My Review Of "Debunkers, Inc"
ASouthernHorrorFan14 September 2019
"Debunkers, Inc" is very family friendly. The thought that kept coming to mind was that - this film reminds me of the Saturday series 'The Inspectors' about college kids interning for the Inspector General's office of the Postal Service- or something like that. Only in style, campiness and very soft drama. Only with "Debunkers, Inc" there is a direct link to the Scooby Doo concept.

The story and overall intend is a cute, simple adventure mystery with an element of paranormal activity which sets up this group of high schoolers for a chance to show their skills. It's murder mystery in a very benign way, There is no violence and the film never gets anywhere close to thriller territory. It is all mid-morning weekend i/e approved.

The acting is disjointed and a bit too theatrical, which if the whole concept would have been to go camp, would have been okay. But the supporting cast and a lot of the situational stuff stays bland and straight which creates a clunky, disenchantment air that causes the entertainment value to struggle to take off. Overall "Debunkers, Inc" is only going to appeal to a small, select audience. Like I said, that weekend mid-morning kiddie crowd. Unfortunately though, the movie never reaches it's inspired target as Scooby approved.

Lots of fun!
BandSAboutMovies7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Debunkers are a band of amateur detectives, who will do anything to become heroes while getting right - hence the LLC part of their name - but they're just geeks at heart. After all, their code names come from their favorite video games: Link, Snake and Dr. Mario.

Now with their new intern, Canadian foreign exchange student Sheik, they're on a question to become the premiere mystery debunking business in the state of California.

On the first day of senior year, the Debunkers are hired by two girls who need someone to discover who killed their friend. Soon, however, our heroes find themselves up against not only a killer, but perhaps the occult.

I had a lot of fun with this movie. It seems like the springboard for a potential series, which I would not mind watching at all. It moved really quickly and had just enough quirky charm to keep me invested.

Investing in Regret: A Cinematic Misstep by Ryan Andrews
dylanturner-4457519 November 2023
What is perhaps most concerning about this movie is that somebody actually funded it. Whoever it may have been, they should give serious consideration to their investment decisions before giving money to a fool like Ryan Andrews. It's likely their dollar would be better spend elsewhere and, in this case, it's almost certain they would have been more fortunate investing their money on a trip to the Moon. What's clear is that Ryan Andrews has outdone himself with this farcical, inferior excuse for a movie, which should be nothing sort of a massive red flag for any intended film production with him attached.

Debunkers Inc.: A Cinematic Catastrophe Unleashed by the Dubious Maestro of Incompetence
nathanielwinslow-004504 January 2024
In the dimly lit catacomb of cinematic despair that is "Debunkers Inc.," I find myself compelled to unleash a torrent of fury and disillusionment. My son, an unsuspecting student at Cathedral Catholic High School, was lured into the abyss of this cinematic atrocity by the misguided recommendation of a friend who, in turn, had the misfortune of witnessing this calamity unfold in the film class presided over by the dubious maestro of incompetence, Ryan Andrews.

"Debunkers Inc.," a film produced and acted in by Mr. Andrews himself, stands as a monument to the unforgivable sins committed against the art of storytelling and the sanctity of education. How dare my son's friend, ostensibly an ally in the pursuit of cinematic enlightenment, endorse such a travesty? How dare Ryan Andrews, under the guise of education, subject young minds to this carnival of ineptitude?

The plot-or what masquerades as such-of "Debunkers Inc." is a tapestry of inanity and confusion, a narrative train wreck careening off the tracks of coherence. The characters, mere hollow shells draped in the illusion of personality, stumble through scenes with all the grace of marionettes manipulated by an inebriated puppeteer. One wonders whether the script, if a script even existed, was an afterthought in the fevered dream of someone with a tenuous grasp on reality.

And then there are the performances, a cacophony of cringe-inducing overacting orchestrated by none other than the architect of this disaster, Ryan Andrews. It is a performance so ham-fisted, so bereft of subtlety or skill, that I cannot fathom how this man continues to hold a position as an educator. The supporting cast, if one can generously apply that term, stumbled through their lines like sleep-deprived zombies in a low-budget horror flick.

The visual assault that is "Debunkers Inc." serves as a stark reminder that the art of cinematography can be reduced to a nauseating display of shaky handheld shots and inept framing. It is as if Mr. Andrews handed the camera to an amateur with a penchant for cinematic chaos, leading to a visual experience akin to watching a blender mishandle a delicate soufflé.

My son, a victim of cinematic misguidance, was ensnared in the clutches of this abomination due to the ill-advised counsel of a friend who, one can only assume, fell prey to the same cinematic Stockholm Syndrome. The fact that such a film is presented as educational material in a high school film class is an affront to the very concept of learning through the medium of film.

