Hollywoo delusion in its finest form

You can tell in the first 2 minutes that this movie will be terrible. It starts off with four separate title cards.

"The director recommends that you watch this film as big as you can, as loudly as you can, in a dark room..."

This one on itself is already a little warning about the quality of this but nothing too bothersome yet.

"WARNING

This film contains true psychological terror... that can lodge itself deep within your mind without you knowing it... Some have likened the film to the feeling of being a patient within an insane asylum. If you are mentally frail, we advise you stop the movie immediately."

Second title card desperately attempting to hype up this crap, spewing typical Hollywoo takes on mental health (not understanding a single thing about the subject as usual)

"Otherwise... enjoy the madness... of THE SLEEP..."

Third title card, at this point I let out a sigh in real life...

"THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION... BUT IT COULD HAPPEN... TO ANYONE..."

Fourth title card attempting to hype up this movie... (or I really don't know what these title cards are attempting to do to be honest)

Then the movie finally starts.

There is no substance to review here so I will merely explain what is going on at certain points in the movie.

Opens with a generic parody ad for depression medication. (do I hear the word foreshadowing, yes, yes I do, also, yet again typical Hollywoo take on mental health)

It starts off with 10 minutes of a typical USA/LA rich kids having discourses about issues such as gun control, mass shootings, "why god would let such things happen", "if there was actually starving kids in Africa, they would be dead by now wouldn't they ?" (actual quote that was put in this movie), "why should I donate", "I want to be rich so I can donate", "every mass shooter was on some kind of treatment" etc.

At this point of the movie you get the sense that "big pharma" is bad because mental health treatments are actually made so that people all kill each other (again, typical Hollywoo take on mental health and its treatments, yes "big pharma" is bad, but not because they are trying to get people to kill each other, but because of capitalism, the same reason that somehow let this movie happen in the first place)

After about 10 minutes of that the actual plot of the movie starts. Queue however much time of terrible scene after terrible scene, inter-cut with Leto-esque Joker acting cutouts of the protagonists against black screens acting "crazy" every minute or so (for absolutely no reason or to no gain to this movie).

At 50 minutes in I specifically remember telling myself that these title cards aged terribly.

Around 1h10 I specifically remember asking myself on what level of delusion Hollywoo people are to think that this would ever gross enough to merit any more parts (the title of this movie containing "Part 1").

And after about 1h30 of "escape room game" type action but with lethal weapons we finally get the why of all of this : Mental health issues are actually caused by evil spirits (thanks Hollywoo for this take) Psychiatry is actually attempting to harness the power of these evil spirits (thanks Hollywoo for this take)

After 1h49m35s the movie finally ends and you as the viewer can only ask yourself: Why did I let myself sit through the entirety of this?

Why did this need to be 1 hour 50 minutes long?

How did this ever get made in the first place?

How did nobody involved in the process of making this realize that they had a horror flick on par with Birdemic? (if not worse, only time will tell at this point)

The sad part about all of this is that this movie might have actually been slightly better if it did not think of itself so seriously and highly (in typical Hollywoo fashion) and went with more of a comedic approach, but sadly it did not.

So I created an account specifically to review this movie in the hopes of doing my part in preventing any more lifetime hours waste on this trash-pile of a flick.

I will never get back these two hours of my life.

Such a disaster!! Wasted my time over this piece is absolutely shameful. The title cards itself provided this movie will be evoke horror or something underneath the skin, all i experienced was a bunch of kids trying to act like a school drama.

It's 2022 and people can't seem to make a GOOD HORROR MOVIE. Who are the idiots that dump money into these projects thinking, "oh we got a banger on hands!" Acting is so horrendous, the best they can do is scream, moan and make noise... They think the louder they do it, the better it is or something. They mix real life problems into harry fkn potter/exorcism/paranormal activity/world war z. That they don't know what they want people to watch, yet they assume people want part 2, by letting you know this is only 1. So if your looking for a horror movie, go watch the exorcism of God(hands down something much different and better).

