Chowka!! Made with lot of passion
vinaygowda-c28 February 2017
Chowka, 50th movie of Dwarkish productions seems to have been produced with such passion to make it big and bringing in an ensemble cast with 4 leading actors & actresses and multiple technicians. Has this resulted in a big outcome on the silver screen? Definitely, yes, the movie has everything we can expect from a typical commercial movie while still showing the class elements of emotions and message to audience. The transformation of the movie from romantic to emotional to patriotic genre is just amazing which some people cannot digest. Though, the movie is lengthy (178 min), the narration and screenplay is gripping. Tharun Sudhir as a debutante director as shown lot of promise to the future of Kannada film industry like his brother Nandakishore. The songs are soothing to hear with good music and lyrics. Most surprising thing in the movie is Kashinath's acting which has to be applauded who has never been seen before in a supporting role like this. However, challenging Star Darshan's cameo role steals the show. Overall, the performance of the entire cast is good and have been used appropriately. Verdict: It is evident that Chowka movie has been made with lot of passion from Tharun Sudhir, Dwarkish and ensemble cast with tons of talent.

Chowka Super Hit 2017
cinehungama8 February 2017
Four individuals, each with their own dreams and aspirations, land up in jail. They meet a school teacher who not just shows them hope but also stirs up a passion towards reform. What ensues is an entertaining thriller. Dwarakish Chitra's 50th film, Tharun Sudhir's debut as a director and a star cast that will have most directors give more than just an arm to own -- there were expectations galore from Chowka. And this film proves to be worth all that hype. The film, albeit being three hours long, manages to keep one engaged throughout the narrative and also provides old-fashioned entertainment with a positive message to the youth in the end. In a way, the team has given Sandalwood its own Rang De Basanti. One of the film's biggest strengths is the screenplay. A story that uses a hyperlink to connect multiple narratives can get tricky to handle. But Tharun proves to be a good storyteller and he has a good team in both his technicians and cast. The fact that the producers haven't cut back on the film's making adds to its charm and appeal.

Revealing anything more than the already known plot line would take away the thrill of watching the film. There are different scenes, some even inconsequential, but all collectively adding to this story. The story could have fallen prey to some of the trappings of commercial cinema that makers choose to woo audience, but the story remains free from these tropes majorly and keeps the viewer engaged till the end. The casting for the film is spot on. In fact, for actors like Prajwal Devaraj and Prem this film adds as a good platform to show different sides to their acting abilities. Chikkanna and Kashinath have newer avatars that works well with the script and one is seen rooting for them. Darshan's cameo also draws the necessary cheers and applause. For choosing a cast that has so many powerhouse performers, Tharun doesn't cut corners of characters and play favorites. In fact, each character, big or small, contributes to the overall narrative. For a film that is three hours long, one does not get tired with narrative's pace and stays with the story till the end. Watch this film if you like multi-starers that provide commercial entertainment, while not bowing down to being just mindless fun.

Great Escape!
phharshu2 May 2020
The movie is all about the 5 prisoners who land up in jail for the crime they have never committed. They become friends and later on plan to escape for their own good will and to show people that they aren't criminals. But there's always an intruder and an impersonator who acts as a spoilsport. Who is this? Will they escape? Could they tell the world they aren't criminals?

Worst Movie I have ever seen
dhanveer162 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how this movie has got such good ratings in here. This movie is horrible, the movie does not have any plot most of the characters in the movie are pointless, the whole movie has 100 hero entrance scenes, i wish they had worked on the script than these mass scenes, i am not against the scenes but having 100 of them is too much. the heroes in the movie don't have dialogues, they have monologues on preaching us about things(religion, corruption )BLAH, they could have handled such scenes with subtlety rather than hammering on the head . Then comes the copy of prison break (english TV show)scene, where the guy steals prison.last but not least the wannabe rang de basanti climax. My god!!! stupid movie made for garbage