In conclusion, my fellow film enthusiasts, I implore you to shield yourselves from the excruciating agony that is "Debunkers Inc." It is not merely a film; it is an insult to the intellect, a mockery of artistic integrity, and a betrayal of the trust placed in educators to nurture the minds of the next generation. May Ryan Andrews reflect upon the monstrosity he has unleashed upon impressionable minds and reconsider his role in the realm of education and filmmaking. May future generations be spared the torment of enduring such a cinematic calamity under the guise of education.

Double Trouble: Unsettling Accents and Sexism in "Debunkers Inc"
rachelalma23 November 2023
"Debunkers Inc" not only falls short in the authenticity department with Ryan Andrews' questionable Russian accent but also stumbles into problematic territory with its treatment of gender dynamics. The film's portrayal of its female intern raises concerns about perpetuating stereotypes and reinforcing outdated, sexist tropes.

The character dynamics involving the female intern are troubling, as she appears to be little more than a pawn at the mercy of her male counterparts. Instead of presenting a progressive and respectful depiction of women in the workplace, "Debunkers Inc" regrettably chooses to perpetuate tired stereotypes, where the female intern is relegated to a subordinate role, bossed around without agency.

This sexist undertone undermines the potential for the film to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable narrative landscape. The female intern's character seems to exist solely for the convenience of the male leads, contributing to a narrative that patronizes and diminishes the role of women in professional settings.

In an era where audiences are increasingly critical of gender representation in media, "Debunkers Inc" misses an opportunity to challenge stereotypes and instead reinforces harmful clichés. It is crucial for filmmakers to recognize the impact their choices can have on societal perceptions and to strive for more nuanced and empowering portrayals of female characters.

While "Debunkers Inc" may have its moments, the combination of a problematic Russian accent and a regressive portrayal of gender dynamics leaves a bitter aftertaste. It is my hope that future productions will approach character dynamics with more sensitivity, recognizing the importance of breaking away from harmful stereotypes and fostering a more inclusive and respectful cinematic landscape.

Don't Believe the Hate
brodriguez-134072 May 2019
This movie is a well-written, well-directed project by a high school crew. It's no Endgame, but for its pay grade and the age of it's directing members, its a marvelous piece of film that strives to be pure cinema. The director has a bright future ahead of him. Good choice by the producer. Keep up the good work and don't let some salty students get you down!

Randomly saw this on Showtime the other day and really loved it. It's a kids movie but it's still fun for adults and there's some real passion on screen. Well worth a watch!

Lots of fun to watch!! Ignore the bitter dude who gave it 1 star
mckennalah6 May 2019
I had a lot of fun watching this movie. The description literally says that it's goofy high-school detectives-- you have to understand that it's going to be silly. Each character was individually charming and well-written, the movie was well-directed, and everyone who was a part of that project is incredibly talented. Give it a watch and don't listen to that unnecessarily scathing reviewer!

Also, the actor who plays Link is real cute. Just saying.

All of these reviews are just previous students of one of the characters and are taking out their anger of probably getting a bad grade in his class because they probably sucked by leaving bad review. But I generally enjoyed the movie and cannot wait to watch it gain on Showtime!!!!!

Great Family Movie
izzypollak30 April 2019
After the screening, several kids walked up to Matt Thompson (the Director) and asked him questions about what mysteries the Debunkers will solve next. It made me smile to see this light hearted family film capture the imagination of young ones and their parents.

A Movie For All
esingle-993239 March 2021
Debunkers, Inc. is a fun, goofy, and warm feeling film. The spirit and heart within the movie reminds me why people go into the filmmaking business. It has the electricity of a bunch of friends having an idea, creating a movie, and sharing it with the people.

As a grounded adventure film, Debunkers, Inc. has something for everyone, especially those that come into it with an open mind and an open heart. At times the movie reminds me of The Sandlot, The Little Rascals, The Goonies and other films centered around a strong bonded group of friends looking to take on the mysteries and obstacles the world sets before them.

So if you have some time, and want to go on an adventure, see what the Debunkers, Inc are up to.

Quirky Fun - Kids Not Required!
JenExxifer26 June 2022
I give this movie 10 stars for a fun mystery that doesn't require having kids to enjoy!

When I saw it on the Showtime Family Zone channel for the free preview weekend it made me curious so I DVRd it; I'm glad I did because it was a fun mystery sans sex, profanity, and gore, but with lots of good laughs.

The quirky humor and characters reminded me of 'The Adventures of Pete & Pete'; I would recommend it to any adults who enjoyed that show back in the '90s.

Kids aren't required for viewing, just an appreciation of mysteries and quirky, clean humor, and feeling like a kid again!