The only explanation is that there is no explanation

Absolutely the worst piece of garbage I've ever watched. Will there really be a part 2 ? I highly doubt it after this display of trash. I lasted about 70 minutes before I shut this off. 69 minutes too much. Horrible movie.

i gave up at the magic wand

This was bad from the get-go , but when they threw in a magic wand i had to abandon all hope that this would have any redeeming value.

The characters have the emotional maturity of 3 year olds . Their response to everything is scream and throw a tantrum . The director should have a restraining order , preventing him from getting within 500 feet of any camera , permanently .

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot... Don't press play, this is an official warning.

There's no plot, no explanation, no acting, no context, just a bunch of screaming, dizzy walking, stumbling, with a lot of no camera focus.

With 3 minutes left into the movie, you'll get a half a** explanation, which will make little to no sense.

The murder weapons don't match up, dried up blood, self-inflicted wounds which have no revelance at hand while the time line is delayed, but let's sip water like a boxer in his corner,

The electricity CGI was awesome, but wait, there's "no" more to like about this cluster ****,

Utterly Embarrassing

I've seen a lot of bad movies in my life but this by far is the worst. The acting was absolutely terrible and over exaggerated. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I counted the unnecessary f bombs in this movie it was a waste of film, time, and money. The only good thing about the movie was the cover photo. Seriously do better. If I could I'd give this a zero star review.

Interesting Plot Twist and Entertaining Themes

Most people are being too harsh on this film.

The film was very entertaining. Although the film seems to be obviously low to mid range budget the cinematography was engaging and on point with the dark horror/theme atmospheric theme. The movie was well cast. The viewer can enjoy seeing the character's personality shine with a wide array of acting styles and diverse set of faces (which is quite a change since lately hollywood has seemed very segregated). The best part of the whole film was the plot twist. Personally, I am a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan, particularly, because of the plot twists in his films. I hope to watch part two if it's released!

Absolute and Utter Trash

I rarely see a movie that I can't sit through. This is one of those rarities.

The movie starts like a typical horror flick from the 60's or 70's, where they try to set a mood with ominous title cards warning you about the thrills and chills that are to come. Next we 're shown a parody TV commercial for an anti-depressant. Kind of on the nose if you ask me, but.... Then we are shown a news broadcast decrying the number of mass murders lately, with the most recent having occurred in a library. And then... we have the one statement that we know is going to set the pace for the remainder of the movie. On of the chicks quips about how sick she is of guns and that guns need to be outlawed - "AR-15s are only made for one thing - to kill people! Why does anybody need an AR-15?!" Right there you know that this is going to be one intelligent, thought provoking train wreck...

From there on out, the majority of what I saw was filmed almost completely in the dark with a bunch of idiots screaming and yelling incoherently. You can't see what's happening. You can't make out any single voices. Nothing that DOES happen makes the least amount of sense.

Don't just NOT watch this. Actively RUN from this as fast as you can. You do NOT want ANY of this trash rubbing off on you. You might not ever get it out.

Was this written by a Scientologist?

I'm serious about the question in the title of this review. Was it? Because this is a movie only a Scientologist or Q follower could love.

The premise is the evils of psychiatry and psych drugs. Not to mention how mass shootings in the US are some sort of false flag operation. I truly expected them to start talking about overts and withholds.

Plot aside, this movie is an incoherent mess. It's easy to lose interest, it is all the same garbage about psychiatric medication turning people into zombies, and just the worst of all, boring.

Don't even bother with this. It is a hot mess. But maybe they just need some sunshine and fresh air.

IF YOU WANT SOMETHING MINDNUMBINGLY STUPID TO WATCH, WATCH THIS!!!

Ok, this review may be partial parody. Honestly, I watched it all the way through. Normally, when I see a movie this poorly done, I stop the movie and check out something else. This movie was so entertaining in an absolutely, 'who the hell provided the budget this for movie?'-kind of way that I had to watch it through. Yes, the acting is horrible, the special effects are laughable, and the story is absolute trash, but the effort the actors/actresses put in to making this garbage makes it worth a watch. The most absurd thing for me was the magic wand. Like, I can quasi-understand the rest of the movie but where did the magic wand come from? Honestly, if you are bored and want to watch comedy horror, this is a must-see (as long as you are not expecting anything resembling a Hollywood production/more like a high school project shot with a camcorder and neighbors as extras).

