nothing worse than fake reviews to make a low budget film look better than it actually is. I'm not a movie critic but it seems as though I can critique a movie better than most that have left reviews for this film. I hope this review helps as it is at least an honest one.

don't believe the positive reviews
honeyrydar18 August 2019
Watched this movie to see why it got such high reviews. when the plot sounded weak. thought i'd give it a chance. regretting that i did. all i can think is the 9/10-10/10 reviews where written by friends and family of the people in the film. stay away.

These #x27;t be real...
cerberuxmusic18 August 2019
So I saw all these positive reviews for this movie and thought to myself "for an indie horror film this gets a really good rating". It's obviously fabricated.

This movie had the weakest plot I've ever seen and didn't make hardly any sense. It wasn't clever, it wasn't scary, and it sure as hell wasn't worth the watch.

This is a prime example of why you can't trust reviews anymore.

This movie doesn't even compare to the B movies made by the Asylum (Sharknado, etc). At least those movies TRY to do SOMETHING.

Ring Ring is a terrible excuse for a movie and definitely does not deserve the rating it gets...

Not sure what they were going for...
stsinger25 July 2019
"Ring Ring" starts out as sort of an office comedy, where Will (Malcolm Goodwin) and Amber (Kirby Bliss Blanton) work at some sort of building supply and remodeling company making cold calls (their boss is Lou Ferrigno, who makes a "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" joke). The boss tells the staff that the company is closing, and Will, Amber, and another friend decide that if they can get the client list, they could start a company and convince the clients to use them instead (I know, but just go with it). So they break into the boss's office and use Will's phone to take photos of the client list.

They go out to a bar to celebrate, and Will hooks up with a hot girl (and he's also drunk beyond belief) and that causes him to leave his phone at the bar. Since it has the client list, it's really important to find, and so the next day, he and Amber use "Find my Phone" to find the location of the phone, and call a ride share to go get the phone back. In an amazing coincidence, the driver is Jacob, the guy who found (and then stole) the phone and he brings them to his house. He's not home (since he's in the car), so they break in. When they eventually go into his basement, he sneaks in and locks them in the basement.

I'm not at all sure what they were going for. The comedy was... OK, I guess. But I think it meant to get to horror or suspense but there was just nothing to it. I mean, nothing really happens. After they are locked in the basement, we might be expecting "horror" or scary stuff but, no, they just stay in the basement and Jacob stays upstairs getting high. The movie is less than an hour and fifteen minutes long, and stuff doesn't really start to happen until an hour into it. And even then, it's not very much.

The shortness of the movie is extra weird since there is stuff hinted at that would have been interesting to know and we don't learn any of it. Amber is a druggy who got arrested and her car was seized, and she told Will that it was for possession, but she whispers to Jacob what it really was and he reacted like it was something worse. But we never find out. There's a seemingly important backstory about Jacob, his mother, and a friend which is hinted at in a conversation that lasts a couple of minutes and then it's dropped. And the ending... wow, it's bad. Really bad.

The three leads give strong performances all around, but just, bleh.

Not worth it
sim-sean4 December 2019
Felt I had to write about this. The amount of fake reviews is getting ridiculous. The plot is weak, acting is bad. Scary? I would be more afraid if a telemarketer rings me up. Save your money.

Nothing like Psycho
brucethomson-478723 December 2019
Despite the very many reviews here that say this is like 'Psycho', it is nothing to with it. It is boring. It may be low budget with few actors and set scenes, but a waste of time. I would have preferred not to have seen this, and slept, done some gardening, or even gone to work.

Better than the last film
jameskieran-8883526 July 2019
I'm glad it wasn't just a jump scare movie. The fact that this movie subtly showed the benefits of medicinal marijuana with Wills character, showed they were trying to get something across this time. Usually "scary movies" are purely for kills and scaring the audience...but I was very happy to see there was some sort of story line. It's a relatable movie in several ways, broken families, friendship, struggles at work. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to shed light on this teams better project. I watched Beneath the Leaves because of Paul Sorvino, and was very disappointed he wasn't in it as much as advertised (Much like Lou Ferrigno, in Ring Ring. Sigh) All in all..... This was a good movie. It kept me entertained. Looking forward to what's next.

Depends On What You're Looking For
mjazzguitar-800-1897024 February 2020
I liked it. If you're looking for something that isn't boring and moves along, it's a pretty good flick. It's entertaining and doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. I've seen a lot worse and watched until the end just for something to do.

What a waste...
ashe-8762721 January 2020
"Ring Ring" was not thrilling, not scary, not funny, nothing like psycho, not entertaining, not dark comedy and i could go on and on. The movie was slow and boring. Good concept but poorly executed. The acting was good but that's about it. The corny "hulk" reference should've definitely been avoided. This movie was really weak. I could've gone my whole life without seeing this movie.

RING DING by hostess is much better
jbrbsmom3 February 2020
I sat through this movie and when it ended, my jaw was slackened open and I wondered what on earth had I just watched, and more importantly, WHY had I watched it? Shaving matted feral cats would have been less painful and a much better waste of my time.

I think even the MOVIE doesn't know what it is about. There are so many plots and sub plots and themes and sub themes that spin off to nowhere it is hard to imagine this isn't an instructional video on how not to make a movie.

In the beginning, it wants to be scary. Then cheesy. Then funny. Then it tries to take itself seriously and develop some tie between all the plots it has presented, but that fail to go anywhere. And that ALONE is hilarious.

The SCARIEST part about this movie is the number of times one of the characters can profusely vomit and then say his lines with chunks of it still on his face. OVER and OVER we watch this character retch and puke and vomit and drool. The amount of money spent on special effects vomit must have been STAGGERING.

