This episode has some of the most humorous scenes I've seen in any NCIS program. Some of them are subtle, others more obvious. The mystery draws the viewer in and ties together elements from previous episodes. I don't want to give anything away for someone who hasn't seen What Lies Above, but while there are elements from previous shows, it doesn't have the tedious, long serial quality of so many NCIS storylines. Much as I love the show, I find the long serialized stories to be boring. I realize they may be easier for the writers, but I prefer more tightly crafted mysteries on television. As usual, Gibbs is a father figure for Tim, with a nice, heartwarming ending.

What Lies Above 14.17
8-stars. Everything starts with an 8-star rating.
Tim enters his apartment and finds that there are two gunmen inside. The first one gets away with an injury and Tim shoots the second one dead.
Umm McGee: Delilah isn't ever walking in on anybody, dude.
A lie of omission still a lie just like a half-truth is a whole lie.
There is no sign of butt puckering even though it's possible that secret DoD files were stolen.
It's gotten to the point where we feel that no one on the team has any respect for Gibbs. And we wonder how much respect they have for each other.
7-stars.
Quinn says that: "fur is murder". Humans hunt and kill animals for food and clothing. The writers are, once again, in a tailspin. They are the ones who make their livings depicting all sorts of violence and mayhem directed towards their fellow human beings.
6-stars.
Hope they evacuated the neighbors before they started playing with those "x-ray scanners".