Strong heart & soul stays with you after.

Very strong start and end. I feel the intent and purpose of the film was very well delivered, meaningful story, presented as fun, entertaining and strong cast of characters. The characters are well rounded, real personalities, and interpersonal relationships running. I believe them o how they said they cared for another and were solid friends. Slow build that reveals the true horror of what is being done. A very dark movie over all, I do hope for a part two to add some closure, on a good note I hope... But very pleased the true impact was not glossed over. The ending was perfect in that. There is some issue with the directing of action, cinematography in the middle but that takes more experience and I am looking forward to seeing this team grow. The communication does get across and there is a real gem in this. Does it get surprising fantastical, yes and well planned why.

I feel films with important messages like this is very needed. I find this a fun sci-fi on the same genre I'd give "Lions For Lambs" I will watch it again and recommend it to others.

Unwatchable garbage

This is not a scary movie. At all. This is a group of amateurs who think they've made a horror movie about drugs, magic, zombies and "medical experiments". It is so embarrassingly bad that words cannot describe it. To hide the lousy quality, the f-word is overused right through the entire movie. Also, the actors stare right into the camera and scream - a directing thing that belonged in the 60s. Everything is bad in that production: acting, directing, script, effects, scenery, make-up, props, everything feels cheap, unprofessional and amateurish to the point of being comical. I don't know what this bunch of unknown C actors had in mind, but whatever it was, it didn't work. Save your time and skip this one.

Off the hook when it comes to genrecation,'' stupidism and narcissism'' should be the right box to put this antihorror of a mad hatter home alone making a video,that i had to write this little note of content... or discontent over the whole plank or fjæla as we say where i live, of a wannabe script, wannabe production and wanna be plot... ive seen film without saying a word with a title with only 3 letters saying ''bra'' which is 100 times as horrifying as this godtemplated miuzm... and that was in fact a comedy.'' so you better shut up, you better work out or else were gonna put you asleep tonight ,santa claus is coming you know.....''

if youre able to stay awake through this disorder of moviemaking then do dive into the zopiclonic punch with judy asap, cause thatll make you feel really well rested and well done slept next morning , and the grumpy old mans advice is written with a lazergaze, just let this fade, its a no watch.

Contrary to other reviews.

Contrary to other reviews, i was curious, after seeing the WARNING at the start of the film. A disturbing look at experimenting on the public. It's not the best movie, and there were times it felt like a 'B' movie, but if you let yourself get into the film, it seems quite disturbing what kind of things are actually available to people these days.

I know there was the warning at the start, and i also have disabilities, but if you are of sound mind, watch it and make up your own mind. Obviously i have a quite unique perspective, so don't judge other reviews, make your own mind up.

What did I just watch?!

This is a horrible movie honestly. Very underwhelming. Too much noise and flashing lights. Absolutely not scary at all. Downright a waste of time. I mean, literally wasted 2 hours. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but it is cringeworthy. I don't think there will be a part two to this. It is ridiculous. The ending was just bad. You can watch it just to pass time but just do not expect anything good from it. The only scary thing about this movie is that they actually agreed to air it. There's definitely better horror movies out there. There's literally no good part I can remember from this movie, weird.

This was a refreshing movie. I totally did not skip thru it every 10 seconds. No i i sat down and watched this brilliant film. I hope it wins a grammy and i hope mr devin rice wins an oscar - NO. 20 oscars. I cried so much out of happiness. I dont understand these other reviews tho? I think they watched a different movie? Bc like this was like so good like i loved it like cinematography at its PEAK!!!!!!1 please please watch it! Omg. I showed it to my newborn baby and she spit up her banana baby food in utter glee. MUST WATCH FOR 2022. THIS SET THE TONE FOR 2022 MOVIES!!!!

Truly a NEW and exciting horror film!

This is a great movie. It's keeps you sucked in constantly as it's truly a new plot! I'm not going to say none of it has ever been done before but they did a fantastic job on creating a new story, not the same old Hollywood movie yet again. And they really did a wonderful job with the acting and shooting.

Honestly all the reviews on here are people that just like to generally b!tch and moan through life, and want to see the same old movie over and over again.