So profuse was his putrid projectiles that it seemed as though the writer got together with an artist, they smoked a HUGE bowl of SOMETHING and then decided to create a plot around grotesque vomiting scenes. And there you have it. Ring Ring.

I have seen novice movies but this was the worst. I dont want to blame actors but the director surely must drops off his job and join blue collars.

A lot of fuss for no muss
punisherversion116 February 2020
Ring Ring Directed by Adam Marino. Written by Adam Marino,Naman Barsoom and Daniel Wallner

This movie has a bunch of set up for a fairly straight forward standard imprisonment movie. You think from the way everything starts off at this telemarketing place that it might be some kind of heist film. This is a bait and switch. It is a film where a drug addict whose mother has died but he pretends she didn't so he can pick up her prescription medication steals a precious cell phone and this guy and his friend break into his house to get the phone back. He traps them in the basement and then hilarity ensues.

I'm just kidding. Just a whole bunch of whatever happens. This is a dull sit. They do some really stupid stuff to get into this situation. They set up this entire get back at our crappy job scheme and other than giving them a reason to want this phone so badly, it has no effect on the plot. They might have been going for a Psycho set up. It doesn't work in this case because it managed to confuse me a bit.

The camera work is also all over the place. The filmmaker believes in that extreme close up school of making movies. This way allows your brain to focus on one thing at a time. All these close ups are language for importance. Well if everything is shot that way, does that mean everything is important? That can't be. Some shots should be set up for mood or for establishing location. My brain hurts just for attempting to parcel this all out.

The acting is adequate. They all play their parts well and I believed in their characters and the situation they found themselves in. You can understand their desperation once they're in it. You understand how trapped even the antagonist feels. His addiction controls him to the point of going this far and hurting people, stealing phones and what not. It has that kernel of dramatic momentum.

The problem is the coincidences that just pile up. Every problem or obstacle that gets in the way of their freedom is solved by a coincidence. Where's the fun in that? How does that place our faith in these characters?

I would skip this one. You can see this type of story better elsewhere. It has potential but it just squanders it. They make such terrible choices and sometimes it's difficult to get behind their thought process. It's also not very scary. It's just dull.

I give this movie a D.

A worthy successor to 'Psycho'
Phil_Chester16 August 2019
With its definite nod to 'Psycho', this film is very entertaining and absorbing. The casting is spot-on and the performances are engaging throughout. Great production design and cinematography give this film a real Hollywood gloss and make it an easy film to recommend.

65% Comedy 34% Thriller 1% Horror
KingOfHungary4 May 2020
At a lot of places this will also be listed under the category of Horror. This is incorrect, so don't go into this expecting any semblance of a horror movie. It's a jokey, overacted terrible story, where everyone is either a drug abuser, a criminal, or an idiot. The plot is razorthin, the characters unlikable, and the scenes just meander through the paces with overacting performances filling up the time.

This is a refreshing little film with a cast of good actors, good filming and an original idea. I watched it and liked it. Not the greatest of all time but far from bad.

Worth a watch
williamgway17 April 2020
This was a bit of surprise. I enjoyed this film. It is a well shot horror film with some twists. Not constrained by a modest budget, this crew and ensemble cast do a great job delivering a suspenseful thriller. Director Adam Marino does a nice job with this script. It is well shot and makes use of the locations. Some great workplace moments. Worth a watch for sure.

Yeah No.
wandernn1-81-68327426 March 2020
Not scary. Not entertaining. And really not good. Just short on everything you want in a movie. Plot, Dialogue. Action... Gore, all necessities for a decent horror film and this really didn't meet up to any of them.

Absolutely darling silliness
killercharm19 February 2020
Three likable culprits steal the client-list from the company that just let everyone go without even severance. They lose the phone with the list in it and break into the house they track it to. This house is inhabited by the son who is the only living member of his family. When his beloved mom died of cancer he put her into the basement freezer thereby enabling him to cash her SSA checks, which therefor enabled him to keep getting high and make his car payments so he can drive for Ryde. Madness ensues.

Decently shot with some good acting, but not much else.
davey21003 August 2020
This film was painfully boring to sit through and I'm glad it had a pretty short run-time.

Just not a whole lot happens. The first thirty minutes are completely pointless and just serve as a reason to get the main characters into the house, but it easily could've been condensed into 5-10 minutes.

Most of what the main 'villain' does doesn't really make sense and adds nothing overall. He's just there doing things for the sake of doing them, to make this film have some sort of plot, i guess (it really doesn't), but he's just devoid of any real motive.

The actor's did a good job with what they had, and shared some good chemistry, and there were some really well done shots and run-through scenes.

I feel like this was just a concept film to show offsome budding director's camera work. Really not worth the time. Completely forgettable viewing.

The fake reviews are laughable
ryleilove26 June 2022
I cannot believe the lies of these reviews for this movie. I stan for any b, c even d list movie. I love the cheesiness etc but I will rate honestly, no matter how much I love them. Now, what I can't stand is the dishonesty of the reviews. It actually turns me away from the movie.

I didn't come here first which was a mistake on my part because I always always reference IMDb first. I love reading the reviews but these people comparing this disaster to Psycho (a classing btw) is a real knee slapper.

This movie was all over the place. One minute it's a comedy then it's a - I assume they were shooting for.... - horror. It was just weird. I still enjoyed it again because I love watching low budget movies but it was also still bad, ha. I gave it a 2 for effort and keeping me somewhat engaged to the end.
