Warning: Spoilers
This remake of the 1970s Japanese TV series Shiruba Kamen (Silver Mask) and Supa Robotto Reddo Baron (Super Robot Red Baron) takes the heroes from both - an armored bionic superhero and a red giant robot - and has them fight aliens to save Earth and prevent the extinction of mankind.

In the year 2050, life as we know it is gone on Earth. No, not just the COVID-19 we're dealing with now, but the Killgis have used their giant robot Black Baron to terraform our planet and make it just like their planet. The Kasuga family travel back in time with the plans to make their own robot, a device that shows them who is an alien, psychic powers and the Silver Mask suit, which is soon given to a scientist's pit fighting brother.

If you're a fan of the Senkosha heroes like The Samurai, Moonlight Mask, Kousoku Esper and Yusei Oji, you'll be happy when Goro Kirishima, the hero of Iron King, shows up at the end to warn that the Shiranui are coming to Earth. Here's to more crossover films like this, as I had a blast watching it.

I like that the aliens chose Earth because we were going to destroy ourselves anyway. This is the kind of mindless - I say that in a good way - giant robot punching magic that Japan does so well.

Don't trust the 8.2 rating: this movie is garbage

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, even though I say there are spoilers ahead, this is a movie that can't actually be spoiled, because it has no redeeming features. So it's like I warned you: hey, don't eat poop, it tastes terrible! That's not really going to spoil the experience of eating poop. The story: in the future an alien race wants to dominate Earth by polluting the air so it becomes breathable to them. So they send soldiers that are machines and mutants that can pass off as humans to capture human engineers to develop a giant robot able to pollute the world. Earth is almost completely devastated by the year 2050, but humans developed glasses that see who is an infiltrated alien, one uniform that increases the fighting skills of it's user, a time machine, and a girl developed a lot of psionic powers. A scientist sends 3 young people to the year 2013 to change history. They find a robot engineer that used the future info to gain a lot of money in the stock market and use the funds to create another giant robot to fight against the future alien's giant robot. Aliens attack the engineer's brother. He's saved by the future young people, that take him to the secret base, where he meets his brother and find out about the future and the robot. The engineer had disappeared 3 years ago without telling his family, so the brother is mad at him. Also, as a child the engineer promised his brother to build a giant robot so his brother could use it to fight against bad people, so he made it so that the human's giant robot could only be piloted by his brother. The base is attacked by aliens. All humans escape in the giant robot, except for the engineer that gets captured. The brother goes to the Moon to learn to fight with the robot. While that happens, aliens use future info gotten from the engineer to develop faster their alien robot, and send it to a big city. Brother returns and fights alien robot, and after a lot of BS, wins. Alien says he was only going to conquer Earth because it was already a planet that was going to destroy itself. They kill the alien. In the original future timeline the scientist that was left behind opens the door to find that the alien robot is being defeated by a human robot. To be continued... If you haven't spotted all the stupidity in this movie yet, here are some questions to help you: why the need for giant robots? Why didn't the first scientist come through the time portal? Why didn't they stop the giant robot with a nuke? How does an alien have technology to reach Earth, but not have enough technology to build a giant robot by itself, and needs to enslave human engineers to develop the technology? How did the whole human planet became polluted with only one robot polluting it? Where's the explanation to the psionic powers of the girl? Or her clothes (shorts + 2 layers of clothing on her upper body)? If they have glasses that can see who is an alien and who isn't, why aren't they using that all of the time? If they can build clothes that make people better at fighting, why didn't they build one for everyone? If they know what's the aliens are going to do, why didn't they warn the whole planet? How come the humans didn't find out about the aliens when all of the top engineers were abducted? Why did the aliens go and fight the engineer's brother? Why are all the characters and actors and plot and writer and financer of the movie so dumb? Etc. I could keep writing for hours, but this won't make this movie any better, so I'm stopping.

About a lot of things, like what else you could be doing with your life and why did the dude in the silver suit wear the same bandage over his suit for five years?

not a bad movie just take it for what it is

Not a bad movie just take it for what it is .

This movie reminds me a lot of THE GUYVER 1991 costumes armours etc.

No its not going to win any oscars but its certainly not as bad as some reviews make it to be giving it a 3 or lower score.

The special effects are quit good there is some gore if you love giant robots aliens invasion and time travel then you will be served.

Its not a perfect movie the story is quite simple, but most of the characters are lickable.

Also for a movie of this type its quit short, movie goes for an hour and twenty tree minutes so they kind of did what they could with this short run time.

If you can get yours hands on this movie its worth it for the entertainment value.

It's Okay

Warning: Spoilers
I am a long time fan of tokusatsu, giant robots, giant monsters. All of it. Power Ranger, Super Sentai, Godzilla, Pacific Rim, I live for that. I know the characters Silver Kamen and Red Baron, but I never watched the shows they are from, so I cannot judge the accuracy, but it was entertaining.

Now, I watched it dubbed, and the dub was not the best, but nothing that I couldn't handle, as I have seen many poorly done dubs, so this isn't even in the top ten, or top fifty for that matter. But it felt like some of the voice actors were either not going the distance, or they were trying too hard. Now, I would rather the latter of the two, because it is a giant robot movie, so I say go crazy.

The pacing is kind of underwhelming. The film is pretty short, but the action scenes are only at the end, and really doesn't excell at what it could have. Hindsight is 20/20, but if they would have gotten a few more actors for Silver Kamen to spar with throughout the film would have helped with the pacing issue, and maybe expanding on the damage done with the mech fight could have gave it more awe. This is an issue that many people had with the 2017 Power Rangers film, but that at least had fun characters to watch grow.

They also could have gone further with the violence. At the beginning, someone has their eyes popped out, but we never have anything like that again. It had the harsh swearing, which was jarring. It seemed as if they wanted to make a movie for mid to late teens, but the excessive swearing makes me think otherwise. That might be a dubbing thing, I don't know, but if they wanted an R-rated action film, they should have embraced the ridiculousness, and gone full splatter. Maybe it was a budget issue, but they should have either went with the lighthearted teen film, or violent romp.

If they do the follow up movie involving Iron King, I think they might be able to fix these issues. More destruction, and make the mechs feel as giant as they are. Let Silver Mask have his time to shine. Let him go crazy. Have an army for him to fight. Hopefully the budget of the next one will be increased so they can make that happen.

What I appreciate about this film is that I know I am never going to get a big budget live-action rendition of these more obscure tokusatsu characters, so I am happy to see more independent film groups make them. It might not be perfect, but to have a group of people show love to these more unknown characters brings me a smile.

Give it a shot. It isn't too long, and it is entertaining enough to satisfy a temporary mecha itch that needs to be scratched.
